Short answer: DroneShield is the closest cited substitute for a layered, RF-led counter-UAS capability. Raytheon’s Coyote effector paired with the Ku-band Radio Frequency Sensor (KuRFS) is the strongest documented radar-plus-interceptor route, with integration in the U.S. Army’s Low, Slow, Small Integrated Defeat System (LIDS). Shield AI is the better fit when autonomous EO/IR detection, tracking and ISR matter more than a complete kinetic defeat chain. AeroVironment is an adjacent option for loitering munitions and tactical autonomous aircraft, not a like-for-like replacement for Anduril’s software-centered stack.
Anduril is difficult to replace with one product because its proposition combines Lattice command software, sensors, autonomous vehicles and effectors. Select an alternative by the layer you need to replace—detection, defeat, command and control, autonomy, deployment or procurement maturity—rather than by company name alone.

What Anduril provides that an alternative must replace
Anduril’s counter-drone offering is an integrated architecture rather than a single missile or sensor. Lattice is the software layer Anduril describes as providing scalable awareness and defense against aerial threats. It is intended to combine data from multiple sensors, maintain a common operating picture and pass tracks to effectors or autonomous vehicles.
At the effect level, Anduril describes Anvil as an autonomous, high-speed kinetic interceptor for Group 1 and Group 2 drone threats. Those groups generally cover small systems below the larger tactical-aircraft category, but the exact engagement envelope depends on configuration and rules of engagement. Anduril also describes Roadrunner as a modular autonomous air vehicle. Roadrunner-M can be controlled by Lattice or connected to existing radars, sensors and air-defense architectures, which matters if a buyer is not replacing its entire command system.

Anduril announced a $200 million U.S. Marine Corps MADIS counter-UAS contract on November 19, 2024. Its counter-electronic system (CES) materials identify Anvil for Group 1 and Group 2 threats. A contract announcement demonstrates program selection, not universal availability, identical performance in every theater or guaranteed delivery for a new customer.
The practical implication is that an alternative should be evaluated against six separate questions:
- How does it detect a drone: radio-frequency (RF) sensing, radar, electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR), or sensor fusion?
- How does it defeat the target: electronic warfare, a kinetic interceptor, a non-kinetic payload, directed energy or a loitering munition?
- What command-and-control software turns detections into decisions and engagements?
- Which actions are autonomous, and where must an operator approve search, track or fire?
- Can it operate at a fixed site, on a vehicle, dismounted, at sea or from an aircraft?
- What evidence exists for fielding, integration, production capacity and exportability?

DroneShield: the closest layered counter-UAS substitute
What the portfolio covers
DroneShield’s portfolio spans RF detection, artificial intelligence, sensor fusion and electronic warfare. DroneSentry-X Mk2 is positioned for fixed or mobile deployments, while DroneSentry-C2 provides command software for coordinating sensors and effectors. RfPatrol Mk2 is intended for dismounted users, and DroneGun Mk4 provides a handheld disruption option.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →This combination maps most directly to a buyer that wants to detect a controller or drone link, classify the signal and apply an electronic defeat without immediately firing a missile. AI and sensor-fusion functions can help distinguish drone activity from background emitters, but the quality of a track still depends on local spectrum conditions, antenna placement, terrain and the target’s emissions.
Where DroneShield fits best
- Critical sites: Fixed sensors and a central command application can establish a perimeter around an installation, airport or other protected location.
- Vehicles and temporary positions: Mobile configurations can move with a convoy or be set up for an event, provided power, networking and antenna placement are engineered for the site.
- Dismounted teams: RfPatrol Mk2 and DroneGun Mk4 address users who need to detect or disrupt a nearby drone without a vehicle-mounted system.
- Layered electronic warfare: RF detection can cue disruption while preserving a kinetic interceptor for targets that cannot be jammed or that continue toward a protected asset.
Evidence and limitations
DroneShield states that it has delivered 4,500 devices and served more than 34 government agencies. Those numbers are company-reported and do not, by themselves, establish identical performance across every customer, country or threat set.

Disruption-capable products also have jurisdictional limits. DroneShield states that U.S. sales and use restrictions apply except through authorized government channels. A private operator, overseas buyer or commercial security company must verify whether it can legally acquire, possess and transmit the relevant RF power in its location. Spectrum licensing, aviation rules and rules of engagement can be as important as the hardware.
DroneShield is therefore the strongest direct alternative when the requirement is an RF-first, reusable electronic-warfare layer. It is not shown in the cited material as reproducing Lattice’s full multi-domain software ecosystem or as supplying a high-speed kinetic interceptor equivalent to Anvil.

