Best overall direction: buy a current Windows 11 laptop with 16GB of RAM, an NVMe solid-state drive and, if Blender or complex 3D scenes are part of the plan, a discrete graphics processor. Roblox Studio itself has low published requirements, but coding, browser tabs, asset tools and Blender quickly make 8GB feel restrictive. A concrete configuration to investigate is the Lenovo LOQ 15i Gen 10 with a Ryzen 5 220 processor, Nvidia RTX 5050 graphics, 16GB DDR5 memory, a 500GB SSD and a 15-inch 1920×1080 144Hz display. Creative Bloq listed that configuration at approximately £699/$899 in 2026; verify the exact retailer SKU, power limit, memory layout, storage, warranty and current price before buying.
If your work will remain inside Studio with simple parts and Luau scripts, integrated graphics can be sufficient. If you expect to model in Blender, edit meshes, use detailed lighting or render images, spend more of the budget on a discrete GPU and a laptop that can be upgraded to 32GB of RAM.

What a Roblox Studio laptop really needs
Roblox Creator Hub lists Windows 10 or macOS 10.14 as minimum operating systems, with Windows 11 and macOS 14 or newer recommended. Its published memory figures are 3GB minimum and 8GB recommended, and it recommends a 1600×900-or-higher display. Those numbers describe whether Studio can launch and operate; they do not describe a comfortable development setup with an editor, browser documentation, image files and a second 3D application open at the same time.
Roblox’s general hardware guidance calls for DirectX 10 or higher on Windows and a recent processor. It describes best performance as more likely on a computer less than five years old with a dedicated video card, or on a laptop less than three years old with integrated graphics. That is useful age guidance, not a promise of a particular frame rate. Roblox Studio is bundled with the Roblox engine, so the editor uses the same engine that players encounter in published games. This makes a reasonably modern development laptop valuable even when a small starter project runs on older hardware.

Blender changes the target. Blender lists 8GB RAM as a minimum and 32GB as recommended. Blender 4.5 LTS also documents operating-system and GPU support limits that can change by release, so check the requirements for the specific Blender version you install rather than assuming that any laptop that opens Studio will support every Blender feature.
| Requirement | Published or practical level | What it means when shopping |
|---|---|---|

| Memory for Studio | 3GB minimum; 8GB recommended by Roblox | 8GB is a practical floor, while 16GB is the sensible starting point for Studio, scripting and browser tools. |
| Memory for Blender | 8GB minimum; 32GB recommended by Blender | Choose a laptop with two accessible memory slots, or otherwise verify whether its memory can be replaced or expanded. |
| Graphics | DirectX 10 or newer on Windows; integrated graphics can suit basic Studio work | A discrete RTX-class GPU provides more headroom for Blender viewports, lighting and rendering. |
| Display | 1600×900 or higher recommended by Roblox | A 1920×1080 panel is a practical baseline for seeing the 3D viewport and code without constant scrolling. |
The concrete budget configuration to investigate
Creative Bloq’s 2026 budget game-development selection was a Lenovo LOQ 15i Gen 10 configured with a Ryzen 5 220, Nvidia RTX 5050, 16GB DDR5 RAM, a 500GB SSD and a 15-inch 1920×1080 144Hz screen. The cited price was approximately £699/$899. Treat every one of those details as belonging to that reviewed configuration, not to every LOQ 15i Gen 10 sold under the same family name.
| Part of the cited configuration | Specification | Why it fits a beginner workflow | What to verify before checkout |
|---|---|---|---|
| Processor | AMD Ryzen 5 220 | A current mainstream processor is a reasonable starting point for Luau scripting, asset preparation and light 3D work. | Confirm the processor name in the listing; laptop families can ship with different CPUs. |
| Graphics | Nvidia RTX 5050 | A discrete GPU offers more viewport, lighting and rendering headroom than basic integrated graphics. | Check the exact GPU, its laptop power limit and the installed graphics memory. |
| Memory | 16GB DDR5 | Meets the practical target for Studio plus development tools. | Find out whether it is one module or two, and whether an upgrade to 32GB is supported. |
| Storage | 500GB SSD | Enough to start with Studio, Blender and a modest project library. | Confirm that it is an NVMe SSD and check whether a second drive slot exists. |
| Screen | 15-inch, 1920×1080, 144Hz | Exceeds Roblox’s 1600×900 recommendation and gives a useful working area. | Verify panel resolution, brightness, color coverage and refresh rate on the exact SKU. |
| Price cited by Creative Bloq | Approximately £699/$899 in 2026 | Provides a reference point for a balanced budget configuration. | Prices, stock, regional taxes and specifications change; compare the current listing in your country. |
No cited source provides a reproducible Roblox Studio benchmark for this exact laptop. Do not buy it expecting a guaranteed frame rate. Its value is the balance of 16GB memory, an SSD and discrete graphics at the cited price, subject to the actual listing.
How much RAM should you buy?
8GB: workable floor, not a comfortable long-term target
Roblox recommends 8GB, and a simple Studio place can run with that amount. The operating system, Studio, a web browser, image-editing utilities and a communication app all compete for the same memory, however. Once physical memory is full, the system relies more heavily on storage, which feels like pauses when switching windows or loading assets. An 8GB laptop is reasonable only when the budget is extremely tight, the project is small and the memory can be upgraded.
16GB: the sensible starting point
Sixteen gigabytes gives Studio, Luau scripting, documentation tabs and ordinary asset work room to coexist. It is the target to use when comparing budget models and the capacity installed in the cited LOQ configuration. Check whether the laptop uses two 8GB modules or one 16GB module; the latter may leave an empty slot, while the former may offer a different upgrade path depending on the chassis.

