Best overall alternative: Razer Orochi V2. It is the closest wireless substitute for the ASUS TUF Gaming M4 Wireless when compact dimensions, low weight and flexible connectivity matter. Razer rates it below 60 g before the battery, with Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz HyperSpeed, six programmable buttons and up to 1,100 hours of Bluetooth use or 445 hours of HyperSpeed use with an AA lithium battery.
The mouse often described in searches as the “ASUS TUF Gaming Mini Wireless Mouse” is the ASUS TUF Gaming M4 Wireless. ASUS lists it at 126 x 63.5 x 39.6 mm. Its advertised 62 g is the mouse without a battery or dongle; it becomes 77 g with the AAA converter holder or 86 g with an AA battery. That distinction matters when comparing it with lighter alternatives.

What the ASUS TUF Gaming M4 Wireless baseline actually is
Small-hand comparisons are easier when the reference mouse is defined precisely. ASUS calls the product the TUF Gaming M4 Wireless, not “Mini Wireless.” It is a six-button mouse with a 12,000 DPI sensor, Bluetooth 5.1 and 2.4 GHz radio connectivity. The shell accepts either an AA or AAA battery, so the carry weight changes according to the configuration.
| Specification | ASUS TUF Gaming M4 Wireless |
|---|---|
| Published dimensions | 126 x 63.5 x 39.6 mm |
| Mouse and dongle, without battery | 62 g |
| With AAA converter holder | 77 g |
| With AA battery | 86 g |
| Wireless modes | Bluetooth 5.1 and 2.4 GHz RF |
| Sensor resolution | 12,000 DPI |
| Buttons | Six |
| Power | Replaceable AA or AAA battery |
Compared with the 62 g battery-free figure, an AAA setup adds 15 g and an AA setup adds 24 g. Those are not trivial differences for a small-hand player who makes frequent low-sensitivity swipes or lifts the mouse to reposition it. Use the configuration you actually carry when judging the M4 Wireless against another mouse.

How to judge “small hands” without a misleading cutoff
There is no manufacturer-published hand-length threshold that makes a mouse officially suitable for small hands. Comfort depends on more than palm length: the shell’s maximum width, where its widest point sits, the height and location of the hump, button reach, and your grip all change the effective fit.
Measure the dimensions that affect reach
- Length: A shorter shell can keep the front buttons within reach without forcing the wrist forward.
- Width: Width can matter as much as length. A mouse that is only slightly longer than the M4 Wireless but several millimetres wider may feel harder to control.
- Height and hump position: A tall rear hump can fill the palm quickly, while a lower or more rearward hump may leave room for fingertip movement.
- Button placement: Side-button position determines whether your thumb can reach both buttons without changing grip.
- Grip style: Claw and fingertip grips usually tolerate less palm contact than a full palm grip, but that is a fit consideration rather than a guarantee.
Measure your hand from the wrist crease to the tip of the middle finger, then compare that measurement with the mouse’s length and width. Treat the result as a starting point. No dimension table can predict pressure points, ring-finger clearance or whether the scroll wheel feels too far away.
Best alternatives at a glance
| Mouse | Best fit | Published specifications | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Razer Orochi V2 | Closest compact wireless replacement | Below 60 g excluding battery; Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz HyperSpeed; up to 1,100 hours Bluetooth or 445 hours HyperSpeed with an AA lithium battery; six programmable buttons | Battery weight still changes the feel. The compact shell may suit claw or fingertip users better than a large-hand palm grip, but fit is personal. |
| Logitech G305 LIGHTSPEED | Value and long battery life | 250-hour battery claim; HERO sensor; 200–12,000 DPI; 1 ms LIGHTSPEED wireless | The cited Logitech specification does not classify it for small hands, so choose it by shape and grip preference rather than assuming a small fit. |
| SteelSeries Aerox 3 Wireless (2022) | Low weight with two wireless modes | 68 g; 200-hour battery claim; 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth 5.0; 120.55 x 67.03 x 37.98 mm | Its 67.03 mm maximum width is broader than the M4 Wireless’s listed 63.5 mm, which can matter to very narrow hands. |
| Razer Cobra | Compact wired setup | 58 g; right-handed symmetrical compact form; 8,500 DPI sensor | It needs a cable and has no wireless mode. |
1. Razer Orochi V2: the closest wireless replacement
The Orochi V2 is the strongest first choice when the goal is a genuinely compact wireless gaming mouse rather than simply a different model with wireless connectivity. Razer describes it as a compact, ultra-lightweight design and publishes a weight below 60 g before battery weight. That puts the shell itself below the M4 Wireless’s 62 g battery-free figure.
Why it suits the replacement brief
- It provides both Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz HyperSpeed, so you can use a low-power connection for a laptop and the dongle for gaming.
- Its six programmable buttons match the M4 Wireless’s button count.
- Razer quotes up to 1,100 hours in Bluetooth mode or 445 hours in HyperSpeed mode with an AA lithium battery. These are mode-specific manufacturer claims, not a single expected runtime for every battery or usage pattern.
- The sub-60 g mouse-only design reduces the starting weight before the battery is installed.
Who should be cautious
The published “under 60 g” figure excludes battery weight, just as the M4 Wireless’s 62 g figure excludes its battery. Compare complete operating configurations, not shell-only numbers. The Orochi V2’s compact format is a plausible match for claw and fingertip grips, while a user with a large hand who wants full palm support may prefer a longer, fuller shell. That is an ergonomic inference from the compact form, not a universal rule.
2. Logitech G305 LIGHTSPEED: the battery-life and value choice
The G305 LIGHTSPEED is attractive when you want a simple 2.4 GHz wireless mouse and long intervals between battery changes. Logitech publishes a 250-hour battery claim, a HERO sensor, a 200–12,000 DPI range and a stated 1 ms LIGHTSPEED wireless connection.

- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
What it does well
- Long claimed runtime: The 250-hour figure is the manufacturer’s published battery-life claim, useful for estimating maintenance but not a guarantee under every sensitivity, polling or power-saving setting.
- Broad sensitivity range: The 200–12,000 DPI range covers low-sensitivity desktop play and high-DPI setups without requiring a separate sensor profile.
- Focused wireless design: LIGHTSPEED is a 2.4 GHz gaming connection rather than a dual-mode Bluetooth/2.4 GHz design.
Why it is not an automatic small-hand recommendation
The cited Logitech material does not establish a small-hand classification for the G305. Do not infer suitability solely from its popularity or battery life. Check the shell length, width, hump and side-button reach against your grip. If you need Bluetooth for a tablet or laptop, this is also less flexible than the Orochi V2 or Aerox 3 Wireless because the cited specification identifies LIGHTSPEED wireless rather than a second Bluetooth mode.
3. SteelSeries Aerox 3 Wireless (2022): light and dual-wireless
The Aerox 3 Wireless (2022) combines a published 68 g weight with 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth 5.0. SteelSeries claims up to 200 hours of battery life and describes its super-light design as helping quicker movements and larger swipes.

- Two wireless modes: Use 2.4 GHz for gaming and Bluetooth when conserving power or connecting to a device without the receiver.
- Low listed weight: At 68 g, it is heavier than the Orochi V2’s shell-only figure but lighter than an M4 Wireless carrying an AA battery at 86 g.
- Published dimensions: 120.55 x 67.03 x 37.98 mm. It is shorter and slightly lower than the M4 Wireless on the listed figures.
The width issue for narrow hands
The Aerox 3 Wireless reaches 67.03 mm at its widest point, compared with 63.5 mm for the M4 Wireless. That 3.53 mm difference can be more noticeable than the shorter overall length if your thumb and ring finger already feel stretched on the ASUS shell. For medium-width hands, the extra width may be comfortable; for very narrow hands, it is a reason to choose the Orochi V2 or test the Aerox before committing.
4. Razer Cobra: the compact wired alternative
If wireless is optional, the Razer Cobra is the lightest fully specified choice in this shortlist at 58 g. Razer calls it a small, compact mouse with a right-handed symmetrical form factor and an 8,500 DPI sensor.
Why a cable can be the right trade
- No AA or AAA battery changes, charging schedule or battery-induced weight shift.
- The 58 g published weight is the mouse’s operating weight rather than a shell figure that needs a battery added.
- A wired connection avoids Bluetooth pairing decisions and wireless receiver placement.
What you give up
The Cobra requires a cable, so desk drag and cable routing become part of the setup. It is not a substitute for the M4 Wireless if you specifically need wireless use across a laptop, console or multiple devices. Its right-handed symmetrical shape also describes the form, not a guarantee that every hand or grip will find the side buttons comfortable.

Wireless choices: Bluetooth versus 2.4 GHz
For gaming, 2.4 GHz wireless is generally the mode to prioritize because the included receiver is designed for a direct low-latency connection. Bluetooth is useful when portability, battery conservation or compatibility with a device that lacks a spare USB port matters more.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Choose 2.4 GHz when
- You are playing competitive or timing-sensitive games.
- Your desktop has a convenient USB port for the receiver.
- You want the mouse profile intended for gaming rather than general mobile use.
Choose Bluetooth when
- You are connecting to a laptop, tablet or other device where a USB receiver is inconvenient.
- You want to reduce the number of receivers in a travel bag.
- You accept the mode-specific battery-life and responsiveness trade-offs published by the manufacturer.
The Orochi V2 and Aerox 3 Wireless provide both modes. The M4 Wireless also supports Bluetooth 5.1 and 2.4 GHz RF. The G305 specification cited here is centered on 2.4 GHz LIGHTSPEED, while the Cobra is wired.
Weight: compare the mouse you will actually lift
Manufacturers do not always weigh products under the same conditions. The M4 Wireless is listed at 62 g without battery and dongle, 77 g with the AAA converter holder, or 86 g with an AA battery. The Orochi V2 is listed below 60 g excluding battery. Aerox 3 Wireless is listed at 68 g, and Cobra at 58 g.
| Configuration | Published weight | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| ASUS M4 Wireless, no battery or dongle | 62 g | Baseline shell weight; not the normal AA operating setup. |
| ASUS M4 Wireless, AAA converter holder | 77 g | 15 g above the battery-free figure. |
| ASUS M4 Wireless, AA battery | 86 g | 24 g above the battery-free figure. |
| Razer Orochi V2 | Below 60 g excluding battery | Add the installed battery before comparing movement effort. |
| SteelSeries Aerox 3 Wireless (2022) | 68 g | Published product weight; battery-life claim is separate. |
| Razer Cobra | 58 g | Wired mouse; no battery weight to add. |
A lighter mouse is not automatically more comfortable. Very low weight can make a high-sensitivity grip feel twitchy, while a heavier mouse can feel steadier for some users. Use weight as one decision axis alongside width and button reach.
Pick by grip and priority
For claw grip
Start with the Orochi V2 because its compact positioning and low shell weight align with a grip that keeps the palm partially lifted. Compare the side-button reach and hump location in person if possible. The Cobra is the wired fallback when you want similar compact intent without battery management.

