Short answer: choose Renegade → Scoped for long-range ARC work, Burletta → Full Auto for close Raider fights, Rattler → More Reload → Drum Mag when sustained fire matters, and Hairpin → Semi-Auto + Sprint Shooting for an accurate run-and-gun build. For armor-heavy PvE targets, the reported X Rounds branch on Anvil, Bettina or Kettle is the specialist option. Amplification is not a blanket damage upgrade: it is a branching module system that changes how a Tier IV weapon behaves, and selecting one branch can prevent access to another.
Frozen Trail 2.0, released on October 8, 2026, added Amplified Weapons as ARC Raiders’ fifth quality tier. The update also introduced Pendola Pass, a new Outpost and Research Station progression, the Frigate and fallen Emperor endgame encounters. Amplified weapons are therefore tied to the expansion’s progression loop rather than being a drop-in rarity upgrade.

What an Amplified Weapon actually changes
Embark describes amplification as “kind of like the fifth quality level,” but with an important difference: the quality itself does not automatically add a fixed set of stats. Instead, it opens a branching path of modules that changes the weapon’s behavior. A module can alter firing mode, magazine capacity, reload behavior, projectile properties, mobility or information revealed by hits.

Scoped Renegade is powerful because it solves a range and target-acquisition problem, not because every shot receives a universal multiplier. Full-Auto Burletta gains close-range pressure while giving up some precision and headshot efficiency. Treat each path as a different weapon configuration.

The launch material reviewed for Frozen Trail identifies 15 weapons as amplification-capable, although Embark had not published the complete roster. Stiletto and Bantam were specifically reported as unavailable for amplification at launch. Exact material costs and some numerical perk values also remain unpublished or come from preview builds, so treat preview figures as reported values rather than guaranteed live-game constants.
Unlocking amplification: the complete route
You cannot apply a module to a newly found gun immediately. The practical route reported at launch requires Outpost development, a Tier IV weapon and a module whose rarity matches the weapon.
- Photograph the farmland house near Ruined Homestead on Blue Gate. This starts the Outpost-related progression objective reported for Frozen Trail.
- Complete the Outpost project objectives. The project chain is the gate to the new base infrastructure.
- Expand the Outpost to level 4. Lower levels do not provide the reported research capacity needed for amplification.
- Upgrade the Gunsmith to level 4. Weapon upgrades and the final application step use the Gunsmith interface.
- Upgrade the Research Station to level 4. The official support FAQ states that unlocking the Outpost unlocks the Research Station; you still need to improve the station to the level required by the practical launch route.
- Raise the weapon you intend to modify to Tier IV. Amplification is reported to support Tier IV weapons, not lower-tier copies.
- Obtain a matching-rarity Amplification Module. Modules have to match the weapon’s rarity. Reports place module drops in the Frigate and from the fallen Emperor on Pendola Pass.
- Open Gunsmith → Weapon Upgrades and select the branch. Choose the module node you want, confirm the material requirement shown in your client, and apply it to the eligible Tier IV weapon.
Plan the branch before confirming it. Independent path reporting says alternatives can be locked out after a choice. If you are undecided between a close-range Burletta and a burst-control Burletta, do not spend the module simply to test the first node; wait until you know which role you need.

Renegade → Scoped: the clearest ARC specialist
The Scoped Renegade is the safest recommendation when your priority is ARC at distance. Preview users specifically favored it for clearing flying ARC, where an optical sight makes small, moving targets easier to lead. It also suits players who hold long sightlines and prefer deliberate shots over constant repositioning.
The trade-off is close-range handling. Reports describe the build as weak inside about 30 metres, and the scoped setup can feel awkward when forced into hip-fire. Carry a secondary that handles room entries or be ready to disengage rather than treating the Renegade as an all-purpose primary. It is a role weapon: strongest when you can preserve distance and weakest when Raiders collapse on you.
For PvE, use the scope to remove aerial threats before they pressure your route. In PvP, select elevated or open angles where the optic’s advantage has time to matter. If most of your fights happen in buildings, alleys or extraction queues, the module’s opportunity cost is hard to justify.
Burletta → Full Auto: close Raider pressure
Full Auto changes the Burletta from a measured pistol into an automatic close-quarters weapon by increasing its fire rate. That gives you more immediate pressure when a Raider appears around a corner or pushes during an extraction fight.