Raytheon and RTX: radar plus kinetic and non-kinetic effectors
Coyote variants
Raytheon’s Coyote family is built around a rail-launched effector for counter-unmanned-aircraft missions. RTX describes the combat-proven Coyote as a low-cost missile variant with a boost rocket motor and turbine engine. Block 2 is the kinetic variant. Block 3NK is a non-kinetic configuration intended to loiter, defeat swarms and be recalled for additional engagements.
The distinction changes the logistics model. A kinetic interceptor is expended when it destroys a target, so magazine depth and reload time become central planning variables. A recoverable or reusable non-kinetic effect can reduce reload demand in some scenarios, but its effectiveness depends on the payload, target behavior and authorization to employ it.
KuRFS detection and LIDS integration
The Ku-band Radio Frequency Sensor, or KuRFS, is described as a 360-degree radar that provides persistent detection, identification and tracking. RTX says KuRFS can be paired with Coyote to detect and defeat anything from a single drone to a swarm. The sensor and effector are integrated in the U.S. Army’s LIDS counter-UAS solution.

- [Easy Disassemble] Making incidental repairs quick and easy! Very nice, flexible cable
- [Dont Hesite to Order] 24 hours customer services and professional technology team are standing by
That integration evidence is significant for a military buyer because it indicates work on interfaces, fire-control sequencing and operational doctrine beyond a laboratory demonstration. It does not mean every customer receives the same configuration. LIDS components, identification rules, communications networks and engagement authority are program-specific.
When Raytheon is the better Anduril alternative
- Radar is mandatory: KuRFS supplies an active 360-degree search and track function where RF-only detection is insufficient or the target is radio silent.
- Hard kill is required: Coyote Block 2 provides a dedicated kinetic option for drones that cannot be reliably jammed.
- Swarm defense is a design driver: The Coyote family and KuRFS are explicitly described for single drones through swarms, with Block 3NK adding a non-kinetic, loitering option.
- Existing air-defense integration matters: LIDS experience may reduce the risk of connecting the sensor and effector to a broader Army-style architecture, subject to customer interfaces.
Raytheon is not automatically a full software replacement for Lattice. The cited information establishes a mature radar-and-effector path, not an identical autonomous operating system or the same family of air vehicles.
Shield AI: autonomous EO/IR sensing and ISR
Tracker C-UAS
Shield AI’s Tracker C-UAS uses proprietary AI and computer vision to detect, discriminate and track small drones in EO/IR video. It is designed to provide early warning without radar or RF emissions. That passive approach can be valuable when an operator needs to limit electromagnetic signatures, avoid advertising the defended position or work in an environment where radar operation is constrained.
EO/IR tracking has a different dependency profile from RF sensing and radar. Weather, haze, darkness, clutter, line of sight and the target’s aspect can affect image quality. AI can reduce operator workload by maintaining a track, but identification and engagement policies still need human oversight and testing against the customer’s actual drone set.
V-BAT ViDAR
V-BAT ViDAR combines the V-BAT aircraft with ViDAR software and an EO sensor suite for wide-area search and long-endurance intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance. This makes it relevant to a force that needs to find and follow activity over a large area, patrol from an airborne platform or add autonomous ISR to a counter-UAS network.

What Shield AI does not establish here
The cited product information does not establish a complete kinetic-interceptor portfolio equivalent to Anvil, nor does it show a full sensor-to-effector architecture equivalent to Lattice. Shield AI is consequently strongest as an autonomy and sensing alternative. A buyer seeking physical defeat must specify which separate effector, radar or electronic-warfare system will receive Tracker’s tracks and how that handoff will be authorized.
AeroVironment: adjacent autonomous effects through Switchblade
AeroVironment’s Switchblade family provides loitering munitions and tactical autonomous aircraft. These systems can give a unit an organic precision effect: launch, search or loiter, identify a target under the applicable rules and deliver a payload. They are relevant when the mission is expeditionary and the operator needs an effect close to the tactical edge rather than a permanently installed counter-UAS site.
Switchblade should be compared with Anduril on a different axis from a fixed counter-drone suite. Examine payload, endurance, launch concept, navigation, autonomy, communications resilience, operator control and the time required to retask or abort. A loitering munition may defeat a drone launch team or ground vehicle, but that is not the same as continuously detecting and stopping every small aircraft approaching a protected facility.
The cited material does not establish AeroVironment as a replacement for Lattice’s command layer, Anvil’s interceptor role or a radar-and-electronic-warfare stack. It is best treated as an adjacent option for autonomous tactical aircraft and expendable effects that can complement, rather than replace, a counter-UAS network.

