What is the best calculator app for Windows?
Windows Calculator is the best starting point for most Windows users. It ships with Windows rather than requiring a separate download. Microsoft describes it as a modern Windows app written in C++ and C# that is pre-installed with the operating system.

- Standard: routine arithmetic and percentage work.
- Scientific: functions needed for more advanced numeric calculations.
- Graphing: plotting equations and examining their relationships visually.
- Programmer: calculations for programmers, including work that depends on number bases.
- Date: calculating the interval between dates or finding a date from an offset.
The app also documents unit and currency converters, calculation history, memory functions and an always-on-top option. That combination makes it unusually broad for a built-in desktop calculator: you can keep it visible while using another application, review earlier calculations instead of re-entering them, and switch from arithmetic to conversion or graphing without installing a second tool.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
How to use the Windows modes
- Open Calculator from the Windows Start menu or search.
- Open its mode selector and choose Standard, Scientific, Graphing, Programmer or Date.
- For a conversion, choose the relevant unit or currency category and enter the value.
- For a previous result, open calculation history; for a value you will reuse, use the memory controls.
- When you need the calculator to remain visible, enable the always-on-top option.
Windows Calculator is therefore the sensible baseline for schoolwork, office arithmetic, date planning, unit conversion and many programming or graphing tasks. The available evidence does not establish its speed or numerical accuracy against competing apps, so treat those as questions for your own workload rather than proven advantages.
Is there a good calculator for Mac?
Apple Calculator is the best first choice on a Mac because it combines ordinary arithmetic with several advanced workflows in the built-in app. Apple’s current Mac guide documents basic, scientific and programmer modes, plus Math Notes, RPN, calculation history and unit and currency conversion.
Apple Calculator’s useful Mac workflows
- Basic mode: ordinary arithmetic and quick totals.
- Scientific mode: scientific functions without changing apps.
- Programmer mode: calculations suited to programming and base-oriented work.
- Math Notes: write expressions and variables in a note-style workspace rather than entering one isolated result at a time.
- RPN: use reverse Polish notation when that is your preferred entry method.
- History: inspect earlier calculations instead of relying on memory or a separate tape.
- Unit and currency conversion: convert measurements and currencies from the same application.
For a Mac owner who wants a dependable desktop calculator with no account decision or separate installation to make, start here. The documentation establishes these capabilities, but it does not provide a cross-app benchmark or a current price comparison.

When Apple Calculator is enough
Choose it for homework, budgeting, conversions, date-independent arithmetic, scientific formulas, programmer-oriented calculations and occasional RPN use. Math Notes is particularly useful when the calculation needs surrounding explanation or variables, because the work can be kept as an expression-oriented note rather than a sequence of anonymous button presses.
When should you choose PCalc on Apple devices?
PCalc is the strongest documented fit for people who want a customizable, programmable calculator on Apple platforms. Apple’s editorial description calls it a calculator that can be “as simple or full-featured as you need it to be.” Its documented feature set goes well beyond a basic four-function layout.
Rank #2
- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
PCalc’s documented advanced features
- Scientific and engineering calculations.
- Programming-oriented functions and base conversion.
- RPN entry.
- Unit and other conversions.
- Macros for repeatable operations.
- Customizable layouts and a programmable approach.
- Multiline display for seeing more of an expression at once.
- Constants, engineering notation and scientific notation.
- Paper tape, undo and redo.
- Apple Watch support in the app listing.
That makes PCalc a better fit than a simple built-in calculator when you routinely switch between engineering notation, programming bases, RPN, reusable macros and a visible calculation tape. It is also a natural choice for an Apple user who wants the same advanced style of calculator across more than one Apple device, subject to the compatibility and purchase terms shown in the current store listing.
PCalc rating and what it does not prove
The Apple App Store listing available in October 2026 showed 4.7 out of 5 from 772 ratings. That is a store-rating snapshot, not a laboratory measurement of accuracy, speed, battery impact or professional suitability. Pricing and platform availability can change, so check the current listing before buying.
What is the best scientific calculator app for iPhone and Android?
Desmos Scientific Calculator is the clearest free cross-platform recommendation in the current comparison. It is recommended for scientific functions on both iPhone and Android, making it a practical choice when you use different mobile platforms or want a consistent scientific-calculator option without paying for a dedicated hardware calculator.
What Desmos Scientific Calculator is for
- Scientific functions on a phone or tablet.
- A free mobile option for both iPhone and Android.
- A straightforward choice when you do not need a camera-based explanation of every algebra step.
The available evidence supports the feature and platform recommendation, but not claims that Desmos is faster, more accurate, less battery-intensive or easier to use than every alternative. Those characteristics were not established through controlled testing.
Which calculator app can graph equations?
You have two documented choices, depending on the device you already use:

