Its current app-store listings name SNOW Corporation as developer and seller, with a South Korean business address, and NAVER’s corporate reports from 2020 and 2022 place B612 within SNOW’s camera-app portfolio. The evidence supports calling B612 a South Korean-developed app in that corporate context. It does not settle every question about investors, data-processing locations, or current ownership, and those limits are explained below.
What B612 is
B612 is a mobile camera and photo/video editing app. Its Google Play listing describes it as “the all-in-one camera & photo/video editing app” and lists real-time filters and beauty effects, AR effects, video editing, cropping and borders, stickers, text overlays, and user-created filters. Apple’s App Store listing places it in the Photo & Video category and describes camera, editing, and AR makeup features.

The app is distributed digitally and offers in-app purchases. Google Play displayed a download count of 500M+ with a 2026 update date of September 1, 2026. That figure is a platform-displayed download count, not an independently audited count of active users.
Who publishes B612
The question of nationality is best answered by the publisher named on the app stores, because that is the company that controls the listing and the app’s developer disclosures.

Neither listing names a Chinese company. The app’s name, or its availability in Chinese-language markets, does not change who publishes it.
The NAVER and SNOW connection
NAVER’s 2020 annual report describes SNOW as a NAVER laboratory and lists B612 among its augmented-reality and camera apps. NAVER’s 2022 integrated report again lists B612 among SNOW’s camera applications, and notes that the camera services earn revenue from advertising, subscriptions, and paid services at the portfolio level.

These are dated corporate statements. They establish the historical relationship between NAVER, SNOW, and B612 as of those report years. They are not a current ownership register, and they do not show how ownership has changed since. NAVER’s corporate profile of camera-service designer Lee Geun-sil also names B612 among filter camera apps she worked on, which adds context about the app’s development within NAVER’s Korean camera-services group.

- The name’s origin. The sources reviewed do not verify where the name “B612” comes from. Claims that it refers to the asteroid in The Little Prince are not confirmed by these sources.
- Full ownership. Publisher identity and dated NAVER reports do not give a current breakdown of shareholders or investors, or their nationalities.
- Where data is processed. A South Korean publisher does not mean all data stays in South Korea. SNOW’s B612 privacy policy, updated April 28, 2026, says information may be transferred to the United States or other countries where SNOW, its affiliates, or its service providers maintain facilities.
Reading the privacy disclosures
Google Play’s data-safety panel shows the developer’s declaration that no user data is shared with other companies or organizations, along with the categories of data the app may collect. Google notes that data practices can differ by app version, usage, region, and user age. Apple states that privacy details on its listings are provided by the developer and have not been verified by Apple.

- Check the developer’s address, which Google Play displays in the app’s listing details.
- Compare the publisher with dated corporate reports from NAVER if you want the historical relationship.
- Read the privacy policy for information about data transfers, rather than relying on the app’s origin.
Following these steps answers the nationality question. Questions about the name, current investors, and data location need separate sources.
