It currently covers 15 launch weapons and changes how selected guns behave through branching upgrades rather than simply adding damage. Embark has confirmed a fully automatic Burletta, a scoped Renegade, and a Rattler with incendiary ammunition and a 64-round magazine. The complete compatibility list, material requirements, and per-branch prices are not published in the official launch material, so the live Research Workstation is the authority before you commit resources.
What weapon amplification is in ARC Raiders
Amplification is an endgame progression system introduced with the Frozen Trail update on October 8, 2026. It adds a fifth quality level to certain weapons after you complete the required Outpost progression. This is not an ordinary attachment slot and it is not a universal damage upgrade. Instead, each supported weapon can receive a special ability or handling change, usually through a choice between different branches.

Embark says the system is intended for players who repeatedly rely on a few favorite guns while leaving much of the arsenal unused. Amplification lets those familiar weapons take on a different role. A sidearm can become a sustained-fire weapon, a rifle can gain an optic, or a magazine and ammunition change can alter how long you can stay in a fight. The practical result is a new weapon profile, not a guaranteed improvement in every situation.

The fifth tier is applied from the Outpost Research Workstation. Because the change is tied to progression and a branch selection, it should be treated as a long-term loadout decision. Read the complete confirmation screen, including any handling or ammunition notes, before spending materials.

How to unlock weapon amplification
Meet the confirmed prerequisite
Embark’s stated requirement is a fully upgraded Research Workstation in the Outpost. The Frozen Trail notes also introduce the Outpost Research Bench as part of the new feature set. The official pages do not publish a complete list of station-upgrade materials or a separate account-level requirement.
If the amplification option is missing, first check that the workstation itself has reached its maximum level. A weapon being high quality, frequently used, or already fitted with attachments does not replace that station requirement.
Use the workstation rather than a normal gunsmith menu
- Travel to your Outpost after the Frozen Trail update is installed.
- Open the fully upgraded Research Workstation or the amplification entry shown there.
- Select a weapon that the station lists as eligible. The official launch announcement confirms 15 eligible weapons at release, but it does not show all 15 names in its public preview.
- Read each available branch. Record the firing mode, ammunition, magazine, optic, reload, movement, and accuracy changes rather than looking only for a damage number.
- Check the displayed material requirements on the live confirmation screen.
- Choose the branch only after deciding whether the modified gun fits your intended Raider or ARC encounters, and then confirm the upgrade.
Menu names and costs can change with balance updates. If your client presents a different label or an additional prerequisite, follow the current in-game screen over an older guide.
Which weapons can be amplified?
Embark confirms 15 weapons at launch, with more planned, but its official preview names only three examples. That means a complete, definitive compatibility table cannot be established from the launch announcement alone. The table below separates what Embark explicitly demonstrated from effects reported by community references.
Effects directly demonstrated by Embark
| Weapon | Confirmed amplification example | What changes in practice |
|---|---|---|
| Burletta | Fully automatic fire | Holding the trigger produces continuous fire instead of the original trigger rhythm. This favors close-range pressure but can increase ammunition use and make recoil management more important. |
| Renegade | Scope | An optic supports more deliberate ranged aiming. Its value depends on sight picture, engagement distance, and whether the added precision outweighs any close-range handling trade-off shown in the tooltip. |
| Rattler | Incendiary bullets and a 64-round magazine | Fire damage and a substantially larger magazine change both target pressure and time between reloads. The 64-round figure is Embark’s announced example, not a promise that every Rattler configuration has that capacity. |
These examples establish the type of transformation the system can provide, but they do not establish a universal pattern for every weapon. A weapon may receive a fire-mode conversion, ammunition change, optic, reload adjustment, mobility feature, or another ability instead.

