Fruitstand: Device Collection is the closest match for cataloguing a personal Apple collection. It is designed for Macs, iPhones, iPads, Apple Watch, AirPods, Apple TV, iPod, HomePod, Apple Vision, and accessories, with fields for specifications, color, condition, warranty, activation-lock status, serial number, comments, and custom attributes. It also organizes items by product type and model and syncs through iCloud.
Choose Sorven: Home Asset Inventory instead when Apple products are only part of a wider household inventory, and choose IT Storage: Device Inventory for mixed technical hardware or a home lab. Find My remains essential for locating active devices, but it is not a collection database: it does not replace records for purchase details, condition, receipts, or warranty dates.

Which app fits your collection?
The right choice depends on whether you want a collector’s catalogue, a household asset register, or a technical inventory. These apps overlap on serial numbers and notes, but they are built around different jobs.
Fruitstand: Device Collection — best for an Apple-only catalogue
Fruitstand is the most Apple-specific option in this group. Its App Store listing says you can record an entire Apple collection rather than only the devices currently signed in to your account. Supported product families include Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, AirPods, Apple TV, iPod, HomePod, Apple Vision, and accessories.
#1 Best Overall
- FIND YOUR ITEMS ON FIND MY — AirTag (2nd generation) helps you keep track of what matters. Attach one to an item you want to keep track of using the Find My app.*
- EXPANDED PRECISION FINDING ON IPHONE AND APPLE WATCH — Get step-by-step directions to your lost item on iPhone and, now, Apple Watch.*
- ENHANCED SPEAKER — With a 50% louder speaker and a new, distinctive chime, it’s easier than ever to hear and find AirTag.*
- PING FROM FAR AND WIDE — Upgraded Ultra Wideband and Bluetooth chips allow you to find your items from even farther away than ever before.*
- SHARE ITEM LOCATION — Share AirTag location access temporarily and securely with trusted contacts, third parties, or over 50 airline partners if you lose something important.
For each item, the listing describes fields for specifications, color, condition, warranty status, activation-lock status, serial number, comments, and custom attributes. You can organize entries by product type and model, while iCloud sync keeps the catalogue available across your Apple devices. That combination makes it suitable for a collector who wants to distinguish several generations of a product, record cosmetic condition, and preserve identifying details even when a device is no longer in daily use.
Sorven: Home Asset Inventory — best for a whole-house register
Sorven is broader than an Apple catalogue. It supports photos, serial numbers, asset tags, make, model, year, condition, purchase information, current value, categories, locations, notes, receipts, warranty and insurance documents, maintenance history, and ownership or lifecycle status. Search, QR scanning, and barcode scanning are also listed for iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
This is the stronger fit when your Apple devices sit alongside cameras, appliances, furniture, tools, or other valuables. Location fields can show whether an item is in a home office, storage room, or another property; document fields can keep a receipt or insurance record with the asset. The trade-off is that it is a general inventory rather than an Apple-focused collection view.

IT Storage is aimed at people who maintain a lab, workshop, or home network. Its listing covers laptops, desktops, monitors, servers, switches, routers, printers, cables, and other hardware, in addition to device, warranty, and document tracking.
Use it when your inventory needs to describe infrastructure as well as personal Apple products. A Mac mini, display, router, switch, spare cable, and server can live in one technical register. It is less tailored to collector details such as Apple model families, color variants, or activation-lock state.

Hoardware — a newer iPhone-focused collector option
A 9to5Mac report describes Hoardware as an app that tracks each iPhone, its iOS version, serial number, and user notes. The report says it was free on the App Store for iOS 17 or later. Because those details come from a report about a newer app, availability and features may change; check the current App Store listing and required operating-system version before relying on it.
Hoardware is most relevant if your collection is primarily iPhone-based and you want a lightweight record of software versions and identifiers. The available description does not establish the broader Apple-family coverage, document handling, sync behavior, export options, or pricing model of the other candidates.

The available listings do not provide a reliable, current cross-app comparison of ratings, privacy architecture, export formats, or recurring prices. Treat those as installation-time checks rather than assuming that one app’s model matches another’s.
Why Find My is useful but not a collection catalogue
Find My solves a different problem: finding a device or item when you do not know where it is. Apple says the app can keep track of Apple devices even when they are offline, display devices on a map, and locate items using AirTag or Find My technology. Apple reports that its Find My network includes more than a billion iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices.
That network is valuable for a lost iPhone, a misplaced MacBook, or an item fitted with an AirTag. It does not give you a structured record of purchase date, original price, cosmetic condition, current value, receipt, insurance document, or warranty paperwork. It also is not intended to catalogue retired devices, boxed duplicates, accessories, or products that are no longer connected to your Apple Account.

