Best Business SIMs with Large Data Allowances and International Roaming (UK, 2026)

For the largest UK data allowance, start with Three Business: its 500GB and unlimited SIM-only tiers are the biggest published options in this comparison. Vodafone is the clearest benchmark for frequent international travel because it advertises 25GB of roaming in 84 worldwide destinations, although that allowance is still capped even when UK data is unlimited. EE, Three and O2 can work well, but their roaming depends more heavily on daily charges, destination zones, fair-use limits or passes.

No business SIM is automatically unlimited worldwide. Treat UK data and roaming data as separate allowances, check the destinations you visit, and confirm the current price and terms immediately before signing because carrier pages and roaming rules change frequently.

What “unlimited” means on a business SIM

“Unlimited” normally describes data in the UK. It does not remove roaming limits, destination restrictions or fair-use controls. Vodafone’s 2026 guide pairs unlimited UK data with a 25GB roaming cap. Three’s Boundless plans pair unlimited UK data with 12GB in Go Roam Europe. O2 applies a 25GB monthly fair-use cap to unlimited-data plans and standard inclusive or daily roaming destinations.

After a roaming allowance is exhausted, the carrier may stop data, require a pass, charge a daily fee or apply out-of-bundle rates. The exact consequence is tariff-specific, so read the roaming section rather than relying on the headline “unlimited” label.

Three Business: the largest published UK allowances

500GB or unlimited for heavy domestic use

Three lists 3GB, 25GB, 80GB, 500GB and unlimited SIM-only allowances. Its 24-month price examples are £19 for 3GB, £20 for 25GB, £23 for 80GB, £29 for 500GB and £32 for unlimited. Those examples put 500GB only £3 below unlimited and 80GB £6 below unlimited, but the best value depends on whether your users can actually consume the additional capacity and whether the quoted tariff is still available when you apply.

A 500GB SIM is suitable for a mobile router serving a small office, temporary site or backup connection when usage is concentrated in the UK. Unlimited removes the need to monitor a monthly ceiling, but it still does not make overseas use unlimited.

Go Roam limits

Three charges £2 per day in Europe, £5 per day in Around the World destinations and £7 per day in Around the World Extra destinations. Boundless SIM-only plans include 12GB of data in Go Roam Europe. The daily charge is triggered by use, so a trip with several active days can cost materially more than the base SIM price; calculate the number of days you expect to connect before choosing a plan.

When Three is the right starting point

  • Choose the 500GB tier when your requirement is very high but measurable and mainly UK-based.
  • Choose unlimited when fluctuating UK traffic makes a ceiling risky and the £32 24-month example remains available.
  • Look beyond the headline allowance if staff regularly travel: the 12GB European roaming allowance and daily worldwide charges may matter more than another 100GB in the UK.

Vodafone Business: a simple international benchmark

84 destinations and 25GB roaming

Vodafone’s business SIM-only offer advertises inclusive roaming in 84 worldwide destinations with a 25GB allowance. Its 2026 Business Evolve guide lists 2GB, 4GB, 12GB, 25GB, 100GB and unlimited UK data tiers; the unlimited tier still carries a 25GB roaming cap.

This structure is easy to explain to a travelling team: select the UK allowance you need, then budget up to 25GB per month across the listed destinations. “84 worldwide destinations” is not the same as every country, so check the destination list for each employee’s itinerary. A country outside the inclusive group may fall under a different zone, pass or charge.

Who benefits most

Vodafone is a strong first comparison for consultants, sales teams and executives who need predictable roaming in several countries rather than the absolute largest UK allowance. It is also a useful reference point when evaluating another carrier: ask whether its roaming allowance, destination count and out-of-bundle policy are at least as clear.

EE Business: shared billing and Europe-zone simplicity

Small-business and data-only options

EE offers small-business SIM-only plans, including a shared plan that lets users share data while keeping one fixed monthly bill. Its business data SIM page covers data-only options, which can fit a tablet, laptop or mobile router where voice and text services are unnecessary.

Europe-zone daily charge

EE states: “You’ll pay £2.38 for each day you use your phone in our Europe Zone.” The same plan information says plan minutes, texts and data can be used in the EU, USA, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, China and South Africa. However, no EE Business plan includes mobile data outside its Europe Zone as standard. That distinction matters: the listed countries may support use of included services, while data outside the Europe Zone may need a separate arrangement.

For a team that travels together or has uneven usage, shared billing can be more practical than buying the same large allowance for every person. For a router, confirm that the chosen data-only SIM permits the intended device and that the daily roaming rule applies to that device class.

O2 Business: fair-use caps and Rest-of-World passes

25GB monthly roaming fair use

O2 says unlimited-data plans and standard inclusive or daily roaming destinations have a 25GB monthly data fair-use cap while roaming. The cap applies to roaming usage even when domestic data is described as unlimited, so heavy overseas users should measure expected consumption against 25GB per billing month.

30-day passes and out-of-zone risk

O2 publishes Rest-of-World 30-day passes, with some zones providing a data allowance only. Its roaming-cost information lists Europe-zone countries and warns that, without a pass or offer, data outside that zone can cost £6 per MB. At that rate, background synchronisation or a laptop tethering session can create a substantial bill quickly. Disable roaming data until the correct pass or offer is active when travelling outside the included zone.

How roaming geography changes the real cost

Every carrier divides destinations into zones, but the labels are not interchangeable. “Europe” can have one daily price, “Around the World” another, and “Around the World Extra” a third. A worldwide destination count can include countries that a competing carrier places in a paid zone. Rest-of-World passes may last 30 days, whereas a daily charge applies only on days you use the service.

