First identify whether you have an A50 Gen 3, Gen 4, Gen 5, or A50 X; then use the software and audio controls supported by that model. Start from a neutral or default sound, choose a setting for a specific listening goal, and change one processing layer at a time.
Which Astro A50 generation and software do you have?
The settings interface depends on the headset generation. Logitech lists Astro Command Center for A50 Gen 3 and Gen 4, and G HUB and the Logitech G App for A50 Gen 5 and A50 X. Check Logitech’s software compatibility and download page for the current options.

Use the guide for your own generation rather than transferring menu paths or controls from another model. The A50 Gen 4 quick-start guide, for example, includes platform-specific setup and should not be treated as a Gen 5 setup guide.
What do EQ and spatial audio change?
EQ changes the relative level of parts of the sound spectrum, such as bass, mids, and treble. A spatial-audio feature processes sound to create or reproduce directional cues. The two are separate choices: adjusting EQ does not by itself enable spatial audio, and a spatial mode does not prescribe one ideal EQ curve.

The audio path can include the headset, game, and platform. Their settings are not automatically interchangeable, so keep track of which layer is active when judging a change. Logitech documents its headset EQ and preset controls; game-specific instructions may call for a different combination.
How to choose gaming EQ settings without guessing
- Confirm the headset and audio endpoint. Identify the A50 generation and whether you are using a console or PC, then select its supported software using Logitech’s compatibility page.
- Start neutral. Use the app’s neutral or default profile, or the headset’s standard mode, so you have a point of comparison.
- Pick one goal. For general play, keep a balanced sound. If a particular sound is consistently masked or harsh, adjust only the relevant tonal balance rather than applying a preset simply because it is labelled for gaming.
- Change one layer at a time. Adjust headset EQ, game audio options, or platform spatial processing separately. This makes it easier to identify what improved or worsened the sound.
- Make small, reversible changes. Compare them in the same game and scene, and return to the previous setting if the result is worse. Perception varies with preference, fit, and the game’s mix.
These steps are a practical way to evaluate preferences, not a vendor-prescribed test protocol. The available sources do not establish a universal winning curve or prove that boosting a particular frequency makes footsteps objectively easier to locate.

Gen 4: what do ASTRO, Pro, and Studio mean?
The A50 Gen 4 quick-start guide names three onboard EQ modes: ASTRO, Pro, and Studio. It does not establish one as the best choice for every game or listener. Treat them as available starting points, compare them in the title you play, and use the one that suits your preference. The guide’s platform-specific setup instructions apply to Gen 4, not automatically to later generations.

How to set spatial audio for a game
Choose the spatial mode based on the game’s own audio options and the path through which its sound reaches the headset. Avoid assuming that enabling every available spatial effect will improve positioning: the cited sources do not test all combinations or show that stacked processing is inherently better.

Call of Duty Enhanced Headphone Mode
For the specific Call of Duty Enhanced Headphone Mode setup described by Embody’s Call of Duty instructions, turn Dolby Audio off on the headset and start with a flat EQ. This guidance is limited to that game mode; it is not a general rule for other games or A50 generations.
Should you use a measured A50 X EQ curve?
Atrium Audio publishes a measurement-derived parametric EQ example for the A50 X. It is model-specific correction, not a universally recommended competitive gaming preset. Do not transfer its filter values to an A50 Gen 3, Gen 4, or Gen 5, and do not treat the measurements as proof that the curve improves in-game positioning.

Why there is no universal “best” Astro A50 EQ
The official sources document software compatibility and available controls, but do not prescribe a single best gaming EQ for all A50s. Headset generation, game mix, audio path, and listening preference all affect the result. A sensible choice is therefore a starting point you can compare and reverse—not a curve presented as objectively optimal.
