Use Battery Saver for travel and low-charge periods. Reserve Super Battery Saver for emergencies because it reduces background activity, limits features and can reduce performance. If battery life worsened immediately after an OriginOS update, run Settings > Battery > Power saving management > App deep optimization > Start optimization (the wording can differ by build), then allow time for post-update indexing, app adaptation and security scans to finish. For charging health, keep the tablet cool, use the supplied charger, avoid prolonged heavy use while charging, and enable Optimized battery charging when that switch is present. Bypass Charging can help during plugged-in gaming on models that expose it, but it is not available on every iQOO tablet.

Use this order when the iQOO Pad Pro 8.8 is losing charge quickly
Battery drain has several causes, but the settings you can control most directly are background app activity and the display. Work through these in order so you can identify the change that helped instead of disabling everything at once.

Exact labels and the presence of individual switches depend on the regional OriginOS build. If a path or toggle is not displayed, do not assume that another model’s instructions apply to your tablet.

Find the apps causing standby drain
Read the per-app list before changing restrictions
- Open Settings.
- Tap Battery.
- Open the battery-usage or per-app usage view shown on your build.
- Look for apps with unusually high background use, especially apps you opened briefly or have not used recently.
- Open an app’s battery controls and apply a restriction only after considering whether it must deliver alerts or perform scheduled work.
A large percentage beside an app does not automatically mean the app is defective. A navigation app can use power because it is actively using location; a video or game can consume power because it is on screen. The useful signal for standby problems is an app that continues to consume power in the background while you are not using it.
Choose restrictions by the job an app performs
Infrequently used shopping, social, cloud-storage or promotional apps are usually better candidates for background restriction than communication and safety tools. Restricting an app can delay its sync until you open it. Keep messaging apps unrestricted if immediate messages matter, keep alarm or reminder apps unrestricted if they must trigger on time, and keep navigation apps unrestricted while you rely on route guidance or location updates.
Apply one or two changes, use the tablet normally for a day, then check the battery page again. This staged approach makes it easier to identify a particular app responsible for drain and avoids creating a notification problem by restricting everything.
Use Background power control on newer builds
For OriginOS 6 and above, iQOO Care’s published path is Settings > Battery > Background power control. Check for apps marked High background power usage. If an app is not frequently used, set it to Restrict high background power consumption in the background or choose Background power smart control. The exact wording and the “smart control” option are build-dependent, so use the closest label actually shown on the tablet.
Smart control is a compromise: the system decides when to limit background work rather than applying a constant block. A hard restriction can save more standby power for a rarely used app, but it is more likely to delay sync. For an app you use every day, smart control is generally the safer first test.

Battery Saver and Super Battery Saver: when to use each
These modes are not permanent performance upgrades. They trade background activity, responsiveness or features for additional runtime, so enable them for a specific situation rather than leaving the most restrictive mode on indefinitely.

Use Super Battery Saver when preserving a small remaining charge is more important than normal multitasking, media, gaming or immediate background updates. It is not the right default for an entire day if you need ordinary tablet performance.
Reduce the display’s power demand
Brightness
Lower brightness manually when you are indoors or in shade. Automatic brightness can be convenient, but checking the slider yourself is useful when the tablet is brighter than the room requires. Avoid keeping the display at maximum brightness for long sessions unless visibility demands it.
Screen timeout
Set a shorter screen timeout so the display turns off promptly when you put the tablet down. A timeout that is too short can interrupt reading, drawing or cooking instructions, so choose the shortest interval that does not interrupt the task.
Refresh rate
If your OriginOS build offers a refresh-rate selector, use a lower mode for reading, documents and other mostly static work. A higher mode can make scrolling and supported games look smoother, but it asks the display system to update more often. The iQOO Pad Pro 8.8’s available modes are not confirmed by the official material for every region, so use only the options displayed under your tablet’s display settings.

For long video, document or download sessions, combine a moderate refresh rate with a comfortable, rather than maximum, brightness. This preserves usability while reducing two of the most controllable sources of continuous draw.

Turn off radios and scanning you do not need
Disable Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth or other wireless radios when you are certain you will not use them for the current session. Also check the scanning controls: Wi‑Fi or Bluetooth scanning can continue even when the corresponding radio appears to be off, because scanning may assist location or nearby-device discovery. Turn scanning off when you do not need those functions, then turn it back on before using a feature that depends on discovery.
Do not disable a connection merely because it is not carrying data at this second. If the tablet needs a stable connection for a call, remote presentation, controller or keyboard, leaving that radio enabled can be more practical than repeatedly reconnecting. The goal is to remove idle discovery and unused connections, not to make the tablet inconvenient to use.
What to do after an OriginOS update
An update can temporarily increase consumption and heat while the tablet adapts apps to the new system, optimizes background behavior, organizes files and performs security scanning. iQOO Community guidance dated 2025-01-10 says that increased power consumption and heat after upgrading to OriginOS 5 can be normal during this work. It advises allowing the process to finish rather than judging battery life immediately after the first boot.
Run App deep optimization
- Open Settings.
- Tap Battery.
- Choose Power saving management.
- Open App deep optimization.
- Tap Start optimization.
The official Chinese menu path is 设置>电池>省电管理>应用深度优化>点击“开始优化”. Translated labels can differ, and some regional builds may place the function elsewhere or omit it. If the option exists, start it when you can leave the tablet connected and idle for a while.