32GB: preferred for Blender and multitasking
Blender’s recommendation is 32GB. Choose it at purchase when the price difference is acceptable, or select a 16GB model with accessible, replaceable memory. Larger meshes, texture work, a browser full of references and Studio open together are the situations in which the extra capacity matters most. Do not assume that a laptop can be upgraded simply because its product family has a higher-memory variant: verify the service manual or the manufacturer’s specification for the exact model.
Do you need a dedicated graphics card?
Integrated graphics
Integrated graphics can be adequate for Roblox Studio and simple modeling. This is the lowest-cost and usually lightest route for learning parts, terrain basics and Luau. It is a sensible choice when Blender will be occasional and scenes will remain small. Integrated graphics share system memory, so the amount and configuration of RAM matter more than they do on a laptop with dedicated video memory.

A discrete RTX-class GPU is useful when the plan includes Blender viewport work, more complex lighting or rendering. It gives those workloads dedicated graphics resources and leaves system memory available for the operating system and applications. The GPU alone does not make a laptop a good development machine: cooling, processor performance, memory and storage still determine how consistently it sustains a workload.
| Your likely work | Graphics direction | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Studio building, scripting and small scenes | Modern integrated graphics can be adequate | Lower cost and often less weight, but less headroom for Blender and demanding scenes. |
| Studio plus basic Blender modeling | Integrated graphics with 16GB RAM, preferably upgradeable | Can work for learning, but viewport complexity and render workloads will be more constrained. |
| Regular Blender modeling, lighting or rendering | Discrete RTX-class GPU, 16GB minimum and a path to 32GB | Usually higher cost, weight, fan noise and power use in exchange for graphics headroom. |
Processor and cooling: avoid the thin-spec trap
Roblox’s guidance asks for a recent processor, but it does not define a clock speed that guarantees smooth large scenes. A current mainstream CPU is the better comparison point than a high advertised burst frequency. Look for the exact processor generation and core configuration in the listing, then read the chassis specifications for cooling and power modes.
Game-development work can keep a CPU or GPU busy while compiling scripts, importing assets or rendering. A laptop that is fast for a short burst may reduce speed when heat builds. Favor a chassis with room for airflow, a cooling profile you can control and a power adapter sized for the discrete GPU if one is installed. Expect more fan noise and lower battery life while developing on battery or under sustained load; those are normal trade-offs rather than evidence of a fault.

