No. Adobe Audition’s documented multitrack export options include OMF and Final Cut Pro XML, but not AAF. If a post-production facility specifically requires AAF, Adobe documents exporting it from Premiere Pro instead; that is a separate application workflow, not an AAF export from Audition. Confirm the receiving application’s requirements before choosing a handoff.
Which interchange formats can Audition export?
Adobe’s Audition multitrack export documentation lists two interchange options: OMF and Final Cut Pro XML Interchange Format. Its list of multitrack formats Audition can open includes OMF, Final Cut Pro XML Interchange, Premiere Sequence XML, Audition session files and Audition 3.0 XML, but not AAF. That distinction matters: Audition can participate in several interchange workflows, but its documented multitrack export menu does not provide direct AAF output. Adobe describes AAF as a multimedia format for exchanging digital media and metadata, and documents AAF export in Premiere Pro.

What can you send instead?
OMF from Audition
Use OMF if the recipient accepts it and needs an editable multitrack handoff. In Audition, choose File > Export > OMF. The export dialog offers settings for sample type, encapsulated or referenced media, trimming and handle duration. Review the export warnings, which identify session elements that will be excluded or changed. Adobe states that an encapsulated OMF file is limited to 2 GB; referenced media avoids putting all audio into one encapsulated file. See Adobe’s OMF export instructions.

Ask the recipient whether they want media embedded or referenced and whether they need handles—the extra audio around edits that leaves room for adjustments. Confirm the required sample rate and bit depth rather than assuming the project settings match the delivery specification.
Final Cut Pro XML from Audition
Audition also offers File > Export > FCP XML Interchange Format, but Adobe documents substantial exclusions. The export drops the second channel of stereo clips, turning clips and tracks into mono; it also excludes overlapping clips, effects and track EQ, most automation, and output routing, sends, buses and the mix track. The listed automation exceptions are clip volume and mono-to-stereo track panning. Check Adobe’s export documentation before relying on XML for an editable transfer.

AAF through Premiere Pro
If AAF is mandatory, Adobe documents exporting AAF from Premiere Pro. Adobe says Premiere-exported AAF files are compatible with Avid Media Composer and Avid Pro Tools; it has not tested them with other AAF importers. Verify the exact receiving application and workflow with the recipient. The documented Premiere process is not an Audition AAF export. See Adobe’s AAF export guide.
There is also a Windows-specific size constraint: Adobe says embedded Premiere AAF files larger than 2 GB are unsupported and fail to export on Windows (Intel and Arm). For a large AAF, Adobe advises exporting with separate audio instead of embedded audio. Check the guide for current application-version details.

Rendered mix or stems
If the recipient does not need to move individual edits, a rendered mix may be a more appropriate deliverable. If separate elements need independent control, provide stems instead, subject to the recipient’s specifications. Adobe documents a workflow for sending a Premiere sequence to Audition and exporting the completed multitrack to Adobe Media Encoder, with customizable routing of tracks to output channels. That supports final audio or video output; it does not turn Audition’s session export into AAF. See Adobe’s multitrack workflow documentation.

How to choose the handoff
- Ask the recipient what they can import. Confirm the required interchange format and version, target application, embedded or referenced media preference, sample rate, bit depth, and whether they need editable clips or a rendered mix.
- Choose an option that preserves the required work. Use OMF when the recipient accepts it and its warnings do not remove needed session elements. Use FCP XML only if its documented exclusions are acceptable. Use Premiere Pro for AAF only when the project and handoff allow that workflow and the recipient’s importer is suitable.
- Set media and edit flexibility deliberately. For OMF, decide between encapsulated and referenced media and set trimming and handles to the recipient’s needs. Account for the 2 GB encapsulated OMF limit.
- Inspect warnings and verify the export. Treat warnings as delivery information, not as a formality. If a format cannot preserve essential edits, effects or routing, arrange a rendered mix or stems alongside the interchange package.
- Package the session’s media. An SESX file is not a self-contained audio handoff: Adobe explains that it is a small XML-based file pointing to audio and video files on disk, with session details such as file locations, envelopes and effects. Include the associated media or use a suitable interchange export. See Adobe’s session-file documentation.
