For the sharpest Nubia photos, begin in the standard Photo or AI camera mode, tap your subject to set focus and exposure, and keep the phone steady. Switch to 50M for a well-lit, stationary subject when you need maximum cropping detail. Use Pro when you need to control shutter speed, ISO, white balance, focus or exposure value. Portrait, Night, Sport and macro-capable modes are better choices when the subject or light calls for them.
Exact controls and available modes vary by Nubia model and software version. The steps below use controls documented in the nubia Air user manual and hardware specifications published for the nubia Z60S Pro; treat model-specific features as examples rather than universal specifications.

The quickest setup for detailed Nubia photos
Use this sequence when you want a dependable starting point rather than a fully manual workflow:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Open the native camera and leave it in Photo or AI mode.
- Frame the subject and tap the detail that must be sharp. The viewfinder displays a focus point and an exposure meter.
- If you need to recompose, lock focus and exposure after placing the focus point, then move the frame without tapping a different area.
- Select 50M when the subject is static, the light is good and you expect to crop the image later.
- For moving subjects, low light, faces or close-up work, choose Sport, Night, Portrait or a macro-capable option instead of forcing 50M.
- Brace the phone with both hands. A universal smartphone tripod is useful for 50M, macro and longer-exposure Pro shots.
- Review the image at high magnification before leaving the scene. If fine texture is blurred, take another frame with more support or a faster shutter.
This approach separates two different goals: recording more pixels and recording a sharp subject. The 50M label addresses resolution; it does not remove motion, focus or lighting problems.

What each Nubia camera mode is for
The nubia Air manual identifies Photo as the default automatic camera mode and documents HDR, Smart AI, zoom, focus and exposure controls. It also lists several specialist modes. Their names may appear in a different order, or a particular mode may be absent, on another Nubia model or in another firmware region.
Photo or AI mode
Photo is the right first choice for most daylight scenes. The camera chooses exposure and processing while still allowing you to tap a focus area, adjust the exposure meter and use the phone’s available HDR, Smart AI and zoom functions. It is especially useful when the subject changes position and you do not have time to configure every variable manually.
Tap the most important detail rather than the nearest object. For a flower, tap the petal texture; for a product, tap the printed label; for a building, tap a high-contrast edge at the distance you want sharp. When the framing changes after that tap, use the focus or exposure lock so the camera does not refocus on the background.
50M high-resolution mode
The manual describes 50M as “Use the highest resolution to take high-quality pictures.” Use it for a stationary subject in strong, even light when you want latitude to crop or inspect small details. Landscapes without moving foliage, architecture, artwork, documents and carefully staged products are sensible candidates.
50M is less forgiving of hand movement and subject movement because any blur remains visible when you inspect the extra detail. A tripod or firm support is worthwhile, particularly indoors or when you are photographing a small object at close range. If people, leaves or vehicles are moving, a normal Photo frame that is genuinely sharp can be more useful than a higher-resolution frame with motion blur.
Do not assume that every Nubia phone uses the same sensor or produces the same 50M output. The mode is documented for the nubia Air, while other models may expose a different high-resolution label or make it available only from a particular camera.
Pro mode
Pro mode is for situations where the automatic result is consistently wrong or where you need repeatable settings across several frames. The nubia Air manual says Pro can adjust ISO, white balance and exposure, and it documents shutter speed, white balance, ISO, focus, exposure value, focus lock (AFL), exposure lock (AEL) and white-balance lock (WBL).
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsManual control is valuable for a series of product images, a fixed tripod scene, a deliberately blurred background or a moving subject whose brightness changes as it crosses the frame. It also lets you stop the camera from changing color or focus between shots. Pro does not automatically make a picture sharper; it gives you control over the causes of blur and inconsistency.