How to evaluate a counter-drone replacement
- Define the threat set. Record drone size, speed, altitude, control links, autonomy, thermal and radar signatures, likely numbers in an attack and whether the operator can be located. “Counter-drone” is not one requirement; a small quadcopter, a radio-silent autonomous aircraft and a coordinated swarm stress different layers.
- Separate detection from defeat. Require vendors to state which sensor produces the initial alert, which sensor confirms the track and which component applies the effect. A system that detects RF activity may not see a silent target; an EO/IR tracker may lose a target in weather; radar may detect but not identify intent.
- Specify the effect hierarchy. Decide whether electronic disruption is acceptable, whether a kinetic interceptor is required, whether a non-kinetic payload is preferred and what happens when the first effect fails. Include deconfliction with friendly communications and aviation systems.
- Set autonomy boundaries. Document whether software may search, classify, maintain a track, recommend an engagement or execute it. State where a human must approve, what happens if the link to the operator is lost and how an engagement is logged for review.
- Map the command-and-control interface. Ask for supported data formats, time synchronization, track-quality fields, identity management, cyber-hardening, network failover and the ability to connect existing radars and effectors. Proprietary C2 can speed initial deployment but increase long-term dependence; open interfaces can ease integration but shift engineering work to the buyer.
- Test the deployment concept. A fixed site needs power, cooling, masts, networking and physical security. A vehicle needs shock, vibration, weight and power margins. Dismounted users need battery endurance, weather protection and a safe way to carry or employ effectors. Maritime and airborne installations add corrosion, deck motion, launch and recovery constraints.
- Demand representative trials. Test day and night, rain or haze where relevant, cluttered urban backgrounds, multiple simultaneous tracks, lost links, spoofing attempts and targets that change tactics. Ask the vendor to identify which results are internal demonstrations, customer acceptance tests or independently observed events.
- Plan magazine and reload logistics. Count how many kinetic interceptors, jammers, batteries, air vehicles and spare sensors are needed for the expected attack duration. Include transport, storage, maintenance, software updates and the time to restore coverage after an engagement.
- Verify legal and export status. Confirm spectrum authority, use-of-force rules, airspace permissions, export controls, end-user certificates and any country-specific restrictions before selecting a system. A product that is technically suitable may not be legally purchasable or employable by your organization.
- Price the whole life cycle. Public comparable prices were not identified for these alternatives. Request separate figures for sensors, C2 software, effectors, reloads, training, integration, sustainment, upgrades, spares and classified or export-controlled components. Compare recurring interceptor consumption with reusable sensing and non-kinetic options.
Countering swarms: what the evidence supports
Swarms expose the limits of a one-for-one interceptor model. The defender must maintain enough tracks, assign effects quickly, avoid exhausting expensive munitions and continue operating when several targets arrive from different bearings.
Best Value
Raytheon’s Coyote material explicitly addresses single drones through swarms when paired with KuRFS. Block 3NK is described as able to loiter, defeat swarms and be recalled for additional engagements, which could reduce expenditure compared with an entirely kinetic magazine. The practical result still depends on radar capacity, engagement sequencing, identification policy and the number of effectors available.
DroneShield’s RF-led approach can address multiple emitters with electronic warfare, but a swarm using autonomous navigation, frequency agility or minimal radio transmission may require radar, EO/IR or a kinetic layer. Shield AI’s computer-vision tracking can add passive tracks, yet the cited material does not identify a swarm-scale defeat mechanism. AeroVironment’s loitering munitions can supply tactical effects, but their employment is different from persistent automated defense of a site.
For a swarm requirement, ask each bidder for a complete engagement chain: maximum simultaneous tracks, track-update rate, sensor handoffs, effect assignment, reload time, behavior when communications fail and the number of operators required at peak load. Do not infer swarm capacity from a product label alone.

Procurement, maturity and cost realities
The alternatives differ in evidence type. Anduril’s Marine Corps MADIS award shows a $200 million program announcement dated November 19, 2024. Raytheon’s KuRFS and Coyote are described as integrated in Army LIDS. DroneShield publishes delivery and agency counts, but those are vendor-reported. Shield AI and AeroVironment materials establish product capabilities and mission roles, not a universal deployment scale. These facts should be weighed as evidence of program maturity, not treated as directly comparable performance scores.
No public, like-for-like prices were established for sensors, C2, interceptors, jammers, aircraft or integration. A quoted unit price can conceal the largest costs: site construction, spectrum engineering, secure networking, training, software support, reloads, maintenance and authorization to operate. Ask whether a price is one-time or recurring, whether it includes spares and whether an effect is expended, recoverable or reusable.
Availability also depends on geography and customer status. Military and government channels may have access to products or configurations unavailable to commercial buyers. Export approvals, classified performance data and program status can change during a procurement. Obtain written confirmation from the manufacturer and the relevant authority for your country rather than assuming that a system demonstrated elsewhere can be delivered to you.
Bottom line for a replacement decision
Choose DroneShield when the priority is a layered RF detection and electronic-warfare capability that can be deployed fixed, mobile or with dismounted teams. Choose Raytheon’s KuRFS-and-Coyote path when radar tracking, kinetic defeat, non-kinetic options and documented Army LIDS integration are central. Choose Shield AI when passive EO/IR autonomy, autonomous tracking or long-endurance ISR is the gap. Choose AeroVironment when tactical loitering munitions or autonomous aircraft are the desired effect.