- Smart Finder:The luggage GPS tracker makes it easy to manage your valuables. Working with the Find My app(IOS ONLY), you can quickly locate your items. It comes with one case, allowing you to attach the tag to your keys, wallet, backpack etc.
- Find Nearby:Use the Find My app to ring your luggage tracker when it's within Bluetooth range,or ask your Siri to find it for you.Click the 'Play Sound' Button, the tag tracker will make a sound 'di di di'. You can according to the sound find your items
- Find Far Away: When outside of Bluetooth range, use the Find My app to view your 'Item Locator's most recent location on a map. You can use the network and GPS of millions of Apple devices to locate it anywhere in the world.Reduce the loss of your items
- Share Your Items and Privacy Protection:The item finders tag lets your family view the location of your items (a feature for iOS 17).The chip in this Bluetooth tracker is MFi certified, guaranteeing that your location data is encrypted and protected
- Water Resistant & Replaceable Battery: Designed for outdoor adventures, this tracker can withstand rain, ensuring you can use it confidently in various weather conditions. Plus, it features a replaceable CR2032 battery that lasts up to a year
Use Find My alongside an inventory app. The location service helps recover an item; the catalogue preserves the ownership and documentation history.
How to build a reliable Apple collection catalogue
Whichever app you select, entering data consistently matters more than creating a large number of fields. Work through the collection in a fixed order so that every item can be identified and its documents found later.
- Gather the devices and paperwork. Put active devices, retired hardware, boxed items, accessories, receipts, AppleCare paperwork, insurance documents, and repair records in one work area. Include products stored away or loaned to a family member; a collection record should not depend on whether an item is currently powered on.
- Create one record per physical item. Do not combine two iPhones because they share the same model. Record each serial number separately, including spare, replacement, and unopened units. Use a model or product-type field to group them later.
- Capture the identifying details. Enter the product family, model, capacity or configuration, color, serial number, and any asset tag. For a Mac, include the processor or chip and memory where the app supports specifications. For an iPhone or iPad, record storage capacity and cellular or Wi-Fi variant if that distinction matters to resale or insurance.
- Describe physical condition honestly. Use a small, repeatable vocabulary such as new in box, excellent, good, fair, damaged, or for parts. Add notes for screen marks, battery condition, missing accessories, engraving, or replaced components. Consistent terms make later filtering useful.
- Record ownership and location. Note whether the item is owned, on loan, awaiting repair, sold, recycled, or retained as a collectible. Add a room, office, storage location, or family member so a search result tells you where to look.
- Attach documents and photographs. Add receipts, warranty confirmations, insurance schedules, repair invoices, and photographs of serial labels or distinctive marks. A photo is especially useful for items whose packaging is stored separately.
- Verify warranty and activation status. Check the serial number with Apple’s coverage service, then record the result and the date checked. For a device that may be sold or given away, record whether Activation Lock has been removed rather than assuming that a reset completed the process.
- Synchronize and test retrieval. If the app offers iCloud or another sync method, confirm that a newly created record appears on a second device. Search for a serial number, filter by product type, and open an attached document before considering the catalogue complete.
Serial numbers, warranty, and AppleCare records
Serial numbers are the key that connects your own catalogue to Apple’s support systems. Apple Support says it uses serial numbers associated with your Apple Account, along with serial numbers you enter into Check Coverage, to provide service and confirm coverage status and eligibility. Enter the number exactly as shown; confusing a zero with the letter O can produce a false no-match.
Store the date on which you checked coverage. Warranty and AppleCare eligibility can change, and a current result is more useful than an undated screenshot. Keep the original receipt as well, because a coverage lookup does not replace proof of purchase in every service situation.
For second-hand devices, add a transfer note with the seller, purchase date, and any remaining coverage. Before sale, confirm that the previous owner has signed out and removed Activation Lock. A catalogue field can remind you to perform that check, but the app cannot remove the lock for you.