Give the system time to settle
After optimization, use the tablet normally and allow its usage patterns to be relearned. Repeatedly forcing apps closed or changing many restrictions during this period makes it harder to tell whether the update’s background work has finished. If unusual drain and heat continue well beyond the adaptation period, return to Settings > Battery, identify the current top consumers and investigate those apps individually.

Use the supplied charger and control temperature
Use the charger supplied for the tablet and avoid charging in very hot or very cold environments. Heat is especially undesirable during charging, so do not place the tablet under bedding or in direct sun. Remove workloads that generate sustained heat if you can, and keep ventilation around the tablet.
Avoid prolonged heavy use while charging
Gaming, video export and other sustained workloads while charging can keep the tablet hot. When practical, charge before a demanding session or pause the workload while the battery is replenishing. This advice is about controlling temperature and long-term stress; it does not promise a particular charging speed or capacity retention.
Enable Optimized battery charging when available
Look in the battery or charging settings for Optimized battery charging. If the toggle is present, enable it. The feature may hold or slow charging near the upper limit based on the tablet’s charging logic. Because support is build-dependent, the absence of the switch means your current software does not expose that control; it is not a reason to install an unrelated utility.

Bypass Charging can route power to the device during a sustained plugged-in workload instead of repeatedly charging and discharging the battery. That can help reduce heat and battery stress during gaming, but iQOO states that the feature is available only on select models. The exact iQOO Pad Pro 8.8 model and regional OriginOS build were not confirmed in the official results, so verify the tablet itself.
- Connect the supplied charger and start the game or other sustained workload.
- Open the battery, gaming or performance panel where your build places charging controls.
- Look specifically for Bypass Charging.
- Enable it only if the switch is exposed and the on-screen description matches your intended use.
- Monitor temperature and disable the feature when you unplug or return to ordinary use.
Bypass Charging is a heat-management and battery-stress option, not a guarantee of longer unplugged runtime. If no switch appears, do not assume a hidden gesture or third-party application can safely add the function.
Troubleshoot standby drain with a decision path
The battery falls while the screen is off
- Open Settings > Battery and inspect background usage.
- Use Background power control for apps marked High background power usage, starting with rarely used apps.
- Check whether Wi‑Fi or Bluetooth scanning remains enabled while the radios look off.
- Keep communication, alarm and navigation apps unrestricted if delayed alerts or location updates would cause a problem.
The battery falls mainly while the screen is on
- Lower brightness and shorten screen timeout.
- Select a lower refresh-rate mode if your display settings provide one.
- Check whether a game, video app or navigation session is the foreground consumer; active use can legitimately dominate the list.
- Use Battery Saver for the remainder of a low-charge session if you can accept reduced background activity.
The tablet became hot and drains faster after an update
- Run App deep optimization > Start optimization if available.
- Allow app adaptation, file organization, indexing and security scans to finish.
- After that period, recheck per-app usage instead of assuming the update permanently damaged battery life.
Notifications stop after you restrict an app
Undo the hard background restriction for that app or switch to Background power smart control if available. Messaging, alarm and navigation software often needs permission to work while the screen is off; saving a small amount of standby power is not useful if it makes an important alert late.
How to interpret iQOO’s battery-life figures
The OriginOS page describes a Battery Life Extender and states that its test data comes from iQOO Labs. It qualifies the figures: actual performance can vary with platform, model, testing conditions and user habits. Treat the numbers as vendor test claims for the described OriginOS functionality, not as guaranteed results for every iQOO Pad Pro 8.8.
That page reports up to 18% longer standby time with a network connection. It also says that, on select models, the tablet or phone can provide about four additional minutes of talk time with 1% battery remaining. Neither statement establishes a universal endurance gain for this tablet, and availability is limited by model and build. Check whether the relevant feature or toggle exists before relying on it.
Model and software differences matter
“iQOO Pad Pro 8.8” does not by itself identify a single regional software configuration. OriginOS labels, Battery Saver behavior, refresh-rate choices, App deep optimization, Optimized battery charging, Battery Life Extender and Bypass Charging can vary by model, region and build. Use the paths in this guide as starting points and follow the labels shown on your own tablet.
If a setting is missing, do not substitute a similarly named option from another iQOO or vivo device. First install available system updates, then check the battery and charging pages again. A missing switch can simply mean that the hardware or regional software does not support that feature.
A practical everyday profile
For ordinary work, leave the tablet in its normal mode, restrict only clearly unnecessary background apps, use a comfortable moderate brightness, select a lower refresh rate for static tasks and disable radios or scanning you are not using. Turn Battery Saver on when you need to stretch a known amount of remaining charge. Keep Super Battery Saver for the situation in which staying powered on matters more than performance and immediate background updates. During plugged-in gaming, use Bypass Charging only when the tablet explicitly provides it, and keep the device cool regardless of the mode.
