If you want desktop speakers beyond Logitech, start with the layout and connections that fit your desk: Creative Pebble X Plus is a compact 2.1 system with a subwoofer, Edifier MR3 is a powered 2.0 pair for nearfield listening, Edifier R1280DBs adds bookshelf-style cabinets and broad inputs, and Audioengine A2+ Next Gen is a premium compact stereo pair. These are options to match to your needs, not a single ranked winner; the comparisons cited here are buying guides, not controlled listening tests.
How to choose an alternative to Logitech speakers
“Alternative” can mean a replacement for one Logitech model or a speaker from a different brand. Logitech Z407 appears in current comparison coverage, but it is still a Logitech product; it is useful as a same-brand reference, not as a non-Logitech alternative. The options below are from Creative, Edifier, and Audioengine.

Choose by desk space, bass preference, inputs, listening use, and local budget. A 2.1 system has a separate subwoofer, a practical direction for stronger movie and game bass, but that extra cabinet takes space. A 2.0 pair typically occupies less room and can work well for nearfield listening. Neither layout is automatically better for every desk or listener.

The price observations above are from U.S. buying-guide coverage in August 2026, not durable prices or guarantees of current stock. Check the exact model generation, your region’s price and availability, included power supply and cables, and the ports on your computer before buying. Edifier’s official U.S. catalog lists dedicated computer speakers, including 2.0 and 2.1 products: Edifier computer speakers. What to check before you buy
Desk footprint and placement
Allow room for both speakers and, for a 2.1 system, the subwoofer. The R1280DBs’ larger bookshelf-style cabinets can overwhelm a narrow desktop. A compact pair still needs suitable placement; small satellites are not the only speakers that can fit near a monitor.
Computer and device connections
Match the speaker inputs to the devices you actually use. USB-C, analog, optical, coaxial, and Bluetooth appear across these options, but not every model offers every connection. Bluetooth is useful for wireless playback from compatible devices; it does not replace checking how you will connect your desktop computer. Confirm whether required cables and power supplies are included.

- Convenient Control Pod
- 25 Watts (RMS) Output
- Compact Subwoofer
Bass versus a second cabinet
A separate subwoofer is a sensible choice if stronger low-end impact for games or movies matters more than keeping the floor or desk area clear. If you prefer a simpler nearfield setup, a 2.0 pair avoids an included subwoofer. Audioengine A2+ Next Gen offers a subwoofer output for a later addition, while the Edifier MR3 has no included subwoofer.
Price and evidence
Use the reported prices as comparison points, not promises about what a retailer charges today. They are U.S. observations from 2026 buying guides, and prices, stock, and model generations can change. Wattage claims alone do not establish sound quality, and the cited guides do not provide controlled comparative testing. For current product catalogs, see Edifier’s U.S. computer-speaker listings.

- Pick Edifier R1280DBs if you have room for larger speakers and value its listed optical, coaxial, RCA, and Bluetooth inputs.
- Pick Audioengine A2+ Next Gen if compact premium stereo and USB-C or aptX-HD Bluetooth matter more than deep bass or a lower reported price.