Portrait mode
Portrait mode is designed to focus on a face and blur the background. Use it when the subject is a person and separation from the surroundings is more important than rendering every background detail. Place the face inside the camera’s guidance area, keep the subject at a sensible distance and check hair, glasses and fingers at the edge of the blur. If the cutout looks unnatural, switch to Photo and tap the eye or face you need sharp.
Night mode
Night mode is intended for low-light pictures. It combines a longer capture process with computational processing, so stability matters more than it does in a quick daylight frame. Rest the phone on a solid surface or use a tripod, ask people to remain still and avoid touching the phone until capture finishes. For a moving subject at night, a shorter Pro shutter can preserve motion better, although it may produce a darker or noisier frame.
Sport mode
The manual describes Sport as a mode for clear pictures of fast-moving objects. Choose it for children, pets, cyclists or games when freezing action is the priority. Follow the subject smoothly, keep the focus point on the subject and take several frames if the camera offers burst capture. A high-resolution mode is not a substitute for a fast, well-timed action frame.

Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Macro-capable cameras and modes
Macro detail depends on the camera’s minimum focusing distance, not only on megapixels. Move the phone slowly until the subject is within the macro camera’s working range, tap the exact texture you want sharp and avoid casting a shadow with the phone. A tripod helps because a tiny change in distance can move the subject outside the focus range.
The nubia Z60S Pro is documented with a 50MP ultra-wide camera that supports 2.5cm macro focusing. That specification belongs to the Z60S Pro and should not be applied to every Nubia model. If your phone does not list macro capability, use the closest camera that can focus on the subject rather than assuming the main camera will focus at 2.5cm.
Document and Panorama modes
Document mode is intended to straighten and crop documents. Put the page on a flat, evenly lit surface, keep the phone parallel to it and check that all corners are visible before capture. It is usually preferable to photographing a page in ordinary Photo mode when the goal is a readable, squared document.
Panorama captures a wider scene while you move the phone slowly. Follow the on-screen direction at a steady speed, keep the horizon level and avoid moving subjects crossing the join between frames. For maximum fine detail in one section of a scene, a normal or 50M frame may be easier to keep sharp than a panorama.

How to set focus and exposure before you shoot
The nubia Air manual describes a direct viewfinder control: touching the image shows a focus point and an exposure meter, and the focus point can be dragged and locked. The same basic gesture is common across phone cameras, but the exact icon or lock behavior can vary.

- Place the subject in the frame and tap the detail that must be sharp.
- Watch the exposure response on the screen. If the subject is too dark or bright, drag the exposure control associated with the focus point until the important area is readable.
- Recompose while keeping the focus and exposure lock active when the subject distance and lighting have not changed.
- Tap again or release the lock when you move to a different distance, because a locked focus point can leave the new subject soft.
- Capture several frames if the subject is small, reflective or close to the edge of the focus range. Inspect the result rather than trusting the preview alone.
Locking is particularly useful for a row of product shots, a series of documents or a landscape where the camera would otherwise select a bright sky and underexpose the ground. It is less useful when a person or animal is moving toward you, because the correct focus distance changes continuously.
Pro mode controls, explained without guesswork
There is no single ISO or shutter-speed number that is “best” for every Nubia phone, lens and subject. The official material establishes which controls are available, but it does not establish universal numeric starting points or a single menu path shared by every model and firmware version. Set one control at a time, watch the preview and check the captured frame.
Shutter speed
Shutter speed determines how long the sensor records light. A shorter exposure is the primary tool for reducing subject movement: use it when a person, pet, vehicle or handheld object is moving. A longer exposure can gather more light for a static scene, but it makes hand shake and subject movement more visible.
Begin by deciding whether movement or brightness is the larger problem. If the subject is moving, shorten the shutter first and accept that you may need more light or a higher ISO. If the subject is static and the phone is supported, lengthen the shutter cautiously while keeping the composition unchanged. Make a test frame and zoom into the fine detail before settling on the setting.
ISO
ISO changes the sensor’s sensitivity and the brightness of the recorded image. Raising it can help you keep a faster shutter in dim light, but it generally makes noise and smearing more apparent. Lower ISO is preferable when the scene is bright enough and the phone is stable.
Use the lowest ISO that still permits the shutter speed you need. For a static subject on a tripod, protecting detail with a low ISO and a longer exposure can be sensible. For action, preserving a fast shutter is more important than keeping ISO low.
White balance
White balance controls the color cast caused by different light sources. Auto white balance is convenient for a single snapshot. In Pro, choose a fixed white-balance setting when you are making a sequence under unchanged light and want every frame to match. A fixed value prevents the color from shifting when a bright window, a colored wall or a dark background enters the frame.

