If the Awesome Screenshot icon has disappeared from Chrome’s toolbar, open the Extensions menu (the puzzle-piece icon), find Awesome Screenshot, and click its Pin control. If it is not listed, check whether it is installed from Chrome’s extensions management page.
Pin Awesome Screenshot to Chrome’s toolbar
- In Chrome, click the Extensions puzzle-piece icon near the top-right of the browser.
- Find Awesome Screenshot in the extensions list.
- Click its Pin control. The extension icon should then appear in the toolbar.
- Click the icon to open Awesome Screenshot. Choose the Capture tab and select the capture option you need.
Chrome can keep an extension available in the Extensions menu without showing its icon on the toolbar. Pinning restores the shortcut; it does not reinstall the extension.

If Awesome Screenshot is not in the Extensions menu
- Open the Extensions menu and choose Manage extensions.
- Check the extensions listed there for Awesome Screenshot.
- If it is absent, install it again using Awesome Screenshot’s Chrome installation instructions.
- After installation, open the Extensions menu and pin Awesome Screenshot if its icon is not already visible.
What to check if the icon is still missing
- It is listed in Extensions: use its Pin control in that menu. Chrome’s general toolbar customization controls are separate; the vendor’s specific recovery instruction is to pin Awesome Screenshot from the Extensions menu.
- It is not listed in Manage extensions: follow the vendor’s Chrome installation flow to install it again.
The available instructions establish these recovery steps, but do not identify a particular cause—such as a browser update, profile, policy, permissions setting, or account state—for an extension missing from the list.
