Archify is a local-first Chrome extension for inspecting a live web app’s frontend and client-side security signals. It can identify likely frameworks such as React, Next.js, Vue, Angular, or Svelte; show the component type behind a hovered element; reveal UI-library and API clues; profile hosting signals; and list third-party scripts that can access sensitive form fields. Its most meaningful differentiator is that analysis runs in the browser and reports confidence instead of inventing an exact component name.

That makes Archify useful for quick architecture triage, authenticated-page inspection, and understanding which scripts can reach payment or password fields. It is not a general technology directory, a source-code decompiler, or proof that a production component has a particular name. Minification, framework wrappers, and indistinguishable runtime primitives can reduce specificity.

Archify at a glance

Question Answer
What is it? A Manifest V3 Chrome extension that inspects a live web application in the browser.
Primary outputs Framework signals, component type, UI-library clues, API activity, hosting signals, third-party scripts, and sensitive-field access.
Processing model Local browser analysis; the listing says there is no account, server processing, or telemetry.
Network exception A same-origin request to the page’s own URL is used to read hosting headers.
Current store version Version 0.2.1, attributed to Salahudeen in the 2026 Chrome Web Store record.
Store adoption shown 271 users and a 5.0 score from five ratings in that 2026 record.
Source license Apache-2.0 in the Salah-XD repository.
Inspection shortcut Ctrl+Shift+H, with a rebindable browser shortcut.

The store record was updated August 21, 2026, and cautions that displayed ratings may not represent the most recent reviews. The user and rating figures therefore indicate early adoption, not broad reliability across every framework or site.

What Archify actually inspects

Runtime framework evidence

Archify looks at what the page is doing at runtime rather than relying only on static technology-name signatures. It can surface signals associated with React, Next.js, Vue, Angular, and Svelte. Runtime evidence is valuable when a site hides framework names from headers or bundles, but it still reflects what is exposed in the loaded page. A hybrid application can produce several clues, and a custom rendering layer can leave less evidence than a conventional app.

  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

The component behind an element

Hover inspection is intended to answer questions such as “What component is behind this button?” The overlay can report a component type and, when evidence is strong enough, a more specific identity. On minified production builds, exact source-level names may not survive the build. Archify’s design is to show the type and a confidence score rather than manufacture a name.

UI libraries and API activity

The extension can expose UI-library hints and APIs triggered by an interaction. These signals help explain whether a visible control is backed by a component system, a data-fetching call, or a browser API. They are observations of the loaded application, not a complete inventory of the project’s source code or dependency manifest.

Page Profile and security exposure

The whole-page Profile summarizes the detected stack, hosting-provider signals, and client-side security exposure. It also reports third-party scripts and outbound calls, including which scripts can read sensitive form fields such as passwords or card numbers. That is a useful client-side view: it tells you what code already running in the page can reach, rather than merely naming the server or scanning the network perimeter from outside.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

How the local inspection model works

The repository describes a two-part browser implementation. A script in the page’s MAIN world observes framework signals and intercepts fetch and XMLHttpRequest activity. An isolated content script assembles those observations and renders the interface in a Shadow DOM overlay. This arrangement lets Archify observe runtime behavior while keeping the visible inspector separated from the page’s own CSS and JavaScript.

The Chrome Web Store listing states that everything runs 100% locally in the browser and that there is no account, no server, and no telemetry. The stated exception is narrow: Archify can make a same-origin request to the page’s own URL to read hosting headers. Page contents are not sent to Archify or another third party for analysis. That distinction matters on internal dashboards and authenticated pages, where sending HTML, form data, or application state to a hosted scanner may be unacceptable.

Install Archify

Use the Chrome Web Store

  1. Open the official Archify listing in Chrome.
  2. Select Add to Chrome and approve the extension permissions shown by Chrome.
  3. Open the target web application in a tab. If it was already open, reload it so the content scripts attach cleanly.
  4. Use the extension toolbar icon or the documented shortcut to start inspection.

The store route is the practical choice for most readers because it provides the packaged build and automatic update path.

Build from the open-source repository

  1. Clone or download the Salah-XD repository.
  2. From the project directory, run npm install.
  3. Build the extension with npm run build.
  4. In Chrome, open chrome://extensions and enable Developer mode.
  5. Choose Load unpacked and select .output/chrome-mv3/.
  6. Pin the extension if you want one-click access, then open or reload the page to inspect.