Manual focus
Manual focus is useful when the camera keeps selecting the wrong layer of a scene, such as a subject behind glass, a close object against a busy background or a repeating pattern. Adjust focus while watching the fine edge you care about, then make a frame without changing your distance.
For macro work, focus is extremely sensitive to distance. Move the phone or subject in tiny increments and use support. If your model offers focus peaking or a similar aid, its availability is model-specific; do not assume every Nubia camera includes it.
Exposure value
Exposure value (EV) is a quick way to bias the camera brighter or darker without independently rebuilding every exposure choice. Lower the exposure when bright areas are losing texture; raise it when the subject is consistently too dark and there is enough highlight headroom. Recheck the histogram or preview after changing the composition, because the brightness distribution may have changed.

AFL is focus lock, AEL is exposure lock and WBL is white-balance lock in the manual’s terminology. Use them together for a controlled sequence: establish focus on the product, set a brightness that preserves its surface detail, lock white balance under the same lamp and then shoot from slightly different compositions. Unlock when the subject distance, light or color environment changes.

Static landscapes and architecture
Start in Photo and tap a distant edge or architectural feature. In bright, steady conditions, 50M can provide additional cropping room. Keep vertical lines straight and avoid touching the phone during capture. If the scene contains moving trees, water or people, decide whether their movement is acceptable before choosing 50M. Pro becomes useful when the sky and foreground need a consistent exposure across several frames or when you want a fixed white balance.
Products, artwork and other small static objects
Use a tripod or solid support, clean the lens and light the object evenly. Photo mode is sufficient for a single item; 50M is useful when you need to read a label or crop a small section. Tap the most detailed surface, lock focus and exposure, and keep the camera parallel to a flat product face. For a repeatable catalog, Pro with AFL, AEL and WBL prevents focus, brightness and color from changing between items.
People and portraits
Choose Portrait when the goal is a face with a softened background. Check the subject’s eyes and hair at full zoom; edge blur can be less convincing around fine strands or overlapping objects. Use ordinary Photo instead when the person is moving, when several people are at different distances or when background detail matters. Tap the nearest important face and use a faster shutter in Pro if movement is causing blur.
Pets, children and sports
Sport mode is the documented choice for fast-moving objects. Keep the subject inside the focus area, follow its path and make several attempts. If the light is poor, Pro lets you trade ISO against shutter speed, but there is no universal numeric setting that suits every Nubia camera. Review eyes, paws, hands and other moving details, not only the overall composition.

- Whether you're an amateur, enthusiast or professional, this is a must-have accesory for shooting on the go
Night streets and indoor scenes
Use Night mode for a static scene in low light and support the phone while it completes the exposure. Avoid moving people crossing the frame if you want them sharp. For a subject that must remain frozen, Pro with a shorter shutter may be more appropriate; add light or raise ISO only as needed. Keep bright signs and lamps in view while checking that nearby surfaces still retain texture.
Close-up and macro detail
Use the macro-capable camera or mode listed by your model. On the Z60S Pro, the documented ultra-wide macro capability focuses as close as 2.5cm. That distance is a hardware specification, not a guarantee for other Nubia phones. Approach slowly, tap the exact point of interest, support the phone and move the light to reveal texture without glare. If the subject is three-dimensional, take several frames at slightly different distances because only a thin slice may be in focus.
Receipts, pages and labels
For a flat page, Document mode can straighten and crop the result. Keep the phone parallel to the paper, illuminate it evenly and avoid reflections. For a label whose texture or color matters more than automatic cropping, use Photo or 50M, lock focus on the print and preserve the whole object in the frame before cropping later.

