Choose by game edition first, then by visual style. AuraV is the more ambitious option if you want path-traced lighting, ray-traced reflections and a rebuilt atmosphere. VisualV is the more conventional weather-and-lighting overhaul with clearly documented Legacy and Enhanced packages. Neither choice has a trustworthy, mod-specific FPS benchmark in the available evidence, so a smooth result depends on your own RTX hardware, settings and tolerance for installation work.
AuraV publishes separate releases for GTA V Enhanced and GTA V Legacy. An installer made for the wrong branch may not work, even when the mod’s name looks identical. There is no universal “best” GTA V graphics mod. AuraV targets advanced lighting hardware and atmosphere; VisualV targets a broad weather-and-lighting makeover. Your edition, GPU and willingness to manage files matter more than a screenshot comparison.
Check whether you have GTA V Enhanced or Legacy
GTA V’s PC mod scene is split between Enhanced and Legacy branches. The split affects the game executable, file structure, tools and compatible releases. A July 24, 2026 comparison guide describes NaturalVision Evolved as the Legacy branch and NaturalVision Enhanced as the Enhanced branch, while noting that QuantV’s Enhanced status was not clearly documented at the time. For AuraV, the creator’s own page identifies AuraV Enhanced for GTA V Enhanced on PC and AuraV Legacy for GTA V Legacy and FiveM. Treat those labels as hard requirements, not marketing names. If your launcher or installation offers both game versions, identify the executable and branch you actually intend to mod before extracting anything.
Rockstar maintains separate system-requirement pages for Enhanced and Legacy and warns that requirements can change over time. Those requirements describe the unmodified game, not the additional load of AuraV or another graphics overhaul. Check the current Rockstar page for your branch rather than assuming that a computer capable of Legacy will deliver the same result in Enhanced.
What AuraV changes
AuraV is a PC graphics overhaul by Kypos. The creator describes it as “a free graphics mod for Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced on PC” on the official page at kyposmods.com. The project’s defining feature is path-traced lighting, supplemented by ray-traced reflections. It also rebuilds the sky and atmosphere, changes weather, and adds visual effects for water, smoke and skin lighting.

Path tracing changes how light is calculated through a scene, so the appeal is not simply a brighter or more saturated color grade. Reflections, indirect illumination and atmospheric depth are intended to respond more realistically to the environment. The creator says AuraV’s path tracing is built for NVIDIA RTX graphics cards and describes use of DLSS Ray Reconstruction. That statement identifies the intended hardware and rendering approach; it does not establish that every RTX model will maintain a particular frame rate.
Sky, weather and atmosphere
AuraV’s rebuilt sky and atmosphere are part of the free Lite release, along with lighting and weather changes. These systems affect the overall look across clear conditions, cloud cover, fog and storms rather than only changing a single texture. If your priority is a consistent cinematic mood, this broader environmental treatment is the main reason to choose AuraV over a conventional timecycle edit.

How to install AuraV Enhanced
The official AuraV instructions for Enhanced are short. They are publisher instructions rather than an independent test, so follow the current creator page if its files or labels change.

- Download the Enhanced release. Confirm that the download is labelled for GTA V Enhanced, not Legacy. Keep the archive until you have confirmed the game launches correctly.
- Unzip the files beside the game executable. The creator’s instruction is to place the extracted AuraV files next to the GTA V Enhanced executable. Do not assume that a similarly named folder elsewhere in the installation is equivalent.
- Launch Story Mode. AuraV’s documented setup starts from Story Mode rather than immediately testing in an online session.
- Open AuraV settings. Press
F10after the game loads. Use the settings interface to enable or adjust the available effects.
The site says AuraV checks for updates when the game starts and displays a notice when a newer version is available. Record the installed version before updating so you can return to the previous archive if a new release causes a problem. The supplied instructions do not provide a separate Legacy or FiveM procedure; for those targets, use the current AuraV Legacy documentation rather than adapting the Enhanced steps by guesswork.
What VisualV offers
VisualV is a useful alternative when your goal is a weather and lighting overhaul rather than path-traced rendering. Its listing describes rewritten weather, increased light draw distance, revised clouds and fog, and optional visual changes. That scope can produce a substantial change in daytime, nighttime and storm scenes without making path tracing the central feature.

The listing gives different procedures for the two branches. VisualV Enhanced requires manual file placement using CodeWalker and OpenRPF. VisualV Legacy uses an OpenIV package. That means the Enhanced route demands more direct handling of archive contents, while the Legacy route follows the package workflow described by the author. Do not substitute one toolchain for the other simply because the mod name is the same.