Storage, screen and portability decisions
Storage capacity
An NVMe SSD should be the default for Studio and Blender. It reduces the waiting involved in launching applications and opening project files compared with a mechanical hard drive. Five hundred gigabytes is enough to begin with, including the two applications and a modest set of assets. A 1TB SSD reduces pressure from source files, exported builds, Blender caches and reference media. If you select a 500GB model, check whether the drive can be replaced or whether a second M.2 slot is available.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteScreen size and resolution
Roblox recommends at least 1600×900. A 1920×1080 screen is a practical baseline because the 3D viewport, Explorer panels, Properties and code editor all compete for space. A 15-inch panel, such as the one in the cited LOQ configuration, is a compromise between workspace and portability. Higher refresh rates are pleasant for navigation, but they should not displace RAM, SSD capacity or a suitable GPU when the budget is limited.
Portability, battery and noise
Discrete-GPU laptops generally weigh more and run louder than integrated-graphics models. Decide whether you will build at a desk, carry the machine to school or use it away from an outlet. For desk use, prioritize cooling and an upgrade path. For frequent travel, accept lower graphics headroom rather than paying for a heavy configuration you will not carry. Battery-runtime figures vary by test method and configuration, so compare the exact model rather than relying on a family name.
Choosing by budget without being misled by model names
Laptop names often cover several CPUs, GPUs, displays and memory layouts. Shop by the complete SKU, not by the family label. The cited Lenovo configuration is a useful search starting point around £699/$899, but a listing with the same family name could have integrated graphics, 8GB RAM, a smaller SSD or a different screen.
- Very tight budget: prioritize 16GB RAM if possible, an SSD and a recent processor. Integrated graphics are acceptable for Studio and simple modeling. If only 8GB fits, confirm that memory is upgradeable and budget for the upgrade.
- Balanced beginner budget: target 16GB, a 500GB or larger NVMe SSD and a discrete GPU if Blender is part of the weekly workflow. The cited LOQ configuration illustrates this balance without proving a benchmark result.
- Blender-focused budget: start from 32GB or a clearly documented upgrade path, then choose the strongest discrete GPU and cooling system the budget allows. Do not sacrifice system memory merely for a higher GPU tier.
A step-by-step buying checklist
- Write down the workload. Decide whether you will use only Studio, Studio plus scripting and browser tools, or Studio together with Blender modeling and rendering.
- Set the memory target. Use 16GB as the practical Studio starting point. Use 32GB, or a verified upgrade path, for Blender-heavy work.
- Choose graphics based on that workload. Integrated graphics can cover simple Studio projects; select a discrete RTX-class GPU for more demanding Blender viewports, lighting and rendering.
- Confirm the operating system. Prefer Windows 11 on a new Windows laptop. Check that the exact model supports current updates and graphics drivers.
- Confirm the exact CPU and cooling design. Record the processor model, not just the marketing family, and look for a chassis intended to sustain load.
- Check storage and expansion. Require an SSD; 500GB is a starting capacity and 1TB is more comfortable. Verify replaceable-drive and second-slot details.
- Inspect the display specification. Ensure at least 1600×900, with 1920×1080 preferred for daily development. Verify the panel on the exact SKU.
- Read the memory layout and warranty terms. Confirm whether RAM is soldered, how many slots are occupied and what upgrades the manufacturer supports without voiding coverage.
- Compare the complete price in your region. Include tax, delivery and any required memory or storage upgrade. The £699/$899 figure for the cited LOQ configuration is not a universal or permanent price.
A beginner workflow that grows with the laptop
Start in Studio
Roblox’s official getting-started material teaches a simple 3D platformer. Begin with that kind of project: learn the viewport, place and transform parts, organize objects, test in the same engine used by players and write small Luau scripts. This stage works on a wider range of laptops and teaches project organization before you add asset-production complexity.

Add Blender when you have a concrete asset to make
The same official learning material points learners interested in 3D modeling toward using Blender with Studio to make a basic 3D accessory. Install Blender after Studio projects and scripting feel familiar. Model one small asset, keep the source file with the project, export it using the workflow required by the current tools and test the result in Studio. This staged approach lets an integrated-graphics laptop remain useful while showing exactly when a discrete GPU or more memory would improve your work.
Keep projects and tools organized
Use separate folders for source files, exported assets and published project copies. Keep enough free SSD space for temporary files and backups. If you work on a 500GB drive, archive finished exports to another location rather than allowing the system drive to fill completely.

Ignoring Blender’s version requirements
Blender 4.5 LTS documents support limits that are specific to that release. Recheck the requirements when you install a different Blender version, especially after changing the operating system or graphics driver.
Expecting a guaranteed frame rate
There is no cited, reproducible Roblox Studio benchmark for the Lenovo configuration above. Scene size, scripts, lighting, drivers, power mode and thermal conditions all affect behavior, so treat published component specifications as selection criteria rather than a promised result.
Troubleshooting a slow development laptop
Studio becomes sluggish when other apps are open
- Close unused browser tabs and background applications, then check whether memory use remains high.
- Confirm that the laptop is connected to its intended power adapter and is not locked to a battery-saving mode.
- Leave free space on the SSD and install current operating-system and graphics drivers supported by the laptop.
Blender viewport or rendering is the bottleneck
- Check whether the laptop has integrated or discrete graphics and whether the installed Blender release supports that GPU.
- Reduce scene complexity while learning, then consider a discrete RTX-class GPU and 32GB RAM if this is a recurring workload.
- Watch temperatures and fan behavior during sustained work; throttling indicates a cooling or power constraint rather than a missing Roblox setting.
The laptop cannot be upgraded
If memory is soldered and storage is fixed, the configuration you buy is the configuration you will use. In that case, pay for 16GB rather than planning on an upgrade, and choose 1TB if your projects will include Blender assets. Keep the warranty and service documentation with the purchase records.
Bottom-line buying decision
For most beginners, the right target is a Windows 11 laptop with 16GB RAM, an SSD and a 1080p display. Add a discrete RTX-class GPU when Blender, dense scenes, lighting or rendering are part of the plan; otherwise, modern integrated graphics can keep the entry price and weight down. The Lenovo LOQ 15i Gen 10 configuration cited by Creative Bloq—Ryzen 5 220, RTX 5050, 16GB DDR5, 500GB SSD and 15-inch 1920×1080 display at approximately £699/$899 in 2026—is a concrete configuration to price-check, not a guaranteed benchmark or a substitute for verifying the exact local SKU. Choose 32GB, or a clearly documented upgrade path, if Blender is likely to become a regular part of your work.
