There is no verifiable speed-test winner in the available evidence. No published record includes the Berlin test handset, locations, dates, screenshots, download and upload results, or latency measurements, so it would be misleading to declare T-Mobile, Airalo or Holafly fastest. The useful answer comes from the plans themselves: T-Mobile can be simplest and preserves your existing line, while Airalo and Holafly sell Germany data packages that may provide more predictable high-speed capacity for a defined trip.
Use the comparison below to choose a connection, then test all active options on the same phone and route if you need a defensible performance result.

Bottom line: T-Mobile roaming is the lowest-friction choice if your qualifying plan already includes international data and you need your normal number. Airalo is a Germany data eSIM on O2 with several unlimited-duration packages in US dollars. Holafly is a Berlin data-only eSIM using Vodafone Germany and Telefónica Germany, with unlimited plans priced in euros. “Unlimited” does not by itself prove faster service, and actual Berlin performance changes with congestion, indoor coverage, handset capability and radio conditions.

What this comparison can—and cannot—claim
The title of this assignment describes a speed test, but the available published material does not contain the measurements needed to verify one. There is no documented test route, timestamp, device model, SIM configuration, server, download result, upload result or ping result. A provider’s advertised network and allowance are not the same thing as an independent speed result.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
That distinction matters in Berlin. A phone beside a clear outdoor window can perform very differently from the same phone on a crowded train, inside a concrete hotel or at a busy event. Two eSIMs can also receive different network priorities, and a dual-SIM phone may change radio behaviour when both lines are enabled. The comparison therefore treats plan terms as established facts and treats real-world speed as something you should measure for your own itinerary.

How T-Mobile roaming works in Berlin
Included data depends on your plan
T-Mobile’s 2026 international-plan terms list 215-plus countries and destinations. Experience Beyond and Go5G Next, including their Military, 55 and First Responder versions, include up to 15 GB of high-speed roaming data. Experience More, Go5G Plus and Magenta MAX include up to 5 GB. Germany is covered by the destination list, but the allowance is tied to the exact plan on your account, not simply to being a T-Mobile customer.
“High-speed” is an allowance, not a guaranteed download rate. T-Mobile does not promise one Berlin speed in the plan description; the result depends on the partner network available at your location, congestion and your phone’s radio support.
What happens after the high-speed allowance
After the included high-speed data is used, T-Mobile says roaming data continues unlimited at up to 256 Kbps. That is adequate for text-only messaging, basic email and lightweight pages, but it is a poor fit for video, large photo uploads, cloud backups, app updates, navigation-map downloads or hotspot use. A phone may still show a data connection while modern apps appear to hang because they expect substantially more throughput.
When a T-Mobile International Pass makes sense
T-Mobile also lists three International Passes: 2 GB for one day at $10, 15 GB for 10 days at $50 and 30 GB for 30 days at $75. These are separate purchases, so compare the pass cost with your existing plan benefit and the amount of data you expect to use. A pass can be useful when your plan has no included high-speed allowance, when a short trip would exhaust the allowance, or when you need a larger temporary bucket without changing your line.
Confirm the current activation rules, start time and eligible destinations in your T-Mobile account before buying. The figures above are the listed 2026 prices and allowances; taxes, account eligibility and later plan changes can affect what you see.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
The main T-Mobile advantage: continuity
Because you keep the T-Mobile line, your normal number remains associated with the phone. That is valuable for one-time passcodes, incoming calls and texts, and contacts who already know your number. Voice and messaging behaviour still follows T-Mobile’s plan and roaming terms, so do not assume that every call is free merely because data is included.

Network and package design
Airalo’s Germany product lists O2 as its primary network. Its 2026 product page shows unlimited-GB packages for six durations: 3, 5, 7, 10, 15 and 30 days. The listed prices are $11, $18, $24, $30, $42 and $59 respectively. Those amounts are in US dollars and are not directly comparable with Holafly’s euro prices without considering the exchange rate and any card fees.
Airalo says installation can be completed before arrival. That lets you download the eSIM while connected to home Wi-Fi and avoid searching for a shop after landing. Keep the activation instructions and QR code accessible offline in case you need to reinstall or inspect the line settings.
What “unlimited” does and does not establish
An unlimited label means the package is marketed without a stated gigabyte cap on the product page. It does not establish a permanent maximum speed, priority level or unrestricted hotspot allowance. Airalo’s fair-use and speed-management conditions for the exact package should be read at checkout, particularly if you plan to stream, upload video, tether a laptop or use the eSIM continuously for work.
Airalo’s phone-number limitation
Do not assume a Germany data eSIM supplies a German telephone number. Capabilities can differ by package, so inspect the selected listing for calling and SMS support. If it is data-only, leave your T-Mobile line enabled for identity texts while assigning mobile data to Airalo.