Building from source is appropriate when you need to inspect the implementation, reproduce a particular revision, or keep the packaged code inside a controlled development environment. The repository identifies the project as Apache-2.0 licensed.

Inspect a page: the practical workflow

  1. Open the page you want to understand. This can be a public page or an authenticated page that is already visible in your browser.
  2. Enable the inspector. Use the extension control or press Ctrl+Shift+H. The shortcut can be changed in Chrome’s extension-shortcut settings.
  3. Hover the target element. Move over a button, input, menu, or other control to display the overlay’s framework, component, library, API, and confidence signals.
  4. Click to lock the result. Locking prevents the panel from changing as you move across nearby elements. Press Esc to dismiss it.
  5. Open the whole-page Profile. The toolbar icon provides the broader stack, hosting, script, outbound-call, and client-side exposure view.
  6. Interpret confidence before acting. Treat a high-confidence runtime signal as stronger evidence than a low-confidence library hint, and verify important conclusions in the application’s own development or security workflow.

Analysis is on demand rather than permanently active. Hover inspection is off by default, so the extension is not continuously annotating every page as you browse.

What the security view can tell you

Third-party script reach

Modern pages commonly load analytics, payment, support, advertising, experimentation, and monitoring code. Archify can identify third-party scripts and show whether they can read sensitive fields. A script having access does not, by itself, prove that the value was transmitted or misused; it establishes a browser-side reachability fact that deserves review.

Outbound calls and APIs

By observing fetch and XMLHttpRequest activity, Archify can connect an interaction with calls made by the page. This helps answer whether a button triggers a request, which endpoint family is involved, and what other client-side APIs appear in the flow. It is still a runtime snapshot: calls that require a different path, role, feature flag, or timing may not appear until you exercise that path.

Hosting and client-side exposure

The Page Profile combines detected stack information with hosting-provider signals and client-side security exposure. Hosting headers are read through the page’s own origin, so the result should be understood as what that origin exposes rather than a universal infrastructure inventory.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Privacy on logged-in and sensitive pages

Because the inspection occurs locally, Archify can analyze a page that you are already authorized to view without uploading its contents to a hosted analysis service. The extension’s stated model is no account, no servers, and no telemetry, with the same-origin hosting-header request as the network exception.

  • What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.

Per-tab analysis is cleared when you navigate. A short-lived in-progress interaction trace can survive a redirect for up to 10 seconds, then is cleared when the tab closes or the browser session ends. This behavior limits how long observations persist, but it does not replace normal handling requirements for confidential systems.

  • Use it only on applications you are permitted to inspect.
  • Review Chrome’s displayed extension permissions before installation, especially on managed or regulated devices.
  • Do not paste credentials, tokens, or customer data into the page merely to create a test case.
  • Capture findings through your approved security process instead of copying sensitive values into notes.
  • Remember that local processing reduces exfiltration risk; it does not make an untrusted browser profile or compromised machine safe.

Accuracy: where Archify is strong and where it stops

Confidence is a feature, not decoration

Archify’s central promise is uncertainty disclosure. When runtime evidence supports only a component category, the extension reports that category and a confidence score. This is more honest than presenting a guessed source name as fact and gives you a way to distinguish a useful lead from a firm observation.

Production builds hide identity

Minification and bundling can remove readable component names. A production page may therefore reveal that an element behaves like a particular component type without exposing the original file or symbol name. If you need exact ownership, use the site’s source maps, repository, component documentation, or development build under an authorized workflow.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Library hints can be ambiguous

The repository notes that shadcn/ui may appear only as a low-confidence hint because the runtime evidence can be indistinguishable from the Radix primitives beneath it. In that situation, the result is best read as “this element resembles a pattern associated with these primitives,” not “the project definitely imports this named library.”

Performance claims need context

The listing says the extension is designed not to slow heavy applications and runs only when requested. That is a product-design claim, not an independently measured benchmark. On a particularly busy application, enable inspection only for the interaction you need and turn it off afterward.

How to compare Archify with other analysis approaches

The useful comparison is not simply extension versus extension. It is which evidence you need, where processing occurs, and how uncertainty is communicated.

