Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallCrashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteTo loop a video in AWS Elemental MediaLive, use a file input and set sourceEndBehavior to LOOP. MediaLive documents MP4 files pulled from Amazon S3 or an HTTP(S) server. For a 1080p H.264 YouTube Live output, YouTube’s current recommendations are 14 Mbps at 30 fps or 17 Mbps at 60 fps, with CBR and a two-second keyframe interval. The input-loop setting is documented; a complete, compatible MediaLive-to-YouTube output configuration still needs to be verified for the channel and ingest protocol you choose.
How do I loop a video in AWS Elemental MediaLive?
Configure a MediaLive file input, point it to a supported file location, and set the input’s sourceEndBehavior property to LOOP. AWS describes this behavior as allowing a file input to be streamed indefinitely: MediaLive API: sourceEndBehavior.

- Choose a file source. MediaLive can pull an MP4 from Amazon S3 or an HTTP(S) server. Static TS or M2TS files from those locations are also documented options. AWS says growing TS files being written while in use are unsupported. See MediaLive supported input formats.
- Create and configure the file input. Use the appropriate file-input type and location for the source. The exact input and channel configuration depends on your deployment; the source documentation does not establish one universal channel recipe.
- Set the end behavior. In the input settings, set
sourceEndBehaviortoLOOP. This is the documented file-loop control, not a schedule or an external repeat process. - Configure the channel output separately. Select an output group and encoding settings supported by your MediaLive channel, then verify that the output protocol is accepted by the intended YouTube ingest endpoint. The input-loop setting alone does not establish output compatibility.
- Start the channel and validate playback. Confirm that YouTube receives the intended resolution, frame rate, video and audio, and that the file returns to its beginning when it reaches the end.
Can MediaLive play an MP4 from S3 on repeat?
Yes. AWS documents MP4 file inputs from S3, and sourceEndBehavior: LOOP lets a file input continue indefinitely. The same documented MP4 source option is available from an HTTP(S) server. Choose a stable, accessible file location and confirm that the input can retrieve the object throughout operation.

What bitrate should I use for 1080p YouTube Live?
For H.264 video, YouTube’s guidance accessed in 2026 gives different recommended bitrates by frame rate. Use the value matching the output frame rate you configure, rather than treating “1080p” as one bitrate target.
| 1080p output | YouTube H.264 recommended video bitrate |
|---|---|
| 30 fps | 14 Mbps |
| 60 fps | 17 Mbps |
YouTube recommends CBR, a two-second keyframe interval, and says not to exceed four seconds. For stereo audio, its recommendation is 128 Kbps at a 44.1 kHz sample rate. These are YouTube recommendations, not a tested AWS encoder profile. Apply them in an encoding configuration supported by your selected MediaLive channel. See YouTube Live encoder settings.

Can AWS MediaLive stream directly to YouTube using RTMPS?
YouTube recommends RTMPS, a secure extension of RTMP. AWS’s documentation says MediaLive RTMP Pull and RTMP Push inputs do not support RTMPS, but that limitation concerns MediaLive inputs; it does not by itself establish what output protocols a particular MediaLive channel configuration supports. Do not infer a direct MediaLive-to-YouTube RTMPS path from the input documentation. Check the output group and protocol available for your channel, then verify that the chosen YouTube ingest endpoint accepts it. See AWS supported input formats and YouTube encoder settings.
What about YouTube HLS ingest?
YouTube documents HLS ingest as an alternative. Its requirements include TS segments lasting 1–4 seconds, a rolling playlist with no more than five outstanding segments, and HTTPS POST or PUT requests. The available AWS documentation does not establish that a specific MediaLive output group meets all of these requirements, so validate the selected configuration before relying on HLS. See YouTube encoder settings.

What must be decided before building a production profile?
The title specifies 1080p but not the rest of the media or channel profile. Before encoding, confirm:
- Frame rate: 30 or 60 fps, which determines the recommended H.264 bitrate above.
- Input codec, bitrate, and whether audio is present, including its codec and channel layout.
- The output codec and frame rate supported by the selected channel configuration.
- The output group and ingest protocol, verified against YouTube’s current requirements.
- Whether the source file is static and accessible for the entire run.
These details matter because the loop setting governs how MediaLive handles the end of a file; it does not convert an unspecified source and channel into a complete YouTube-ready profile. No universal deployed profile, direct output compatibility, regional availability, or end-to-end result is established here.

Troubleshooting a looping YouTube stream
- The file stops at the end. Check that the input is a file input and that
sourceEndBehavioris set toLOOP. - The input cannot read the file. Verify the S3 or HTTP(S) location and that the object is a supported format. For TS, confirm the file is static rather than still growing while in use.
- YouTube does not accept the stream. Re-check the MediaLive output protocol and YouTube ingest endpoint compatibility. The RTMP input limitation does not answer the output-protocol question.
- The video quality or motion does not match expectations. Check the actual output frame rate and use YouTube’s corresponding 1080p H.264 bitrate recommendation: 14 Mbps for 30 fps or 17 Mbps for 60 fps. Confirm CBR and a two-second keyframe interval, within YouTube’s four-second maximum.
- Audio is missing or unsuitable. Confirm that the source contains audio and that the output audio settings are compatible; YouTube recommends stereo at 128 Kbps and 44.1 kHz.
- HLS ingest fails validation. Check TS segment duration, playlist window, and HTTPS POST/PUT behavior against YouTube’s requirements, then verify that the specific MediaLive output group supplies them.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is a continuously looping YouTube channel rather than specifically building an AWS MediaLive workflow, StreamNeo is an alternative: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It loops uploaded video in the cloud, so no computer or home connection has to stay on. It streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot; it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly is $9.99 per month.
