Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold is the closest documented alternative to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 for large-screen Android multitasking. Its 8-inch inner display, 6.4-inch cover display and named Split Screen controls make it the most direct substitute. Choose the HONOR Magic V6 if hardware durability, battery capacity, cameras and two-screen stylus support matter more and it is officially sold where you live. Choose the Motorola Razr Fold for rugged construction, endurance and a stylus that works on both screens, accepting simpler window controls. Samsung’s One UI remains the easiest software for running two apps side by side.

Quick verdict

Large-screen multitasking is not decided by the biggest diagonal measurement alone. The way a phone enters split screen, resizes windows, preserves app state between displays and adapts apps to a wide inner panel has more effect on daily work. Hands-on comparisons found Samsung’s software the most polished; Motorola was fast but less flexible, while HONOR provided plenty of physical space without the same workflow cohesion.

What a good Fold8 alternative must do

A book-style foldable replaces a tablet and phone only when its software makes the extra screen practical. Evaluate these six things rather than treating screen size as the whole story.

  • Fast split-screen entry: You should be able to place two apps side by side without navigating through several menus.
  • Useful resizing: A 50/50 split is not always right. Messaging may need a narrow column while a document, browser or spreadsheet gets the wider pane.
  • Floating windows: A calculator, notes panel or video call can sit above the main pair without destroying the underlying layout.
  • App continuity: Opening or closing the phone should preserve the task instead of restarting an app or losing its position.
  • Adaptation to the inner aspect ratio: An app can technically run on a large screen and still waste space with a phone-shaped layout.
  • Support and compatibility: A foldable’s usefulness depends on the apps you use, local sales channels, warranty coverage and repair access.

Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold: the closest direct substitute

Why it is the leading alternative

Google’s Pixel 10 Pro Fold is the clearest answer to “What should I buy instead of a Galaxy Z Fold 8?” when the priority is a book-style Android device with a large working area. Product information reported in 2026 lists an 8-inch inner display and a 6.4-inch outer display, both larger diagonals than Samsung’s documented 7.6-inch inner and 5.5-inch cover screens. Google also names Split Screen as a feature, giving buyers a clearly documented route to two-app use.

The additional diagonal can make a browser-and-notes or email-and-calendar pairing more comfortable, but it does not guarantee better two-column layouts. Check the apps you rely on: some may remain centered in a phone-like frame, show oversized controls or fail to remember their position after folding. The Pixel’s advantage is the combination of the largest documented inner screen in this comparison and an explicit split-screen workflow, not a claim that every app is better optimized.

Who should choose it

  • People who want the largest documented inner display among the directly compared options.
  • Users who prefer Google’s Android interface and a named Split Screen control rather than relying on third-party window behavior.
  • Buyers who can confirm official sales, local warranty service, app compatibility and the current price in their country.

Checks before ordering

Google’s regional availability and support terms can vary. Confirm that the exact Pixel 10 Pro Fold model is sold through an authorized channel in your country, that replacement and repair options exist, and that your carrier supports it. Test or research the behavior of your essential apps on the inner panel, especially banking, enterprise, streaming and remote-desktop software. Those checks matter more than the 0.4-inch difference between an 8-inch Pixel panel and Samsung’s 7.6-inch panel.

HONOR Magic V6: hardware-first multitasking

Strengths

Tom’s Guide’s 2026 hands-on comparison reports a 219 g Magic V6, 8.75 mm thickness when closed and 4 mm when open. It also reports IP68/IP69 dust and water resistance, a large battery with impressive stamina, and stylus support on both displays. Those details make the V6 attractive to people who carry a pen, work outdoors or place durability and endurance ahead of the most polished window management.

IP68 and IP69 are useful indicators of protection, but they are not a promise that a folded phone is indestructible. Water, dust, impact and hinge wear can still lead to damage, and warranty terms differ by market. Treat the rating as one part of a durability decision rather than permission to expose the phone deliberately to water or grit.