The conversion is not a free upgrade. The reported behavior includes lower damage, a lower headshot multiplier, and much more recoil and dispersion. It rewards controlled bursts even though the trigger mode is automatic. Hold the weapon inside its practical range, aim for center mass when recoil is rising, and avoid wasting the magazine at targets beyond the distance where its spread becomes unreliable.
This is the best Burletta branch when your fights are decided in seconds at short range. It is a poor choice for players who rely on precise headshots or who want one pistol to cover medium-distance lanes.
Rattler → More Reload → Drum Mag: maximum sustained fire
The Rattler path is built around reducing interruptions. The More Reload node reportedly loads four rounds per cycle instead of two. The subsequent Drum Mag adds 40 rounds; combined with a Level IV base, the reported configuration reaches 64 rounds.
That capacity is valuable for solo pressure, extended ARC engagements and situations where stopping to reload exposes you. It also changes how you can contest a push: you can keep firing while a teammate rotates or while an ARC wave crosses an open route.

The path reportedly increases recoil and shot dispersion and slows aim-down-sights. A 64-round magazine is only useful if you can keep enough of those rounds on target. Fire in controlled strings at distance, and reserve the full magazine for close or medium engagements where the extra rounds compensate for imperfect accuracy.
Because the branch sequence consumes materials and may lock out alternatives, confirm in the Gunsmith whether your client allows the later nodes you want before selecting More Reload. The 64-round figure comes from preview reporting and should not be assumed to be an immutable live value.
Hairpin branches: mobility, rate of fire or information
Semi-Auto + Sprint Shooting
This is the high-skill run-and-gun route. Semi-Auto raises the Hairpin’s fire rate, while Sprint Shooting lets you fire while running. Together they suit players who keep moving through cover, strafe during Raider duels and do not want to stop to take every shot.

The reported cost is a lower headshot multiplier and more per-shot dispersion from Semi-Auto. You gain tempo and mobility but lose some precision efficiency. Use short strings, begin firing before the final strafe and keep enough distance to make the dispersion manageable.
Tracker Rounds
Tracker Rounds serve a different purpose: a hit reveals the target for five seconds in the reported preview behavior. That information can be more valuable than raw damage when a Raider breaks line of sight, moves through foliage or tries to disengage during an extraction.
Choose Tracker Rounds when your squad can exploit information immediately. Solo players still gain value, but only if they can convert the reveal into a follow-up angle. This node is mutually competitive with the mobility-focused route, so decide whether your limitation is target awareness or movement before spending the module.
Incendiary Rounds
Incendiary Rounds are listed among Hairpin’s branches, but the independent path report notes that selecting them locks out the other Hairpin amplifications. That makes them a commitment rather than a casual add-on. Choose them only when their damage-over-time behavior fits your planned encounters and you are willing to abandon Semi-Auto, Sprint Shooting or Tracker Rounds on that weapon.
Burletta → Burst Fire: controlled volume
Burst Fire adds projectiles per burst and can add magazine rounds on the next node, according to the launch path list. It occupies the middle ground between the precision of the base pistol and the recoil-heavy Full Auto conversion.

Burst timing, cover use and target selection still matter. This path is worth considering when you want more close-to-medium range volume without accepting the full recoil and dispersion reported for Full Auto.
X Rounds for armor-focused PvE
The launch guide recommends X Rounds on Anvil, Bettina or Kettle when your priority is armor plating. The branch is aimed at a specific PvE problem: targets that absorb ordinary fire until their armor is removed.

Do not treat the recommendation as a universal damage ranking. Exact numerical bonuses were not fully documented, and the available evidence combines guide reporting with limited hands-on testing. Verify the current tooltip in your build, then compare the armor benefit with alternatives such as Anvil Splitter or Kettle’s Anti-Shield branch.

