No. Apple does not describe MacBook Air as waterproof or give it a water-resistance rating in its liquid-damage guidance. Keep it dry: spills, rain, and submersion can damage a Mac, and liquid damage may require service.
Can a MacBook Air get wet?
It can get wet, but that does not mean it is designed to tolerate water. Apple warns that liquid exposure can damage Mac computers and accessories. Its guidance does not establish that any MacBook Air generation is safe from spills or submersion, so do not treat one as water-resistant.

A protective sleeve or bag may reduce exposure while carrying a MacBook Air, but it does not waterproof the computer. Apple’s guidance does not test or recommend particular sleeves.

What happens if you spill water on a MacBook Air?
Liquid exposure can cause damage, and Apple says a Mac with liquid damage might need service. If the MacBook Air is malfunctioning after contact with liquid, contact Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider about having it assessed. Apple’s cited guidance does not provide MacBook Air-specific spill-response steps or establish that a computer is safe once it looks dry.

- Keep drinks and other liquids away from your MacBook Air.
- Use a water-resistant sleeve or bag as a transport precaution, not as a substitute for keeping the computer dry.
- If liquid exposure is followed by a problem, ask Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider about service rather than assuming the Mac is safe because it appears dry.