- Find Nearby: When your tracker is within Bluetooth range, you can use the Find My app to play a sound, or simply ask Siri to locate it for you. Tap the “Play Sound” button, and the tracker will emit a clear beep to help you quickly find your items by following the sound.
- Find Far Away: Once your tracker is beyond Bluetooth range, you can still check its last recorded position in the Find My app. Supported by Apple’s worldwide network and GPS, you can locate your items across the globe and effectively avoid losing them.
- Waterproof Design & Replaceable Battery: This sturdy tracking tag is water-resistant and ideal for outdoor use. It comes with a user-replaceable CR2032 battery that delivers up to one year of dependable performance.
Privacy, sync, export, and pricing checks before you commit
The listings establish useful features, but they do not establish a complete privacy or commercial comparison. Review the current product page and privacy information for the app you choose, paying particular attention to where photographs, receipts, serial numbers, and insurance documents are stored.
- Storage: Determine whether records stay on the device, use iCloud, or are uploaded to the developer’s service. Ask how deletion works and whether attachments are included.
- Sync: Check which Apple platforms are supported, whether sync is automatic, and what happens after reinstalling or moving to a new Apple Account.
- Export: Look for CSV, JSON, PDF, or image export before entering hundreds of records. If export is not stated, assume you may need to recreate data manually until the developer confirms otherwise.
- Pricing: Verify whether the displayed price is a one-time purchase, a subscription, or a free tier with limits. App Store prices and terms can vary by region and change over time.
- Security: Use a strong device passcode and protect the Apple Account that controls any cloud sync. Serial numbers and receipts are valuable identity and ownership information even though they are not passwords.
- Attachments: Test the maximum file size, supported formats, and whether document backups are included in the app’s sync or export.
Choose by collection type
You own several Apple products and want a collector’s view
Start with Fruitstand. Its Apple-family coverage and fields for color, condition, activation-lock status, warranty, and custom attributes map directly to the questions collectors ask about each item. Use Find My separately for the products that are currently active or likely to be misplaced.
Your Apple devices are part of a larger household inventory
Choose Sorven when receipts, insurance documents, locations, current value, and maintenance history are as important as model and serial number. Its categories and scanning features can keep Apple products in the same system as non-Apple assets.
You maintain a home lab or mixed technical equipment
Choose IT Storage when routers, switches, servers, printers, monitors, cables, and other infrastructure need to be tracked with the Macs and laptops. Its focus is operational hardware management rather than a display-style Apple collection.

Common mistakes and how to recover
Recording only active devices
Find My and account settings naturally emphasize products in use. Retired, boxed, broken, and sold items disappear from that view, so add them manually to the inventory and mark their lifecycle status.
Using model names without serial numbers
Several identical iPhones can share a model name, capacity, and color. Without a serial number, a warranty result or receipt may be attached to the wrong unit. Photograph the serial label when practical and check each entry for duplicates.
Leaving condition and ownership vague
A note such as “old Mac” cannot tell you whether a machine is available, damaged, loaned, or reserved for parts. Use fixed status values and add a short explanation only when needed.
Recommended Free Tools
Assuming sync is the same as backup
Synchronization can replicate a mistake or deletion. Test the app’s export or backup process, keep important receipts in a second secure location, and verify restoration on a spare device before you depend on the catalogue for insurance or estate records.
Failing to update lifecycle changes
When a device is repaired, sold, recycled, or transferred, change its status and add the date. For an item that leaves your ownership, retain only the information needed for your records and follow the app’s deletion controls for sensitive attachments.
A practical maintenance schedule
- At purchase: Create the record, photograph the serial label, attach the receipt, and record the purchase price and warranty terms.
- After setup: Add the final configuration, location, owner, and Find My status.
- After repair or upgrade: Update condition, components, battery or storage changes, and attach the service invoice.
- Once or twice a year: Search for missing serial numbers, stale locations, expired coverage, and records without receipts. Recheck high-value devices with Apple’s coverage service.
- Before sale, donation, or recycling: Confirm backup, sign out, remove Activation Lock, erase the device, and mark the record as transferred or disposed of.
For most Apple-only collections, Fruitstand provides the most direct catalogue structure. Sorven is the better all-purpose household register, IT Storage is the better technical inventory, and Hoardware is a narrower iPhone option whose current support should be verified. Keep Find My enabled for location and recovery, but maintain a separate inventory record for the ownership facts that Find My does not store.