Holafly Berlin eSIM explained
Networks and coverage labels
Holafly’s Berlin eSIM lists Vodafone Germany and Telefónica Germany, with 4G and 5G where available. The two listed networks may give the phone more than one underlying option, but they do not guarantee that both are available at every address or that the phone will always select the faster one. Buildings, underground stations, local congestion and handset bands still matter.

Durations and prices
The 2026 Berlin listing shows unlimited plans at €11.37 for 3 days, €18.50 for 5 days, €25.50 for 7 days, €33.90 for 10 days, €46.90 for 15 days and €68.90 for 30 days. These are euro prices; your card issuer may apply its own conversion rate or foreign-transaction fee.
Data-only means a different setup
Holafly identifies this product as data-only. It is suitable for maps, messaging apps, ride-hailing and internet calling, but it does not replace your normal mobile number for conventional calls or SMS. Keep the T-Mobile line available if you need bank codes or incoming calls, and configure the Holafly line as the data line.
As with Airalo, read the current fair-use, hotspot and speed-management wording for the exact plan. Unlimited data can still be managed under those conditions, and the product page’s network label is not a measured Berlin speed guarantee.

The following table keeps each provider’s published currency and shows only matching durations. T-Mobile’s included benefit cannot be assigned a separate retail price, while its passes do not match every duration.
| Trip duration | Airalo Germany unlimited | Holafly Berlin unlimited | T-Mobile option |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 day | Not listed for this duration | Not listed for this duration | International Pass: 2 GB for $10; included benefit depends on plan |
| 3 days | $11 | €11.37 | Included benefit on qualifying plans, or use another pass duration |
| 5 days | $18 | €18.50 | Included benefit on qualifying plans, or use another pass duration |
| 7 days | $24 | €25.50 | Included benefit on qualifying plans, or use another pass duration |
| 10 days | $30 | €33.90 | International Pass: 15 GB for $50; included benefit depends on plan |
| 15 days | $42 | €46.90 | Included benefit on qualifying plans, or another T-Mobile arrangement |
| 30 days | $59 | €68.90 | International Pass: 30 GB for $75; included benefit depends on plan |
Do not compare the currency figures as if they were the same price. Also compare what happens after any speed threshold, whether hotspot is allowed, whether a phone number is supplied and whether you already pay for a T-Mobile plan that includes roaming.
Which option fits your Berlin trip?
Choose included T-Mobile roaming when simplicity is the priority
- Your account has a qualifying plan with enough high-speed data for the trip.
- You need your existing T-Mobile number for calls, texts or verification codes.
- You would rather avoid installing and troubleshooting another line.
- Your expected usage is moderate and you can tolerate reduced service after the allowance.
Check your account’s exact plan name before departure. “T-Mobile customer” is not a sufficient eligibility test because the allowance varies by plan.

Choose Airalo when you want a short, data-focused package on O2
- You have an unlocked phone and want to install the line before flying.
- Your itinerary matches one of the listed durations.
- You are comfortable checking package-specific data, hotspot and fair-use wording.
- You do not require the eSIM itself to provide your regular telephone number.
Choose Holafly when Vodafone or Telefónica access and unlimited marketing fit your use
- You want a Berlin-focused package with the two networks named on the listing.
- You expect heavy data use and understand that unlimited still has terms.
- You are happy to use app-based calling and messaging or keep T-Mobile active for voice and SMS.
- You can pay in euros and accept a data-only service.
Use a combination when reliability matters more than minimal cost
A dual-SIM phone can keep T-Mobile available for your number while assigning travel data to Airalo or Holafly. This gives you a fallback line, but it also increases configuration risk and can create unintended roaming charges if data switching is enabled. Decide which line is the sole data line before you leave and monitor usage during the first day.
Phone compatibility, unlocking and eSIM setup
Confirm the hardware first
Apple says eSIM setup works on iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR or newer when the provider supports eSIM. Airalo additionally requires an eSIM-compatible phone that is network-unlocked. Exact support varies by regional model, so check the model sold in your country rather than relying only on the family name.
Prepare before departure
- Check the carrier lock. On an iPhone, open Settings, General and About, then inspect the Carrier Lock field. A locked phone may reject a travel eSIM even if the hardware supports it; contact your carrier early if an unlock is required.
- Confirm internet access. Purchase the selected Airalo or Holafly package and install it while on reliable Wi-Fi. Keep the provider’s email, QR code or app instructions available offline.
- Label the lines. Give the existing T-Mobile line a clear label such as “T-Mobile” and the travel line a label such as “Germany data.” Clear labels prevent selecting the wrong line later.
- Choose the data line. In Cellular or Mobile Data settings, select the travel eSIM when you want to conserve T-Mobile’s roaming allowance. Turn off automatic data switching so the phone cannot silently fall back to the other line.
- Protect the T-Mobile line. If you use T-Mobile only for your number, disable data roaming on that line while travelling. Keep voice and SMS availability according to your needs and plan terms.
- Test at home. With Wi-Fi off, verify that the chosen data line opens a webpage and that your T-Mobile number can still receive the messages you need. Restore Wi-Fi after the test to avoid consuming data.
Activate after landing
- Turn off airplane mode and wait for the travel line to register.
- Ensure the travel eSIM is enabled and selected for cellular data.
- Leave network selection on automatic initially. If the provider instructs you to choose a listed network manually, follow that instruction and restart the phone.
- Open a simple webpage, then test maps and your messaging app before leaving the airport.
Menu names differ between iOS versions, Android devices and provider apps. Use the provider’s current activation instructions for APN values or manual network selection; do not invent an APN from another eSIM.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Can you keep your T-Mobile number while using an eSIM?
Yes, on a compatible dual-SIM phone you can keep the T-Mobile line active and use a travel eSIM for data. Set T-Mobile as the default voice line if you want outgoing calls to display your normal number, and select the travel eSIM as the mobile-data line. Incoming SMS for the T-Mobile line may still depend on account, roaming and device conditions, so verify it with a non-critical message before relying on it for a time-sensitive code.
Holafly’s Berlin product is data-only, and Airalo’s voice or SMS capabilities depend on the specific package. Internet calling services can work over either eSIM’s data connection, but that is different from receiving a conventional call on your T-Mobile number.