Approach What it can establish Typical blind spot
Archify-style runtime inspection Framework clues, component behavior, API activity, third-party script reach, and confidence-scored observations from the loaded page. Exact names may disappear in minified builds; unvisited flows remain unobserved.
Technology-name detector Likely frameworks or services inferred from static signatures, headers, or asset names. Usually cannot explain which component handled an interaction or which script can read a particular field.
Hosted scanner Centralized reporting and repeatable scans when sending a page or URL to an external service is acceptable. May be unsuitable for authenticated or confidential pages and can hide how conclusions were reached.
Browser developer tools Detailed network, DOM, storage, performance, and JavaScript debugging controls. Requires manual correlation and may not provide a single confidence-scored architecture summary.

For a front-end engineer tracing one control, Archify’s hover workflow is faster than assembling the same evidence by hand. For a formal security assessment, pair runtime observations with code review, server-side controls, dependency review, and authorization testing; no browser overlay can prove the entire security posture.

Current maturity and what the numbers mean

The Chrome Web Store record shows version 0.2.1, 271 users, and a 5.0 score from five ratings, with the listing updated August 21, 2026. Those figures are useful context but a very small sample. Five ratings cannot establish stability across browsers, frameworks, enterprise policies, or complex single-page applications, and the listing itself warns that ratings may not reflect the newest reviews.

The open-source repository reported 42 stars and three forks at the time its metadata was captured. Repository counts change, so they should be treated as a snapshot rather than a permanent measure of project health. The Apache-2.0 license makes the code easier to inspect and reuse, but it does not guarantee a particular support response or release schedule.

Pricing and monetization

The official materials reviewed for the extension do not publish a subscription price, paid tier, commission rate, tracked referral URL, or affiliate program. That means there is no defensible cost comparison to make beyond the absence of a stated charge in those materials. Do not assume that a future hosted service, developer partnership, or commercial tier would share the same local-only behavior; verify any later product change against its own documentation.

Troubleshooting common inspection problems

The overlay does not appear

  • Reload the page after installing or updating the extension.
  • Confirm the inspector is enabled; hover inspection is off by default.
  • Check that Chrome has allowed the extension on the current site and that the tab is not a restricted browser page.
  • If you built from source, return to chrome://extensions, reload the unpacked extension, and reload the target tab.

The result shows only a generic type

This is expected on many minified production builds. Use the confidence score and component category as evidence, then consult an authorized development build or source map if an exact name matters.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A library appears with low confidence

Read it as a hypothesis. The repository specifically warns that shadcn/ui-like signals can be indistinguishable from underlying Radix primitives. Confirm the dependency in a permitted code or build inspection rather than treating the label as proof.

Expected network activity is missing

Exercise the exact interaction, wait for deferred requests, and check alternate states such as validation errors, logged-in roles, or feature flags. Archify observes what occurs in the current tab; it cannot report a path that never ran.

The page changes after a redirect

Per-tab analysis is cleared on navigation. A brief in-progress interaction trace may survive a redirect for up to 10 seconds, but a new page generally requires a fresh inspection.

Who should use Archify?

Good fit

  • Front-end developers identifying the framework or component behavior of an unfamiliar application.
  • Security and privacy teams checking which browser-side scripts can reach password or payment fields.
  • Technical writers, support engineers, and consultants who need a quick explanation of a live interface without requesting source access.
  • Teams that cannot send authenticated page contents to a hosted analyzer and prefer browser-local processing.

Use another method as well

  • When you need definitive source ownership, dependency versions, or complete architectural documentation.
  • When assessing server-side authorization, data storage, infrastructure configuration, or end-to-end compliance.
  • When a site’s framework is heavily customized and runtime evidence is too sparse to support a reliable conclusion.

Do not confuse Archify with other same-name services

Archify.ai, described elsewhere as a marketplace for ready-to-use digital products, and Archify AI, an architecture-focused rendering platform, are separate services. Neither is the Chrome extension associated with the Salah-XD repository. Check the product identity before installing software, evaluating privacy claims, or attributing features to the wrong company.

Final assessment

Archify is most compelling when you need a fast, local explanation of a live web app: hover an element, see the runtime clues, inspect the page profile, and check which third-party code can reach sensitive fields. Its confidence scores and refusal to fabricate exact names are stronger trust signals than an overly precise detector that cannot show its evidence.

Its limits are equally important. It cannot reliably recover source-level component names from every minified build, a low-confidence library hint is not a dependency proof, and on-demand runtime observation cannot replace a full code or security assessment. With those boundaries understood, Archify is a practical browser-side triage tool—particularly for authorized inspection of logged-in pages where local processing matters more than a polished hosted dashboard.