Multitasking compromises

The same hands-on comparison found floating windows and split-screen options capable, while app adaptation and overall workflow cohesion trailed Samsung. You can open several tasks, but the sequence for creating, resizing and returning to a layout may feel less predictable than on One UI. If your work consists of a fixed pair such as documents beside a browser, try that exact combination before buying.

Availability is decisive

A separate 2026 review says the Magic V6 is not sold in the United States. Availability is not necessarily identical in every country, so check the manufacturer’s local channel, network bands, service terms and warranty before comparing prices. Importing a phone can also complicate repairs, software variants and returns. For buyers in a supported market, the V6’s protection, battery and two-screen pen support can outweigh its less cohesive multitasking; for others, lack of official sales ends the decision.

Motorola Razr Fold: rugged endurance and two-screen pen input

Construction and protection

Tom’s Guide reports a 243 g Razr Fold with a titanium inner plate, stainless-steel hinge, Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3 and IP48/IP49 protection. It is the heaviest of the three foldables in that hands-on comparison, but its materials target users who value a robust chassis. Stylus support on both displays is useful for annotating a document on the inner screen or jotting a note on the cover screen without opening the phone.

Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold - Unlocked Smartphone with Gemini Moonstone 256GB | Android foldable phone, 8-inch Super Actua Flex display, 24+ hour battery, hands-free video, advanced Pixel Camera
  • Unfold extraordinary with Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold; with Pixel’s largest screen and Gemini, Google’s most advanced AI, it’s made for multitasking and entertainment[1]
  • Unlocked Android phone gives you the flexibility to change carriers and choose your own data plan[2]; it works with Google Fi, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and other major carriers
  • Get a head start on syncing your data before it even arrives: After you purchase your new Pixel, look for an email that explains how to transfer your photos, videos, passwords, and more in just a few quick steps[14]
  • The gearless, high-strength hinge makes it durable enough to handle about 10 years of folding[3]; plus, Pixel 10 Pro Fold is built with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and has an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance[4]
  • The brighter-than-ever 8-inch Super Actua Flex display is Pixel’s largest screen yet[12]; and you can use Split Screen to plan a trip, drag and drop images, and open multiple apps at once[5]

Where it falls behind for work

Split screen is available, yet the comparison describes narrower layouts and simpler window controls than Samsung’s. That can make a two-app arrangement feel cramped even when the physical display is large. Motorola was described as fast, but less flexible: switching between layouts, floating an app and adjusting pane widths may require more manual intervention.

Why endurance buyers may prefer it

The same comparison calls Motorola the endurance leader among the three tested devices. That is a hands-on observation, not a universal laboratory ranking. Battery life changes with brightness, cellular signal, refresh behavior, gaming and the amount of inner-screen use. Choose the Razr Fold when its construction, pen support and observed stamina fit your routine, not because one comparison can predict every owner’s result.

Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold: a premium comparison point, not the default pick

Digital Camera World lists a US launch/list price of $1,899 for the Pixel 11 Pro Fold and says its limited multitasking does not fully exploit the large folding display. That makes it a useful premium reference, but not the automatic recommendation for a buyer specifically seeking a Fold8-style productivity replacement.

The same review reports that the HONOR Magic V6 offers better battery life, cameras, gaming performance and IP69 protection for less money, while Samsung’s larger Fold8 Ultra has better multitasking, cameras, battery and processor. These are that review’s comparative judgments, not controlled results for every market or configuration. Treat the Pixel 11 Pro Fold as a phone to investigate if its camera or Google software priorities outweigh its documented multitasking limitations.

How the Galaxy Z Fold8 sets the baseline

Samsung’s official 2026 product page lists a 5.5-inch cover display, 7.6-inch inner display, 201 g weight, 4.5 mm open thickness, 4,800 mAh battery, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, 50 MP wide camera and storage up to 1 TB. Samsung describes the inner panel as a “Large main screen perfect for side-by-side productivity” and gives the unfolded phone a 4:3 aspect ratio designed for long-form viewing.

