For most players, the best Amazon Luna alternative depends on how they get games: choose NVIDIA GeForce NOW to stream supported PC games you already own, or Xbox Cloud Gaming for cloud access to a subscription catalog and selected games you own. PlayStation Plus cloud streaming and Boosteroid are also worth checking, but confirm their current local terms and game support before subscribing.

Xbox Cloud Gaming: a subscription catalog, with some owned games too
Xbox says most cloud games require an eligible Game Pass plan, a supported game and region, a supported device and an internet connection. Selected games owned or purchased outside Game Pass can also be streamed, but not every owned game is eligible. Xbox cautions that titles, features and availability vary over time and by region, plan and platform. Check the Xbox Cloud Gaming overview and FAQ for the current rules that apply to your account.

On the US page accessed October 7, 2026, Xbox listed monthly cloud-play allowances of 5 hours for Essential, 10 hours for Premium and 15 hours for Ultimate. Treat these as the allowances shown for those plans on that date, not universal terms: check your local plan page for current limits. That US page displayed plan prices as placeholders, so a current dollar price cannot be confirmed here.

PlayStation Plus cloud streaming may suit someone whose priority is PlayStation games, and Boosteroid is another service to investigate for PC-focused streaming. Current regional eligibility, device support, catalogs, tier requirements and prices are not established here for either service. Use their official regional pages and check the specific games you intend to play before subscribing. Confirm that your exact device is supported
Xbox lists browser play on phones, tablets and PCs, plus Xbox consoles, handhelds, select LG, Samsung and VIDAA smart TVs, Amazon Fire TV and select VR headsets. Availability depends on device, platform and region; consult Xbox’s current support details rather than assuming every model works.
Amazon’s Luna overview, updated September 21, 2026, lists Fire TV, Fire tablets, Windows PC, Mac, Chromebook, iPhone and iPad through a web app, Android phones and tablets, select Samsung and LG smart TVs, select Comcast Xfinity devices in the United States, and the Rogers Xfinity Stream Box in Canada. Amazon says Luna has expanded to 14 countries. Its US page lists Luna Standard as included with Prime, while warning that prices may vary by territory. Its September 21, 2026 update reports more than 60 games for Prime members and more than 45 GameNight local multiplayer games; these are Amazon’s figures, not independent catalog counts. Check network guidance and expectations
Amazon recommends a stable connection of at least 10 Mbps for Luna. Xbox recommends at least 10 Mbps on mobile and 20 Mbps on some other devices for best quality, and says performance depends on location, device and connection. These are provider-published guidelines, not guarantees of a particular resolution or smoothness. Your home network and the device you play on matter too.

Do not compare services by a resolution or frame-rate claim without checking the current plan and your own device and network. The available service information does not establish like-for-like performance benchmarks.
Check whether you need a controller
Xbox requires a compatible controller for most cloud play, connected by Bluetooth or USB, although select games support touch controls. Amazon lists Xbox and PlayStation 4 and 5 controllers as compatible with Luna and says a phone can act as a GameNight controller. Check whether a controller you already own works with your device and chosen games before buying another one.
A practical checklist before subscribing
- List your must-play games. Search the current catalog for every title, and check whether it is available in your country and on the plan you would use.
- Identify the access model you want. GeForce NOW focuses on supported PC games connected through store accounts; Xbox Cloud Gaming primarily offers access through an eligible Game Pass plan, with selected owned games also streamable.
- Confirm device and input support. Check your exact phone, computer, TV, console or handheld, whether play uses an app or browser, and whether your controller or touch controls are supported.
- Read local plan terms. Verify the current price, taxes, required tier, monthly or session play limits and any other restrictions for your country.
- Check your connection. Compare your connection with the provider’s guidance, then account for your home network and the device you will use.
For a wider comparison, consider catalog access, supported devices, region and price, play limits, input options and performance conditions together. A service is only a good fit if it can stream the games you want under terms you can use.