Apply even pressure for a few seconds to allow the suction cup to adhere properly. To maintain the grip and prevent accidental falls, it's a good practice to periodically reapply pressure to the suction cup.
- Use one handset. Test the same unlocked, eSIM-capable phone with identical battery-saving and VPN settings. Record the model, operating-system version and whether 5G is enabled.
- Control the SIM configuration. Test T-Mobile, Airalo and Holafly separately as the active data line. Disable automatic data switching and pause background backups, app updates and cloud photo uploads.
- Choose representative locations. Include an outdoor street, your accommodation, a transport hub and any venue where you expect to work. Record whether the phone is indoors, underground or behind a window.
- Repeat at defined times. Run at least three tests per location, such as morning, afternoon and evening. Congestion can make a single measurement misleading.
- Record the same metrics. Capture download, upload, latency and packet-loss results from the same test service. Note the displayed network type, serving network and signal indicator.
- Test real tasks. Open navigation, send a photo, join an audio call and load a normal webpage. A high peak download number is less useful if DNS delays or upload performance disrupt the tasks you actually need.
- Preserve evidence. Save screenshots with the date, local time, location, active line and test server. Do not present a winner without those details.
This approach can show which line performed better for your route and phone on those dates. It cannot guarantee the same ranking at another Berlin address or during a later visit.
Common problems and fixes
The travel eSIM installed but has no data
- Confirm the travel line is enabled and selected for cellular data.
- Check that airplane mode is off and restart the phone.
- Verify that the package has started and has not expired.
- Use the provider’s documented APN or network-selection instructions.
- Temporarily disable the T-Mobile line to rule out an accidental data-line selection, then re-enable it for calls and texts.
Data is suddenly extremely slow on T-Mobile
Check your account usage. Once the plan’s high-speed roaming allowance is consumed, T-Mobile’s stated maximum is 256 Kbps. At that rate, stop automatic updates and large uploads, switch to Wi-Fi for heavy tasks, or add an International Pass if the account and destination qualify.
The phone says the eSIM is unsupported
Confirm both requirements: the handset must support eSIM and it must be network-unlocked. Apple’s supported iPhone starting point is XS, XS Max or XR, but regional variants and carrier locks can differ. If the phone is locked, an eSIM purchase cannot bypass that restriction.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Calls or verification texts do not arrive
Keep the T-Mobile line enabled, make it the voice line, and check that the phone has registered on a network. Remember that a data-only Holafly eSIM cannot receive conventional SMS, and Airalo support depends on the package selected. Avoid disabling the T-Mobile line until you have confirmed that every service you need works over data.
Questions to settle before you buy
Is T-Mobile international data fast enough for Berlin?
It can be sufficient during the included high-speed allowance, but no plan page establishes a fixed Berlin speed. After the allowance, the stated 256 Kbps ceiling is unsuitable for high-bandwidth work. Your expected data volume and need for a normal number are better decision criteria than the brand name alone.
Is Holafly unlimited really unlimited in Germany?
Holafly markets the Berlin package as unlimited data, while its fair-use and speed-management conditions still govern use. Read the current terms for the exact duration, especially if you need hotspot or sustained high-volume traffic.
Which eSIM works best in Berlin?
There is no universal winner without a controlled test at your locations. Airalo lists O2; Holafly lists Vodafone Germany and Telefónica Germany. Choose based on network preference, duration, price currency, number requirements and the terms attached to the package, then measure performance on your own handset.
Do you need an unlocked phone?
Yes for Airalo, and in practice for any third-party travel eSIM. The phone must be both eSIM-compatible and free of a carrier lock. Apple’s eSIM-capable iPhone models begin with the XS, XS Max and XR generation, subject to regional and provider support.