What the Z60S Pro specifications mean for detail
Nubia’s global store described the nubia Z60S Pro in 2024 with a multi-camera arrangement that illustrates the hardware factors worth comparing. These figures are specific to that model and should not be generalized to the Nubia range.
| Camera or feature | Documented specification | Why it matters for detail |
|---|---|---|
| Primary camera | 50MP sensor, 1/1.56-inch sensor size, f/1.59 aperture | The sensor and aperture affect light gathering and the amount of detail available from the main camera. |
| Ultra-wide camera | 50MP, with 2.5cm macro capability | Provides a wider view and a documented close-focusing option for small subjects. |
| Telephoto camera | 8MP, 80mm equivalent focal length, with OIS | The longer focal length frames distant details more tightly; optical stabilization helps reduce camera movement during supported exposures. |
| Other documented focal lengths | 35mm and 13mm ultra-wide options | Different focal lengths let you choose framing without relying only on digital enlargement. |
When comparing another Nubia phone, check the primary sensor size and aperture, whether optical stabilization is present, the physical focal lengths, the available high-resolution modes, the closest macro focusing distance and whether the camera exposes manual or RAW controls. A higher megapixel number alone does not establish that one model will resolve more real-world detail in every light.
Stability is part of the camera setting
Sharp detail requires the camera and subject to stay still for the relevant exposure. Hold the phone with both hands, keep elbows close to your body and press the shutter gently. For 50M, macro and longer Pro exposures, use a universal smartphone tripod or another firm support. Do not move the phone immediately after tapping the shutter if the camera is still processing.
Support cannot freeze a moving subject. If a person shifts, a leaf moves in wind or a vehicle crosses the frame, use Sport or a faster Pro shutter. Conversely, a fast shutter cannot correct a focus point placed on the background. Treat stability, focus and shutter choice as separate checks.
Troubleshooting soft or inconsistent detail
| What you see | Likely cause | What to change |
|---|---|---|
| The whole frame is smeared | Phone or subject movement during capture | Brace the phone, use a tripod, switch to Sport or shorten the Pro shutter. |
| Only the intended subject is soft | Focus landed on another object or the distance changed | Tap the important detail, use manual focus or AFL, then retake without moving the subject. |
| Highlights lose texture | Exposure is too bright for reflective or sunlit areas | Drag exposure lower or reduce EV; recheck the brightest part of the frame. |
| The picture is noisy in dim light | ISO is high or the scene is underexposed | Support the phone, use Night for a static scene, or add light before raising ISO further. |
| Colors change between frames | Auto white balance or changing illumination | Use WBL or a fixed white balance in Pro when the light is unchanged. |
| Close-up detail is missing | The selected camera cannot focus at that distance | Switch to the model’s macro-capable camera, move back slightly and tap the subject again. |
| 50M looks less detailed than Photo | Movement, missed focus or insufficient light | Use support, improve light, lock focus and compare a genuinely sharp frame rather than the mode label. |
Clean the lens before diagnosing software or hardware. A thin fingerprint can reduce contrast and make fine texture look hazy, especially around lights and reflective surfaces.
Limits you should check on your particular Nubia phone
The nubia Air manual confirms the controls and modes described above for that model, but it does not establish a universal menu path, RAW or DNG availability, or identical ISO and shutter ranges for every Nubia phone. Firmware, camera module and market region can change which modes are shown.
Before relying on a setting for important work, open the camera and verify that your phone actually shows 50M, Pro, AFL, AEL, WBL, Sport, Night or macro controls. If a control is missing, use the closest documented mode rather than assuming a hidden gesture will enable it. Model-specific specifications such as the Z60S Pro’s 35mm, 13mm ultra-wide and 80mm telephoto arrangement, its 2.5cm macro capability and its OIS should be treated as that phone’s features only.
The most reliable test is a short, controlled comparison: photograph the same static subject in Photo and 50M, then repeat with support and a locked focus point. Inspect the fine detail at the same magnification. This reveals whether your lighting, focus and stability are limiting the result more than the selected resolution.
