The Spark 50S 5G and Spark 50C are not the same phone: the former is an India-focused 5G model with a Dimensity 6400, while the latter is a 4G model built around a Helio G81. Both are reported with 6.78-inch, 120Hz displays, but their batteries, charging systems and network capabilities are different.
First, identify which TECNO model you are replacing
Search results and retailer listings can blur the names “Spark 50S,” “Spark 50S 5G” and “Spark 50C.” Treat the suffix as part of the product name. Launch coverage describes the Spark 50S 5G as an India-focused 5G handset, while the Spark 50C is a separate 4G phone. A 120Hz label alone does not make them equivalent.

The Spark 50S 5G specification comes from TECNO’s official product page and launch coverage. TECNO’s official Spark 50C page confirms the 6.78-inch, 120Hz, 720×1600 panel. The separate Spark 50 page also lists a 6.78-inch 120Hz, 720×1600 display, Helio G81, 50MP camera, 7,000mAh battery, 18W charging and 4G connectivity. Do not assume that “Spark 50” and “Spark 50S 5G” describe the same configuration.

1. Motorola moto g55 5G: the balanced 5G alternative
What it offers
Motorola’s official specification page lists an LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 50MP camera system. That combination makes the moto g55 5G the clearest mainstream cross-brand recommendation when you want a confirmed 120Hz screen and 5G without moving to an older model.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The comparison with TECNO is straightforward on the core requirements: both the Spark 50S 5G and moto g55 5G support 5G, and both advertise 120Hz-class smoothness. The Motorola uses LCD technology, so it should be judged differently from an AMOLED phone. LCD screens generally do not provide the same pixel-level black depth or perceived contrast as AMOLED, while viewing quality in sunlight also depends on brightness and calibration—figures not established in the cited specifications.
Who should buy it
- Choose it if 5G, a 120Hz panel and a 50MP camera are your minimum requirements.
- Choose it when you prefer a mainstream Motorola model and do not need the Spark 50S 5G’s unusually large 6,500mAh battery.
- Choose it when local warranty coverage and retailer support are more important than staying with TECNO.
What to verify before paying
The cited Motorola specification confirms the refresh rate, panel type and camera system but does not establish a single worldwide price, storage configuration, battery capacity or charging wattage. Check the exact regional model number, RAM and storage, 5G bands, charger included in the box and warranty terms. A retailer may list a similarly named regional variant with different memory or connectivity.
2. Redmi Note 14 5G: the display-first alternative
Why AMOLED changes the comparison
The cited Redmi product reference describes the China Redmi Note 14 5G with an AMOLED 120Hz display. AMOLED is the most meaningful screen upgrade over the LCD baseline represented by the Spark 50C and the LCD moto g55 5G: each pixel can switch off for black, giving stronger contrast in dark interfaces and video. Refresh rate and panel type measure different things; AMOLED does not automatically mean better gaming performance or a constant 120 frames per second.
Regional caution
Redmi specifications vary by market. The China reference cannot, by itself, establish the battery size, camera arrangement, supported 5G bands, charging speed, software package or storage options for a phone sold under the same name elsewhere. Before ordering an imported unit, confirm that its bands match your carrier, that the software includes the languages and services you need, and that local repair and warranty support apply.
Who should buy it
- Pick the Redmi Note 14 5G when perceived display quality and AMOLED contrast outrank battery capacity or brand continuity.
- Pick it for video, reading and dark-mode use where contrast is more visible than a modest refresh-rate difference.
- Do not choose it solely because the specification says “120Hz”; verify the exact regional edition first.
3. TECNO Spark 50 5G: the closest same-brand step up
Key specification advantage
TECNO’s official Spark 50 5G page lists a 6.78-inch display with up to 120Hz adaptive refresh, a Dimensity 6400 5G+ processor, a 6,500mAh battery, 45W charging and a 50MP camera. It also lists IP64 protection and military-grade shock-resistance certification. The product page describes the adaptive panel as supporting “up to 120Hz adaptive refresh rate for smoother experience when playing games and watching videos.”