A compatibility limitation to note
VisualV’s listing says its advanced motion blur is incompatible with NaturalVision Evolved and NaturalVision Remastered scripts because the game does not allow multiple timecycle modifiers through natives. If you already use one of those scripts, disable the conflicting motion-blur component or choose a setup that does not require both modifiers. This is a specific documented conflict, not proof that every VisualV feature conflicts with every other mod.
How the major alternatives differ
The dated comparison guide at gta6cartel.com/news/best-gta-5-graphics-mods is useful for mapping the branch split, but it is not an official mod-maker compatibility list. It distinguishes NaturalVision Evolved on Legacy from NaturalVision Enhanced on Enhanced and says QuantV’s Enhanced status was not clearly documented in that guide. Use those names as leads for checking current creator pages, not as a substitute for the release notes attached to the file you plan to install.
In practical terms, compare alternatives on four questions:
- Exact edition: Is the release explicitly for Enhanced, Legacy or FiveM?
- Visual objective: Does it prioritize path-traced lighting, weather and color, reflections, atmosphere or a particular cinematic style?
- Hardware evidence: Does the creator state an intended GPU class, and is there a reproducible benchmark?
- Maintenance: Does installation require manual archive work, a package tool or a settings overlay, and how does the project announce updates?
The available sources provide no controlled AuraV-versus-competitor benchmark. A screenshot can show artistic direction, but it cannot establish equal settings, frame time or stability across branches.
Hardware and performance: what is actually known
AuraV’s creator says its path tracing is built for NVIDIA RTX cards and mentions DLSS Ray Reconstruction. That is the strongest hardware guidance available for AuraV. No source reviewed here names a minimum RTX model, a tested VRAM capacity, a target resolution or an AuraV-specific frame-rate result.
Rockstar’s PC system requirements page, updated December 10, 2025, separates Enhanced and Legacy requirements and notes that requirements may change. Use it to establish whether the base game is supported on your system, then treat the mod as an additional, unquantified workload. A computer that meets Rockstar’s listed requirement is not thereby guaranteed to run path tracing smoothly.

A sensible way to test your own system
- Install only one graphics overhaul first, with the correct branch.
- Run the same Story Mode route in comparable weather and time-of-day conditions before and after enabling major effects.
- Change one expensive-looking setting at a time in the AuraV F10 menu rather than changing every option simultaneously.
- Keep notes on visual artifacts, loading behavior and subjective smoothness; do not treat an internet FPS claim as a substitute for your own test.
This process does not create a universal benchmark, but it prevents you from attributing a problem to the wrong mod or setting.
Choose with this decision framework
Choose AuraV Lite when
- You have GTA V Enhanced or the correctly labelled Legacy/FiveM target.
- You want path-traced lighting, ray-traced reflections and an atmospheric sky overhaul.
- You have an NVIDIA RTX GPU and accept that the creator has not published a minimum model or FPS guarantee.
- You want to try the core feature set without paying for the Full Early Access edition.
Choose AuraV Full (Early Access) when
- You already prefer AuraV’s lighting and atmosphere after testing Lite.
- Water and vehicle effects are worth patron access to you.
- You understand that Early Access status can mean changing features or support details, so you will check the creator’s current terms.
Choose VisualV when

- You would rather use a conventional weather-and-lighting overhaul than make path tracing the centerpiece.
- You are comfortable following the branch-specific toolchain: CodeWalker and OpenRPF for Enhanced, or the author’s OpenIV package route for Legacy.
- You do not need VisualV’s advanced motion blur alongside NaturalVision Evolved or Remastered scripts.
Pause before choosing any mod when
- You cannot identify whether your installation is Enhanced or Legacy.
- The download page does not clearly state the branch you use.
- You need a guaranteed frame rate for a particular GPU; the available evidence does not provide one for AuraV or a controlled comparison with competitors.
- You are unwilling to restore files or troubleshoot a manual installation.
Installation and maintenance practices that reduce trouble
Branch mistakes are the most avoidable failure. Keep Enhanced and Legacy downloads in separate folders, preserve the archive and read the creator’s release notes before replacing an older version. Do not copy a Legacy package into an Enhanced directory or apply an Enhanced CodeWalker/OpenRPF procedure to Legacy.
For AuraV Enhanced, the documented recovery checks are straightforward: confirm the files are beside the correct executable, start Story Mode and press F10. If the settings interface does not appear, stop and re-check the branch and extraction location before adding another mod. For VisualV, return to the author’s instructions and verify that you used the toolchain corresponding to your branch.
Install one overhaul at a time when diagnosing problems. Combining large lighting changes can make it impossible to tell which archive or timecycle modifier caused an artifact. The documented VisualV motion-blur conflict with NaturalVision scripts is a concrete example of why feature-level compatibility matters more than assuming that two “graphics mods” will stack.
Finally, watch for update notices. AuraV says it checks for updates at game start; VisualV versions and dates are shown on its listing. Because GTA V branches and mod loaders evolve, re-check the creator pages immediately before every major game or mod update.

For an RTX-equipped PC owner who wants path-traced lighting and a rebuilt atmosphere, start with AuraV Lite on the exact GTA V branch you use. Move to AuraV Full only if its additional water and vehicle effects justify patron access. For a weather-focused overhaul with documented branch-specific packages, VisualV is the clearer alternative. Neither project comes with a sourced, universal FPS promise, so edition matching and a cautious one-mod-at-a-time test are more reliable than choosing from screenshots alone.