Those specifications explain why alternatives must be judged on more than diagonal size. The 4:3 inner ratio is close to a small tablet’s working shape, and Samsung’s One UI has become the reference for entering split screen, resizing panes and returning to a familiar pair of apps. An alternative can be lighter, more durable or larger while still requiring more effort for the same two-app routine.

Multitasking software: the practical differences

Split-screen entry and resizing

Pixel 10 Pro Fold is the only alternative in the supplied comparisons with a specifically named Google Split Screen feature. HONOR offers split-screen and floating-window options, while Motorola supports split screen with simpler controls. Samsung remains the benchmark because the controls and app behavior are more cohesive in hands-on use.

Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold - Unlocked Smartphone with Gemini - Jade - 512 GB | Android foldable phone, 8-inch Super Actua Flex display, 24+ hour battery, hands-free video, advanced Pixel Camera

When testing any model, open your two most-used apps, create a 50/50 split, drag the divider toward each side, rotate the phone and close then reopen it. A good result keeps both apps usable and restores the layout. A poor result forces you to rebuild the pair, clips important controls or leaves one app in a narrow phone-sized column.

Floating windows and continuity

Floating windows are particularly valuable on a foldable because they let a temporary task sit above a stable workspace. HONOR’s implementation is capable according to the comparison, but its overall workflow cohesion trails Samsung. Motorola’s controls are simpler, so people who frequently move a calculator, chat or video call over two underlying apps may notice the difference sooner.

Also check continuity: begin reading or editing on the cover display, open the phone and see whether the app expands naturally. Then reverse the action. This matters for navigation, documents and long-form reading, where losing position can erase the practical benefit of a foldable.

App adaptation

Display size does not force developers to provide a tablet layout. An app may letterbox itself, leave unused space or show a phone interface on half of the unfolded screen. HONOR’s hands-on comparison specifically notes weaker app adaptation than Samsung. Pixel 10 Pro Fold’s larger panel is therefore an opportunity rather than a guarantee; verify the apps that matter to you.

Usable workspace: why aspect ratio beats diagonal size

Samsung’s 7.6-inch inner display uses a 4:3 unfolded aspect ratio. Google’s documented Pixel 10 Pro Fold inner display is 8 inches, but the comparison does not establish its unfolded aspect ratio. A larger diagonal can provide more area for two apps, yet an unusually tall or narrow shape may leave each pane too thin for comfortable typing or reading.

For a realistic comparison, measure the tasks rather than the screen. Put a document beside a browser, a video call beside notes, and a spreadsheet beside email. Look for readable text, full-width controls and enough keyboard room. The model that keeps both apps functional at your preferred split is the better workspace, even if its diagonal is smaller.

Durability, hinge design and service

Protection ratings describe different test conditions and should not be treated as interchangeable. HONOR’s reported IP68/IP69 rating emphasizes dust and water resistance. Motorola’s reported IP48/IP49 rating is paired with a titanium inner plate, stainless-steel hinge and Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3. Samsung’s cited product information in this comparison supplies dimensions and core hardware but does not provide a directly comparable protection figure here.

Hinge construction and service access matter as much as the rating. Before purchase, identify the authorized repair network, warranty exclusions for liquid or impact damage, screen replacement process and expected turnaround. A rugged specification is less useful if you must ship an imported phone overseas for service.

Battery and charging: avoid universal rankings

The available comparisons do not provide a complete independent laboratory dataset for every current model. Tom’s Guide calls Motorola the endurance leader among its three tested devices and describes HONOR’s battery stamina as impressive, but those are hands-on observations under particular conditions. They should not be converted into a universal battery ranking.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Samsung’s official page lists a 4,800 mAh battery for the Galaxy Z Fold8. Battery capacity alone does not predict inner-screen runtime: processor behavior, modem signal, brightness, refresh rate, thermal limits and app mix all matter. If you spend hours on the unfolded display, prioritize measured results for your region and usage pattern, then check charging speed and charger availability separately.

