No Resident Evil 5 or Resident Evil 6 remake has been confirmed. Resident Evil executive producer Jun Takeuchi reportedly said Capcom is developing the series on two tracks—numbered games that advance its ongoing story and remakes that revisit its past—and is preparing for them to meet in a future “crossover.” The remarks point to a long-term direction, not an announcement of specific remakes or a single merged continuity.
What Takeuchi reportedly said
In a Japanese publication for Resident Evil’s 30th anniversary, Takeuchi described the numbered games and remakes as serving different roles. As rendered in GamesRadar’s coverage, numbered titles let players follow the series’ ongoing drama, while remakes let them experience its past. He also reportedly said the remake series would eventually catch up to the era of numbered titles and that Capcom was considering mechanisms for that convergence.

Takeuchi reportedly framed past and planned franchise references as groundwork for a crossover. The examples in GamesRadar’s account include Umbrella and Spencer in Resident Evil Village and Raccoon City in Resident Evil Requiem. VGC’s coverage likewise reports the two-track idea and preparation for a future crossover. GamesRadar’s September 30, 2026 report and VGC’s October 1, 2026 report reproduce English translations of the remarks.

Are Resident Evil 5 and 6 remakes confirmed?
No. Takeuchi’s reported comments do not name Resident Evil 5 or Resident Evil 6 as projects in development, and they do not announce either remake. GamesRadar explicitly cautions that the remarks should not be read as confirmation of those games.
The “RE5 and RE6 remakes teased” framing is an interpretation drawn from the broader crossover discussion and fan speculation, not the specific announcement Takeuchi reportedly made. Beebom’s September 30, 2026 coverage reflects that stronger interpretation; it does not establish official confirmation.

- An Anniversary to Remember: With March 2026 marking the Resident Evil series’ 30-year anniversary, Resident Evil Requiem marks its own milestone in the franchise.
- Pre-orders for Resident Evil Requiem are now open, with the bonus of Grace’s costume: Apocalypse. Please note that the picture weapon does not come with the costume, but it can be obtained in-game.
What could “crossover” mean?
The published excerpts do not explain the crossover’s format. They support the idea that Capcom is considering a future connection between the remake track and numbered-game track, but they do not say whether that means shared story events, characters or settings appearing across both, a particular release, or some other form of convergence.

- Reawaken a Classic – Resident Evil 4 preserves the essence of the original game, now reconstructed using Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine to deliver realistic visuals and additional narrative depth to the iconic story that was not possible at the time of the original release.
- Modernized Gameplay – The team from 2019’s Resident Evil 2 returns to build upon the series’ modern approach to survival horror. Engage in frenzied combat with the Ganados villagers, explore a European village gripped by madness, and solve puzzles to access new areas and collect useful items for Leon and Ashley’s constant struggle to survive.
- Overwhelming Hordes – Face hordes of rabid enemies that threaten to overwhelm Leon with even more diverse methods of attack than in the original release.
- Survive on a Knife’s Edge – Years of intense training have taught Leon new ways to use his knife, helping to even the odds against the unrelenting onslaught of enemies. By parrying enemy attacks, you can avoid debilitating damage and evade lunging enemies seeking to grab Leon and hold him in place. Make smart use of scavenged knives to deliver precise finishing moves on vulnerable enemies, and even use the element of surprise to quietly dispatch unsuspecting foes before they break.

Official context: Requiem’s announced release
In a September 16, 2025 press release, Capcom described Resident Evil Requiem as the ninth main installment and scheduled it for February 27, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2 at launch. That is the release schedule Capcom announced in 2025, not a fresh confirmation of current availability. The same release reported more than 174 million cumulative Resident Evil game sales as of June 30, 2025.
