It is the more natural fit when the task begins in a browser and you want to capture a page, mark it up and share it with colleagues through a promoted integration. Confirm that your plan includes the annotation, editing, download or recording features you need.

Choose Snagit for desktop editing and capture organization
Snagit is worth considering if you prefer a desktop editor, need the documented vertical or horizontal scrolling workflow, or want to organize captures in its library. For dynamic webpages, TechSmith recommends slowing the scroll; if automatic scrolling controls do not appear, its guide describes manual scrolling capture.

The feature descriptions here come from the vendors, not a comparative test. They establish advertised workflows, not which product captures a particular site more reliably or is easier for your team. Try the relevant capture path on your own pages before standardizing on one.

Free use, limits and Snagit pricing
Awesome Screenshot’s help article, updated May 15, 2026, says Free users can use the product without payment, with restrictions on advanced annotation, recording, editing and downloads. It also says Free and Basic cloud users share a total limit of 20 saved recordings—not 20 new recordings each month—and describes downloading and deleting recordings to stay within that cloud limit. TechSmith’s Snagit Individual store page listed $39 per user per year, billed yearly, when checked October 3, 2026. TechSmith support says Snagit is billed annually and does not have a monthly subscription. What to check before committing
- Capture client: Make sure the extension or desktop app you intend to use supports the features you need; Awesome Screenshot links to several clients, but its homepage does not establish that every feature works identically in each one.
- Long-page behavior: If you work with wide pages or dynamic content, Snagit’s documented horizontal, vertical and manual scrolling options may suit that workflow. Neither vendor information here proves a capture-accuracy advantage.
- Annotation and export: Check whether the plan includes the specific markup, editing and download options your team needs.
- Storage and sharing: Compare Awesome Screenshot’s cloud recording limit with your workflow, and decide whether integrations or a local/library-based organization model is the better fit.
- License and platform: Confirm current operating-system requirements, price, billing cadence and license terms at checkout.