This is the natural choice for a Spark 50C owner who wants to remain with TECNO while adding 5G and substantially faster charging. It also closely matches the Spark 50S 5G’s battery and charging figures, so buyers should compare street prices and included storage rather than assuming the names indicate a simple regional rename.
How it differs from the 4G Spark 50C
| Feature | Spark 50C | Spark 50 5G |
|---|---|---|
| Connectivity | 4G | 5G |
| Display behavior | 120Hz; 6.78-inch, 720×1600 | Up to 120Hz adaptive refresh; 6.78-inch |
| Processor | Helio G81 | Dimensity 6400 5G+ |
| Battery | 5,200mAh | 6,500mAh |
| Charging | 15W | 45W |
| Camera listed in official material | Not stated in the cited Spark 50C specification | 50MP |
| Protection information | Not stated in the cited Spark 50C specification | IP64 and military-grade shock-resistance certification listed |
Who should buy it
Buy the Spark 50 5G if battery endurance, 45W charging and staying inside TECNO’s software and service ecosystem matter more than obtaining an AMOLED panel. Its display is still a large 120Hz-class screen, but the official page does not identify it as AMOLED; do not infer panel technology from the refresh-rate figure.
4. TECNO Spark 20 Pro and Pro+: older 120Hz options
The Spark 20 reference lists both the Pro and Pro+ models with 120Hz displays. They can make sense when a retailer clears old stock at a substantial discount, especially for buyers who already know TECNO’s interface and accessories.
They are not automatic upgrades over the Spark 50-series. Confirm the exact processor, network generation, battery, charging system, Android version, remaining software support, storage and warranty for the unit in front of you. An older phone can be attractive on price but poor value if its support period is shorter or replacement parts are difficult to obtain.
- Compare the final local price with the Spark 50 5G, not only with the launch price of the Spark 20 models.
- Check whether the listing is for Pro or Pro+; the names identify different devices.
- Ask the seller to confirm that the box is sealed, the charger is included and the warranty is valid in your country.
How 120Hz actually behaves
Refresh rate is not frame rate
A 120Hz panel can redraw the image up to 120 times per second, but an app or game must produce enough frames to show a corresponding benefit. A demanding game may run below 120fps, and some applications may be limited to 60Hz. Android can also lower the refresh rate for static content to reduce power use.

- Sleek 7-in-1 USB-C Hub: Features an HDMI port, two USB-A 3.0 ports, and a USB-C data port, each providing 5Gbps transfer speeds. It also includes a USB-C PD input port for charging up to 100W and dual SD and TF card slots, all in a compact design.
- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Adaptive versus fixed modes
TECNO describes the Spark 50 5G as supporting up to 120Hz adaptive refresh. “Up to” means the phone can select a lower rate when conditions or content make that sensible. The Spark 50C’s official specification states 120Hz, but the cited page does not describe the same adaptive behavior. Motorola’s specification confirms 120Hz LCD operation, while the Redmi reference confirms AMOLED 120Hz; neither statement guarantees that every application will remain at 120Hz.

- Open Settings and search for Display, Refresh rate or Screen refresh rate.
- Select the highest or adaptive option available, then note whether a battery-saver mode changes it.
- Test scrolling in a browser and a supported game. If motion looks like 60Hz, check the app’s own frame-rate setting and any game mode restrictions.
- Repeat the test after unplugging the phone; thermal or power-saving controls can alter refresh behavior.
LCD versus AMOLED: which 120Hz screen is better?
| Consideration | LCD 120Hz | AMOLED 120Hz |
|---|---|---|
| Black levels and contrast | Backlight remains behind the panel, so blacks can appear lighter | Pixels can turn off for deeper blacks and higher perceived contrast |
| Models in this shortlist | Motorola moto g55 5G; TECNO LCD baseline is relevant to the comparison | Redmi Note 14 5G in the cited China reference |
| Refresh-rate implication | 120Hz does not guarantee 120fps | 120Hz does not guarantee 120fps |
| Buying decision | Often sensible when price, durability or brand support lead | Preferable when contrast and media viewing lead |
Panel technology is only one part of screen quality. Resolution, brightness, touch response, color tuning, glass, outdoor readability and refresh-rate controls also matter. The cited specifications establish 6.78-inch and 720×1600 figures for the Spark 50 and Spark 50C, but they do not provide independent brightness or color measurements for the shortlisted phones.
Performance, battery and charging priorities
Processor headroom
The Spark 50S 5G and Spark 50 5G use the Dimensity 6400 5G+ according to TECNO’s official material, while the Spark 50C and Spark 50 use the Helio G81. That gives the 5G models a different platform class and network modem. The cited material does not include standardized gaming benchmarks for the moto g55 5G, Redmi Note 14 5G or older Spark 20 models, so no honest ranking of their frame rates can be stated here.
For gaming, check the game’s supported frame-rate modes, the phone’s sustained-performance reviews from a source you trust, and whether the model throttles when warm. A 120Hz screen is most useful when the processor, cooling and game settings can feed it enough frames.
Battery capacity is not endurance
The Spark 50S 5G and Spark 50 5G list 6,500mAh batteries, while the Spark 50C lists 5,200mAh and the 4G Spark 50 lists 7,000mAh. Capacity is a useful starting point, not a laboratory endurance result. Screen brightness, mobile signal, refresh behavior, gaming and background applications can outweigh a nominal capacity difference.

