The Beats 360 are over-ear headphones, not in-ear earbuds. The “true wireless” description refers to how their electronics are arranged: each earcup has its own battery, antenna and processing components, rather than relying on as much hardware running through the headband. That design distinction sits alongside practical features such as active noise cancellation, interchangeable cushions and an IPX4 rating.
What “true wireless” means for Beats 360
Beats and Apple classify the Beats 360 as over-ear, or circumaural, headphones. They cover the ears; they do not fit inside the ear canal. T3 reports that each earcup houses separate batteries, antennas and processing components. This is the “true wireless architecture” behind the product’s description, not a different way of wearing it. T3 says the arrangement reduces hardware passing through the headband and supports a lighter, secure fit, though that is a reported design rationale rather than a guarantee of comfort for every wearer.

Beats executive Oliver Schusser described the product as “a new ID, a new look, and a new over-ear headphone for a different purpose” in an interview with TechRadar.

- ACTIVE NOISE CANCELLING (ANC): block distractions at work, on flights or during your daily commute. Or use Transparency mode to let the sounds of your environment mix in with your music.
- SEAMLESS WIRELESS CONNECTIVITY: One-touch pairing with Apple & Android for easy switching across devices.
- SPATIAL AUDIO IMMERSION: Personalized dynamic head tracking, 360-degree sound for movies, music and immersive everyday listening.
Cushions and portability
The earcup cushions and headband cushion are interchangeable, allowing owners to change the headphones’ look and replace cushions. Apple says additional Beats 360 Cushion Kits are sold separately. The headphones also fold flat, which can make them easier to pack than a rigid, non-folding design.
Sweat and splash resistance
Beats specifies an IPX4 rating. That means the headphones are rated for resistance to splashing water; it does not mean they are waterproof or suitable for submersion. The rating can make them more practical for sweaty workouts, but it is not a reason to expose them to heavy water or immerse them.

How long does the battery last?
Beats claims up to 32 hours of listening time with ANC and Personalized Spatial Audio enabled. The company also says a five-minute Fast Fuel charge provides up to one hour of playback. These are manufacturer figures, not independent test results; actual battery life can vary with settings and use. Charging is through USB-C, and Apple’s US listing says a USB-C charging cable and power adapter are sold separately.
What do they cost, and what is sold separately?
Apple’s US listing showed the Beats 360 at $349.99 when checked. Prices can change, and that figure applies to the US listing rather than every market. Apple also lists extra Beats 360 Cushion Kits, a USB-C charging cable and a power adapter as separate purchases.

TechRadar reported that cushion kits were $49.99 in the US, with an introductory $9.99 price through October 31, 2026. That was a dated promotion, not a standing price; check the current listing before buying. Schusser also told TechRadar, “We’re going to do a lot of drops,” referring to future cushion and color releases.

No wired audio input
T3 reports that the Beats 360 have no wired audio connection. That can be a limitation if you want to connect directly to a seat-back headphone jack for in-flight entertainment. T3 contrasts this with Beats Studio Pro, which has a 3.5 mm input. Check the entertainment system and your preferred connection method before relying on the 360 for a flight.

No wear detection
Tom’s Guide notes that the headphones lack wear detection, so you should not expect playback to pause automatically just because you take them off.
How they fit into the over-ear category
ANC, a fold-flat form and over-ear coverage make the Beats 360 relevant to everyday listening and travel, while IPX4 resistance and their secure-fit positioning also speak to active use. Their strongest distinctions are the interchangeable cushion system and the separate-electronics architecture in the earcups. For competing over-ear options, Tom’s Guide discussed the Bose QuietComfort (2nd Gen) and Sony WH-1000XM5 in a similar-price review context; market prices fluctuate, so compare current prices and the specific features you need rather than assuming the products cost the same today.
