Assassin’s Creed Heredis is a live stage production, not a video game. Ubisoft has scheduled its world premiere in Montreal for December 3, 2026, with Paris performances beginning January 21, 2027. If you want something to play while you wait for the show, choose an Assassin’s Creed game by the experience you want—not by expecting a Heredis tie-in.
Which Assassin’s Creed should you play while waiting for Heredis?
Ubisoft’s franchise chronology is a useful way to compare the series’ different eras and styles. For a direct match to the familiar assassin fantasy, start with Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Choose Shadows for feudal Japan and contrasting stealth and combat approaches, or Black Flag Resynced for pirate exploration and naval fighting.

| Game | Best fit | What distinguishes it |
|---|---|---|
| Assassin’s Creed Mirage | Historical-city stealth and assassination | Basim’s story in ninth-century Baghdad; Ubisoft positions it between RPG-style play and earlier series gameplay. |
| Assassin’s Creed Shadows | Feudal Japan, stealth, or combat | Switch between Naoe’s shinobi stealth and Yasuke’s combat-focused samurai style in a world of towns, ports, shrines, and countryside. |
| Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced | Pirate exploration and naval combat | Edward Kenway’s Caribbean adventure combines naval combat, sword fighting, and a pirate-to-Assassin story. |
Choose Mirage for a focused historical-city assassin story
Assassin’s Creed Mirage follows Basim in ninth-century Baghdad. It is the closest fit of these recommendations if you want to move through a historic city, use stealth, and focus on assassination rather than a broad RPG-style journey. Ubisoft describes the game as sitting between RPG-style play and the earlier gameplay associated with the series, making it a natural starting point for fans looking for a more traditional assassin experience.

Choose Shadows for feudal Japan and two distinct playstyles
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set in feudal Japan and places two contrasting characters at the center of play. Naoe is a shinobi assassin who uses stealth, tools, parkour, and a hidden blade; Yasuke is a combat-focused samurai. Its world spans towns, ports, shrines, and countryside, so it suits players who want both a Japanese historical setting and a choice between stealth-oriented and direct combat approaches.
Ubisoft lists the game on multiple platforms, including PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC storefronts. Confirm current platform availability and the specific edition before purchasing.

How Heredis relates to upcoming Assassin’s Creed games
Ubisoft’s announcement describes Heredis as a live stage production. Its scheduled world premiere is in Montreal on December 3, 2026, and Paris performances begin January 21, 2027; Ubisoft says additional dates may be announced. Those are performance dates, not a game release schedule.
Ubisoft’s separate 2026 franchise update identifies Codename HEXE as an in-development, darker, narrative-driven Assassin’s Creed experience and Codename INVICTUS as a PvP multiplayer project. They are separate game projects, not versions of Heredis. Ubisoft says HEXE remains under development and it will share more when ready.