Build a destination list before selecting a SIM:

  1. Write down every country employees will visit in a typical billing period.
  2. Mark whether each country is in the carrier’s Europe, inclusive-worldwide, Around the World, Around the World Extra or Rest-of-World category.
  3. Record the allowance and charging method for that zone: included gigabytes, daily fee, 30-day pass or pay-as-you-go rate.
  4. Estimate the number of active days and compare daily fees with a pass.
  5. Check what happens at the allowance limit and whether the user can buy another pass.

Is 500GB enough for a business mobile router?

500GB is a very large monthly allowance, but “enough” depends on what the router carries. A fixed office using cloud applications, email, web tools and ordinary video meetings may remain well below the limit; a site downloading operating-system images, synchronising large media libraries, backing up workstations or serving many users can consume much more. The decisive variables are user count, video resolution, backup schedules, operating-system updates and whether the router is the primary connection or a failover link.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A practical sizing method

  1. Take the router’s last three monthly usage readings, if available, and use the highest month as the baseline.
  2. Add the traffic from planned new users, cameras, cloud backups or software distribution.
  3. Apply a safety margin for seasonal peaks and failed updates; choose a higher tier if the resulting figure approaches the allowance.
  4. Decide whether overseas use is included separately. A 500GB UK allowance does not transfer to 500GB abroad.
  5. Set alerts on the router or carrier account and review usage after the first billing cycle.

If the router is used mainly as emergency connectivity, a smaller plan may be sufficient and cheaper. If exceeding the limit would interrupt trading, the unlimited UK tier can be justified even when average usage is lower.

Shared data, voice and text: features that change value

Data allowance is only one part of a business tariff. EE explicitly offers a shared plan with one fixed monthly bill, which can reduce administration when several users have different consumption patterns. A shared pool can also be wasteful if one employee regularly exhausts it; ask whether administrators can set per-user limits or alerts.

Data-only SIMs are useful in routers, tablets and laptops but do not replace a voice line. Conversely, a phone SIM with minutes and texts may cost more than necessary for a sensor or router. The available information does not establish voice and text inclusions for Three, Vodafone or O2 comparable plans, so confirm those fields on the exact quote. EE states that plan minutes, texts and data can be used in its listed countries, subject to the relevant zone rules.

Contract term, eligibility and device checks

Contract length

Three’s published examples are for 24-month SIM-only contracts. Comparable contract terms for EE, Vodafone and O2 are not established here and may vary by tariff, credit status and business size. A shorter term can cost more per month but may suit a project; a 24-month term can lower the monthly price while limiting your ability to change allowances.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Business eligibility

EE specifically presents small-business plans. Other carriers market business tariffs, but the available plan information does not define a single employee-count threshold for every offer. Ask whether the tariff is intended for sole traders, small companies, public-sector organisations or larger accounts, and whether a company registration or credit check is required.

SIM and device compatibility

Before ordering, match the SIM format and network bands to the unlocked phone, tablet or router. Confirm whether the tariff permits tethering, unattended router use and data-only operation. Check the carrier’s activation process, APN requirements and support model for a multi-user account; these practical details can matter more than a small difference in monthly gigabytes.

Common failure modes and fixes

“Unlimited” data stops abroad

Cause: the plan’s unlimited label applies only in the UK. Fix: check the roaming cap before travel, buy the required pass or enable a local connection, and disable automatic cloud backup while roaming.

A destination is not covered

Cause: the country is outside the carrier’s Europe or inclusive-worldwide list, or it belongs to a higher-cost zone. Fix: verify the country’s exact zone and price before departure; do not infer coverage from a neighbouring country.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Unexpected daily charges

Cause: the phone or router used mobile data on a day that triggered a roaming fee. EE charges £2.38 per Europe-Zone usage day; Three charges £2, £5 or £7 depending on its zone. Fix: turn off data roaming until needed, use Wi-Fi where appropriate and compare a pass with the expected number of active days.

Bill shock outside an included zone

Cause: O2 warns that data outside its Europe zone can cost £6 per MB without a pass or offer. Fix: purchase the appropriate Rest-of-World pass first, confirm activation, and set a spending control if the account provides one.

Router exceeds its allowance

Cause: backups, video or multiple users consume more than forecast. Fix: inspect usage by device, schedule large transfers on a fixed connection, set alerts and move to 500GB or unlimited UK data if the pattern is persistent.

Choosing the right plan by scenario

UK office or temporary site with very high usage

Start with Three’s 500GB tier and compare its unlimited tier. Use the 24-month examples (£29 and £32 respectively) only as a starting reference, then confirm the current quote and whether the router is permitted.

What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.

Frequent travel across several worldwide destinations

Start with Vodafone’s 84-destination, 25GB roaming bundle and map every country against its list. Compare the 25GB cap with each traveller’s expected monthly use; unlimited UK data will not increase it.

Small team wanting one bill

Evaluate EE’s shared plan. Confirm the shared-pool size, overage controls, Europe-Zone daily charge and the treatment of destinations outside that zone.

Occasional travel outside Europe

Compare Three’s zone-based daily prices with O2’s 30-day Rest-of-World passes. A pass may suit a longer trip, while a daily charge can be cheaper for a short itinerary; calculate both using the actual travel days.

Procurement checklist

  • UK allowance and whether it is shared or per SIM.
  • Roaming allowance stated separately from UK data.
  • Exact destination list and zone for every country used.
  • Daily charge, 30-day pass price or pay-as-you-go rate.
  • What happens when the roaming or UK allowance is exhausted.
  • Contract length, setup fees, taxes and cancellation terms.
  • Voice and text inclusion, if required.
  • SIM format, network compatibility, tethering and router support.
  • Business eligibility, account administration and spending controls.
  • Current price-guide date and effective date of any promotion.

Recheck these items immediately before purchase. Carrier pages are frequently updated, and a tariff name can remain familiar while its allowance, destination list or roaming price changes.