This is the confirmed branch inventory reported in the reviewed launch coverage, not a guarantee that it is the complete 15-weapon roster. The full list had not been published in the material available at launch, and branches can change as Frozen Trail is updated.
Choosing a path without wasting a module
- Start with the target. Pick ARC-clearing optics for Renegade, armor interaction for X Rounds, or Raider pressure for Full Auto Burletta.
- Define your normal distance. Scoped Renegade and Straight Bolt Jupiter need sightlines; Full Auto Burletta and Sprint Shooting Hairpin need closer, faster engagements.
- Measure your recoil tolerance. Rattler Drum Mag and Full Auto Burletta increase the value of sustained trigger control, not just ammunition capacity.
- Decide whether information beats damage. Tracker Rounds can reveal a target for five seconds, which may win a chase even when it does not increase your sheet damage.
- Check branch lock-outs first. Read every node in Gunsmith → Weapon Upgrades before confirming the first module.
- Use the weapon you can replace. Amplified weapons are costly to repair and risky to lose; do not commit your only copy until you are comfortable with the role.
Durability, repair and the cost of commitment
Reported launch behavior makes death particularly punishing for amplified equipment: a looted amplified weapon can drop to 10% durability when its owner dies. That creates a practical distinction between a weapon you carry for a planned objective and one you bring into an uncertain extraction.
Amplified Fragments are reported to repair amplified weapons. Older Anvil Splitters can be recycled into fragments, giving owners a way to recover some value from obsolete materials. Because exact amplification costs are not public, keep a reserve of fragments and do not assume that one successful module application is the end of the expense.
Repair before a high-risk run, especially after recovering an amplified gun from another player. A nearly broken weapon can fail at the worst moment, and its special behavior does not compensate for low durability if you cannot finish the engagement.
Common mistakes and fixes
Trying to amplify a weapon below Tier IV
Raise the chosen copy to Tier IV first. If the upgrade screen does not show an eligible node, confirm the tier before farming more modules.
Using the wrong module rarity
A module must match the weapon’s rarity. Check both items in the Gunsmith before assuming that a missing option is a bug.

Expecting a universal stat increase
Amplification changes behavior through branches. If the weapon feels worse after the upgrade, examine the recoil, dispersion, ADS or headshot changes attached to that path instead of judging it as a failed rarity upgrade.
Locking out the preferred branch
Some choices prevent alternatives. Preview the full branch and decide whether you need mobility, tracking, magazine capacity or elemental effects before spending the module.
Taking a specialist weapon into the wrong fight
Scoped Renegade is not a substitute for a close-range weapon, and Full Auto Burletta is not a long-range rifle. Build a complementary loadout or change the amplified path on a different copy.
Relying on preview numbers as permanent values
Figures such as the Rattler’s reported 64-round Level IV configuration and Hairpin’s five-second Tracker reveal come from preview or launch reporting. Read the live tooltip and patch notes when making a final investment.
What is still not established
Launch coverage does not provide a complete public list of all 15 supported weapons, a universal price sheet for every amplification node or definitive live values for every perk. That uncertainty is important when planning a long farming session. The Outpost, Research Station, Gunsmith and Tier IV requirements are clear, but the amount and recurrence of materials can vary with later patches.
The safest approach is to select a path whose benefit you can evaluate immediately: scope for a known long-range problem, automatic fire for a known close-range problem, magazine capacity for a known reload problem, or X Rounds for a known armor problem. Avoid spending rare modules on a hypothetical build until the in-game tooltip confirms its current behavior.
Verdict
There is no single universal Frozen Trail tier list because the system is designed around different weapon behaviors and branch trade-offs. Scoped Renegade is the strongest general recommendation for ARC and flying targets at range; Full Auto Burletta is the direct answer for close Raider pressure; Rattler More Reload into Drum Mag is the sustained-fire choice; and Hairpin Semi-Auto with Sprint Shooting is the mobility route for players who can control its reduced precision. Use X Rounds when armor is the encounter that is actually stopping your squad. Unlock the Outpost infrastructure first, match module rarity, reach Tier IV, and inspect the branch lock-outs before you commit.
