Can Wendy’s Rewards points be transferred?
Wendy’s does not allow point transfers. The Rewards Terms say that accounts are personal and cannot be sold, transferred, assigned, or shared. They also state:

That rule applies whether the transfer is requested because a restaurant closed, because you created a second account, or because you want to give points to a family member. Customer Care can investigate a balance or redemption problem, but the published rules do not provide a transfer or cash-out remedy.
Where can you use the points instead?
Wendy’s explains that Rewards are redeemed at participating Wendy’s restaurants, through the Wendy’s app, or through the Wendy’s website. In-person redemption requires a participating location, and participation, operating hours, menu availability, and eligible items can vary by restaurant.

Using another restaurant in person
Open the Wendy’s app or website, choose a different participating restaurant, and check that the Reward can be applied to the item you intend to order. A restaurant can be open while still being unable to honor a specific offer because of participation, stock, menu, or ordering restrictions.

Ordering through the app or website
Log in to the account that earned the points, select a participating restaurant for the order, and apply an available Reward during checkout. If the Reward does not appear, verify that you are using the original account and that the Reward has not expired. Do not create a second account as a workaround; doing so will not transfer the original balance.
How long do Wendy’s points and Rewards last?
A closed restaurant does not pause the program’s normal deadlines. Wendy’s official Rewards FAQ states that points expire 365 days from the day they were earned. A claimed Reward expires 30 days after claiming unless the individual Reward says otherwise.

- Your Wendy’s Rewards account is not stated to close automatically.
- Points remain subject to the 365-day expiration rule.
- Claimed Rewards remain subject to their 30-day expiration period unless the Reward specifies otherwise.
- You can attempt redemption at another participating restaurant or through digital ordering.
Your account was terminated
- Wendy’s Terms state that all previously earned points and unused Rewards automatically terminate and become null and void.
- Re-enrolling starts with a zero-point balance.

The published Terms do not say that a store closure alone triggers the second scenario. If you can still sign in and see your account, that is consistent with a location change rather than an account termination, although Wendy’s internal records control the official balance.
What to do after your local Wendy’s shuts down
- Confirm that the closure is local. Try the restaurant selector in the app or website. A location may be temporarily unavailable, have changed hours, or have stopped participating rather than permanently closed.
- Sign in to the original Rewards account. Use the email address, phone number, or other sign-in method associated with the points. A separate account will show a separate balance.
- Check your point and Reward dates. Identify when each point batch was earned and when each claimed Reward expires. The general limits are 365 days for points and 30 days for claimed Rewards, subject to the Reward’s own terms.
- Choose another participating location. Check the restaurant’s participation and the item’s availability before placing an in-person order.
- Try digital redemption. Select another participating restaurant in the Wendy’s app or website and apply the Reward during checkout.
- Save evidence of a problem. Keep the order date, restaurant selected, error message, Reward name, and screenshots of the balance or expiration date. This information helps Customer Care review a discrepancy.
- Contact Wendy’s Customer Care if the balance is wrong. Use Wendy’s Customer Care channels or call 888-624-8140. Ask for an account-balance or redemption review, not a transfer, because the published Terms do not authorize transfers.
Why a point balance might look different after the closure
Expired points
If points were earned more than 365 days ago, they may have expired independently of the restaurant’s closure. A move to another location does not restore expired points.
An expired claimed Reward
A Reward can disappear 30 days after it was claimed, unless its individual terms provide another deadline. The date you claimed it matters; the date the restaurant closed does not reset that period.

Using a different email address, phone number, or sign-in option can open an account with no history. Sign out, then return to the account that originally received the points. Avoid sharing credentials, because Wendy’s treats the account as personal.

Location or item restrictions
A Reward may be visible but unavailable at a selected restaurant because that restaurant does not participate, the item is not on its menu, or the item is temporarily unavailable. Test another participating location or a different eligible item before assuming that the points are gone.
Account termination
If Wendy’s or the member terminated the account, the Terms make the consequence broader than a missing display: all earned points and unused Rewards become null and void, and re-enrollment begins at zero. Customer Care can clarify the account status, but the Terms do not promise restoration or transfer after termination.

Wendy’s says its internal records determine account balances. That means a screenshot, receipt, or memory of an earlier balance may help explain the issue but does not replace the company’s account record.
- Customer Care can review: an account that appears to have lost points, a Reward that will not apply, a restaurant-selection error, or a discrepancy between an order and the displayed balance.
- Customer Care is not given a transfer route: the Terms prohibit transferring points or Rewards and do not provide cash or gift-card redemption.
- Provide precise details: the account identifier, affected restaurant, order date, Reward name, error message, and approximate point amount.
Call 888-624-8140 when you need a direct review, and retain the case details supplied by the representative.
Program changes and the current Terms
Wendy’s reserves the right to change or terminate the Rewards program and its point or Reward policies. The rules summarized here are based on the Rewards Terms effective July 31, 2026 and the official Rewards FAQ. Because the program can change, check the current Terms and the specific Reward details before relying on an expiration date, participation rule, or redemption condition.
A future policy could address closures differently, but no closure-specific transfer policy is stated in the cited Terms. Until Wendy’s publishes such a rule, the safest interpretation is that a location closure leaves the personal account intact while the normal non-transfer, redemption, expiration, and termination rules continue to apply.
Bottom line for a closed local restaurant
You do not lose Wendy’s Rewards points merely because one restaurant closes, and you cannot transfer them to another person or account. Keep using the original account at another participating Wendy’s restaurant, in the app, or on the website. Act before points reach 365 days or a claimed Reward reaches its 30-day deadline.