For fingertip grip
The Orochi V2 is again the most direct wireless candidate, while the Cobra gives you the lowest listed wired weight in this group. Keep the mouse width under scrutiny: a broad shell can force the thumb and little finger outward even when its length looks acceptable.
For palm grip
Do not assume that a mouse marketed as compact will provide enough rear support. The M4 Wireless itself is 126 mm long, and the Aerox 3 Wireless is 120.55 mm, but published length alone does not reveal hump shape. If your palm rests fully on the shell, prioritize the model whose back contour supports your hand without pushing your fingers over the main buttons.
For mixed office and gaming use
Choose the Orochi V2 or Aerox 3 Wireless if Bluetooth is important. Choose the G305 if long claimed battery life and a straightforward 2.4 GHz setup matter more than dual-mode flexibility. Choose the Cobra if you are comfortable routing a cable and want to eliminate battery decisions.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to test fit before keeping a mouse
- Record your current pain point. Note whether the M4 Wireless feels too long, too wide, too heavy with an AA battery, or difficult to reach at the side buttons.
- Use the complete operating weight. Install the battery in a wireless mouse or connect the cable for a wired model. Do not compare the M4’s 62 g shell figure with a fully configured competitor.
- Test your normal grip for at least several sessions. Check whether your wrist stays neutral, whether your ring finger rubs the side and whether you lift the mouse without squeezing it.
- Check both wireless modes if available. Pair Bluetooth for ordinary work, then use the 2.4 GHz receiver for games. Confirm that switching modes does not change the button layout you rely on.
- Measure reach, not just comfort at rest. Press both side buttons, click the wheel and perform repeated low-sensitivity swipes. A shell can feel comfortable while idle but force awkward finger extension during play.
- Inspect your desk space. A lighter mouse helps only if your pad is large enough for the movements your sensitivity requires. A cable can be unobtrusive with a bungee or irritating when it catches on the desk edge.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Comparing advertised weights as if they use one standard
They do not. The M4 Wireless figures explicitly change with battery configuration, and the Orochi V2 figure excludes battery weight. Record the exact configuration beside every number.
Choosing by length alone
The Aerox 3 Wireless is shorter than the M4 Wireless on the listed dimensions but wider at its maximum point. Width, hump position and finger clearance can outweigh a few millimetres of length.

Assuming “compact” means universally comfortable
Compact is a product description, not a hand-size guarantee. A small shell can be excellent for claw or fingertip use and still feel cramped to a large-hand palm user.
Ignoring connectivity requirements
A Bluetooth-capable mouse is useful for travel and devices without a receiver port, but a receiver-based 2.4 GHz link may be preferable for gaming. The G305’s cited specification emphasizes LIGHTSPEED, whereas the Orochi V2, Aerox 3 Wireless and M4 Wireless list both Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz options.
Buying replacement feet without checking the exact model
PTFE replacement feet are available as an accessory category, and ASUS, Razer and Cobra product information references PTFE feet. Compatibility is model-specific, so verify the exact mouse revision before ordering; do not assume feet made for one shell fit another.

Buy the Razer Orochi V2 if you want the most direct wireless alternative to the ASUS TUF Gaming M4 Wireless for a compact setup. Its manufacturer-described compact form, sub-60 g shell-only weight, six programmable buttons and dual wireless modes address the main reasons a small-hand user might look beyond the ASUS.
Choose the Logitech G305 LIGHTSPEED when long claimed battery life and a 2.4 GHz value-focused setup matter more than Bluetooth or a published small-hand designation. Choose the SteelSeries Aerox 3 Wireless (2022) when you want a 68 g dual-wireless mouse and can accommodate its 67.03 mm maximum width. Choose the Razer Cobra when 58 g, compact construction and no battery management are worth accepting a cable.
Keep the ASUS M4 Wireless in contention if its 126 x 63.5 x 39.6 mm shell already feels comfortable and you value AA/AAA flexibility. Just compare it at the battery configuration you actually use: 77 g with the AAA converter holder or 86 g with an AA battery, not only the 62 g battery-free listing.