Windows Calculator for desktop graphing
Windows Calculator includes a dedicated Graphing mode alongside its Standard, Scientific and Programmer modes. It is the convenient option when you are already working on a Windows computer and want graphing next to ordinary calculations, date work, conversions or programming functions.
Recommended Free Tools
Desmos Graphing Calculator for mobile graphing
Desmos separates graphing from its scientific calculator in a dedicated Desmos Graphing Calculator app. Choose it when plotting and exploring equations is the main task on an iPhone or Android device. The separation is useful: the scientific app is aimed at numeric functions, while the graphing app is aimed at visualizing equations.
No controlled comparison in the available evidence establishes which graphing interface is faster or more accurate. Select based on platform and whether you want a desktop built-in tool or a dedicated mobile graphing app.
Is there a calculator that shows the steps?
Photomath is the best fit when you want to photograph a problem and study step-by-step output. It serves a different purpose from a conventional calculator: instead of only returning a number, it is designed around capturing a problem with the camera and presenting an explanation of the solution process.
A practical Photomath workflow
- Open Photomath and allow camera access if the operating system asks.
- Frame the printed or handwritten problem so the entire expression is visible.
- Capture or select the problem for recognition.
- Review the displayed solution and open the step-by-step explanation.
- Compare each step with your notes; use the result as a learning aid rather than copying an answer without understanding the operation.
Photomath is therefore the right answer to “Which calculator explains the steps?” but not necessarily the right answer to “Which calculator is best for RPN, programming bases or engineering notation?” Those are separate workflows served by Apple Calculator, PCalc or Windows Calculator.

What about natural-language calculator apps?
Some calculator apps are designed to read calculations in a more document-like or conversational way. Apple’s App Store editorial describes Calca as “a mathematical word processor,” meaning a text editor optimized for documents centered on calculations. The same editorial says Soulver lets people work with numbers “the way you’d talk about them,” providing context to calculations.
Those descriptions make Calca and Soulver interesting options for text-based calculation notes and natural-language input. The available material does not establish a complete, current comparison of their Windows, Mac, iPhone or Android coverage, pricing, graphing, offline behavior or account requirements, so they are not ranked above the platform-specific recommendations.

How to choose without overbuying
Choose the built-in app first
If you mainly need arithmetic, conversions, history and occasional scientific work, Windows Calculator or Apple Calculator avoids an extra installation and gives you the core functions documented for each desktop platform.
Choose by your notation system
RPN users should look first at Apple Calculator or PCalc on Apple devices. PCalc is the more extensive choice when RPN is combined with macros, engineering notation, programming bases, paper tape or a customizable layout.
Choose by visual output
For equation plots, use Windows Calculator’s Graphing mode on Windows or Desmos Graphing Calculator on mobile. A scientific mode alone is not the same as a graphing workspace.

Choose by learning goal
If the important output is an explanation, not just a result, Photomath’s camera-and-steps workflow is the relevant distinction. A conventional calculator may calculate correctly while still offering no instructional breakdown.
Choose by device mix
For iPhone-and-Android households or students who change phones, Desmos Scientific Calculator is the documented free cross-platform scientific option. For Apple-only technical work, compare Apple’s built-in calculator with PCalc’s deeper customization and programmable features.