Cameras and stylus support

Camera priorities

Samsung’s documented Fold8 hardware includes a 50 MP wide camera. The comparison material does not provide a complete, controlled camera table for every alternative, so claims about a universal camera winner would overreach the evidence. Digital Camera World’s Pixel 11 Pro Fold review says the HONOR Magic V6 has better cameras than that Pixel model, while also judging Samsung’s larger Fold8 Ultra superior in cameras. Those conclusions belong to that review’s specific comparison.

Pen input

HONOR Magic V6 and Motorola Razr Fold are both reported to support a stylus on the inner and outer displays. That two-screen behavior is a meaningful advantage for quick cover-screen notes and full-screen annotation. Confirm whether a pen is included, sold separately or limited by regional model before ordering. Pixel 10 Pro Fold’s stylus capability is not established in the cited material, so do not assume it matches the two-screen support described for HONOR and Motorola.

Price, regional sales and warranty checks

Only one explicit price is supplied: Digital Camera World lists the Pixel 11 Pro Fold at a US launch/list price of $1,899. Street prices, storage tiers, taxes and promotions can change, so do not use that figure as a current worldwide price. The cited material does not establish current prices for Pixel 10 Pro Fold, HONOR Magic V6, Motorola Razr Fold or Galaxy Z Fold8.

Use this verification sequence before paying:

  1. Open the manufacturer’s site for your country and confirm the exact model is sold there.
  2. Check carrier bands, eSIM or SIM configuration and 5G support for your network.
  3. Read the local warranty, accidental-damage and liquid-damage terms.
  4. Locate an authorized repair center and ask how inner-screen and hinge repairs are handled.
  5. Confirm the software language, banking-app compatibility and update policy for the regional model.
  6. Compare the complete cost, including an appropriate case, screen protection, charger and any stylus required for your workflow.

Which alternative should you buy?

Choose Pixel 10 Pro Fold when

  • You want the largest documented inner display in this comparison.
  • Google’s Split Screen controls appeal to you.
  • You can confirm official local availability, warranty and app behavior.

Choose HONOR Magic V6 when

  • IP68/IP69 protection, a 219 g body, battery stamina and cameras outrank software polish.
  • You need stylus input on both displays.
  • The phone is officially sold and supported in your country.

Choose Motorola Razr Fold when

  • Rugged materials, a 243 g chassis and observed endurance are your priorities.
  • You want two-screen stylus support.
  • You can accept narrower split-screen layouts and simpler window controls.

Stay with Galaxy Z Fold8 when

  • Your work depends on the smoothest two-app workflows and reliable app continuity.
  • You value Samsung’s 4:3 inner workspace, up to 1 TB storage and established Fold software behavior.
  • Local Samsung service and accessories are easier to obtain than alternatives.

A practical buying and setup test

Before committing, reproduce a normal work session rather than opening a few apps at random.

  1. Start on the cover screen: open your communication app, then continue the same task after unfolding.
  2. Create your main pair: place a browser beside notes or a document beside email, then adjust the divider until both are usable.
  3. Add a temporary tool: open a calculator, chat or video call as a floating window and dismiss it without losing the pair.
  4. Rotate and refold: check whether orientation changes or closing the phone destroys the layout.
  5. Use the pen if relevant: write on both displays, test palm rejection and verify whether the pen is included.
  6. Check heat and battery behavior: spend an extended session on the inner display with your actual brightness and cellular connection.
  7. Confirm service: save the local warranty and repair contact details before the return period expires.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Buying on diagonal alone: an 8-inch panel can still provide a poor two-column layout if apps are not adapted.
  • Assuming ratings are equivalent: IP68/IP69 and IP48/IP49 describe different protection claims; neither eliminates hinge and screen risk.
  • Importing without a service plan: unsupported regions can complicate warranty, software and replacement parts.
  • Turning hands-on impressions into laboratory facts: Motorola’s endurance lead and HONOR’s impressive stamina are observations from a particular comparison.
  • Assuming every model includes a pen: verify regional packaging and accessory pricing, even when stylus support is advertised.
  • Ignoring app continuity: a phone that makes you rebuild your workspace after every fold may be less productive than a smaller but better-integrated device.