Charging trade-offs
The Spark 50S 5G and Spark 50 5G list 45W charging. The Spark 50C lists 15W, and the Spark 50 lists 18W. Charger compatibility, cable rating and regional box contents can affect the experience. Verify that the advertised wattage applies to the exact regional model and that a suitable charger is supplied or available locally.

Camera specifications
TECNO lists a 50MP rear camera for the Spark 50 5G and Spark 50. Motorola lists a 50MP camera system for the moto g55 5G. The cited Redmi reference identifies the AMOLED display but does not establish one universal camera configuration for every market. Megapixels do not describe image processing, stabilization, low-light quality or video limits, so compare sample photos from the exact regional phone before making photography the deciding factor.
Updates and warranty
Software-update duration and warranty terms are country- and model-specific. Before purchase, find the manufacturer’s local support page and record the promised Android-version and security-update policy, authorized service locations, warranty length, exclusions and repair process. These details can make an older Spark 20 Pro a poor bargain even when its 120Hz display looks attractive.
A practical buying checklist
- Confirm the name: make sure the listing says Spark 50S 5G, Spark 50C, Spark 50 5G or another exact model rather than using “Spark 50S” loosely.
- Choose the network: select 5G only if your carrier supports the phone’s bands and you expect to keep the handset long enough to benefit from it.
- Inspect the panel: decide whether LCD is acceptable or whether the Redmi’s cited AMOLED advantage is worth the regional uncertainty.
- Check the exact resolution: the Spark 50 and Spark 50C are officially listed at 720×1600; do not assume every 6.78-inch alternative uses the same resolution.
- Match battery to use: heavy gaming and navigation favor larger capacity, while fast charging favors the 45W TECNO 5G models.
- Verify memory and storage: record the RAM, internal storage and card-slot arrangement on the exact regional SKU.
- Check the box: confirm charger wattage, cable, case and warranty card before opening the package.
- Compare the final price: use the local street price for the same storage variant, including taxes, delivery and any importer warranty risk.

Choose the Redmi Note 14 5G when
Your top priority is AMOLED contrast and the exact regional model has compatible bands, warranty and software. Treat the China reference as evidence of an AMOLED 120Hz version, not as a universal specification for every market.
Best Value

Choose the TECNO Spark 50 5G when
You want to stay with TECNO and value a 6,500mAh battery, 45W charging, 5G, a Dimensity 6400 5G+ platform and the listed protection features. It is the strongest same-brand step up from the 4G Spark 50C.
Keep the Spark 50C when
A low local price, reliable 4G coverage and the large 6.78-inch 120Hz display matter more than 5G or fast charging. Its 5,200mAh battery, 15W charging and Helio G81 should be treated as compromises rather than hidden equivalents to the Spark 50S 5G.
Consider the Spark 20 Pro or Pro+ when
You find genuine clearance stock at a price that undercuts newer phones after accounting for support, warranty and accessories. Verify every specification and software-support term because these are older alternatives.
Evidence limits that matter to the decision
The cited product pages establish refresh rates, selected processors, battery capacities, charging ratings, camera claims and, for the Redmi reference, AMOLED technology. No independent laboratory battery, brightness or gaming benchmark is established for this comparison. Consequently, the recommendations are based on documented specifications, display type, network class and ownership considerations—not on claimed endurance tests or measured frame-rate results.