Additional paths reported by community references
A community-maintained wiki reports further possibilities, including anti-weak-point or projectile-splitting choices for Anvil; semi-automatic Hairpin; burst-fire Burletta; fully automatic Kettle or Burletta; reload changes; sprint shooting for several weapons; a carbine conversion for Canto; and scopes for Renegade and Jupiter. These reports are useful leads, not an official launch matrix. Weapon names, branch availability, and effects should be checked against the tooltip in your own Research Workstation.
| Reported weapon or path | Community-reported effect | How to treat it |
|---|---|---|
| Anvil | Anti-weak-point or projectile-splitting choices | Secondary-source report; verify the exact branch and wording in-game. |
| Hairpin | Semi-automatic conversion | Secondary-source report; confirm rate of fire and any accuracy changes. |
| Burletta | Burst-fire path in addition to the officially shown full-auto example | Secondary-source report; do not assume both branches appear on every build. |
| Kettle | Full-auto conversion | Secondary-source report; check ammunition consumption and recoil details. |
| Canto | Carbine conversion | Secondary-source report; inspect the resulting range and handling values. |
| Jupiter and some other weapons | Scope or sprint-shooting options | Secondary-source report; the complete weapon list remains unstated officially. |
What amplification does to weapon performance
Firing-mode conversions
Changing semi-automatic, burst, or automatic fire changes the timing of every engagement. Automatic fire can improve close-range follow-up shots, but it may consume a magazine faster, amplify recoil, and make missed shots more expensive. A burst conversion can provide a controllable rhythm while reducing the ability to hold a target under continuous pressure. Compare the new mode with your trigger discipline and the ranges at which you normally fight.

Optics and accuracy
A scope is not a simple damage multiplier. It can make weak-point targeting and distant shots easier, while a magnified sight may feel slower in cramped spaces. Check whether the branch changes aim speed, view behavior, recoil, or hip-fire handling. The Renegade scope is officially confirmed; the reported Jupiter scope remains subject to in-game confirmation.
Ammunition and magazine changes
The Rattler example combines incendiary bullets with a 64-round magazine, so it changes both damage behavior and uptime. A larger magazine can reduce reload exposure, but it may also affect handling or reserve-ammunition efficiency if the tooltip says so. Incendiary effects should be evaluated against the target you intend to fight, not assumed to be equally valuable against Raiders and ARC machines.
Reload, movement, and utility branches
Reported reload changes can alter the safest moment to disengage, while reported sprint-shooting paths may help aggressive rotations or evasive movement. These benefits are highly dependent on your playstyle and encounter space. A mobility option that is excellent for player-versus-player pressure may provide less value when you are holding a fixed angle against an ARC target.

What does weapon amplification cost?
No complete official material list or per-weapon amplification price was included in Embark’s preview or Frozen Trail launch notes. A guide updated October 11, 2026, says it is still filling in tooltip numbers and research costs. Consequently, there is no reliable universal price table to reproduce here.
Use the live workstation to inspect each branch before committing:
- Open the exact weapon and branch you intend to select.
- Read every listed material, quantity, and station requirement.
- Check whether the displayed cost is for unlocking the branch, upgrading the weapon to the fifth tier, or both.
- Confirm that the screen reflects your current inventory and not a preview of a different branch.
- Capture the confirmation details for your own records if you are deciding between expensive alternatives.
Do not transfer a cost from one weapon to another. Different branches can require different inputs, and numbers may change in a balance patch. If an external guide gives a price that conflicts with your screen, use the current in-game value.
Can you undo an amplification?
A community wiki reports that amplification cannot be reverted and also reports level-four requirements for the Outpost, Gunsmith, and Research Stations. The official pages reviewed for the Frozen Trail launch do not confirm either detail. Treat irreversibility as a serious possibility, but verify the final confirmation prompt in your client before selecting a branch.
If the screen says the choice is permanent, decide as though there is no respec option. Apply the branch to the weapon you actually intend to keep using, and compare the modified role with an unamplified copy or another weapon before spending rare materials. If the game offers a preview, use it to inspect the resulting fire mode, magazine, optic, and handling information.

How to choose the right branch
Use this decision sequence instead of selecting the branch with the most dramatic description:
- Define the target. Decide whether the weapon is primarily for Raiders, ARC machines, player-versus-player encounters, or mixed runs.
- Identify the new role. Write down whether the branch turns the weapon into a close-range automatic gun, a precision rifle, a sustained-fire platform, or a utility option.
- Check the whole handling profile. Review recoil, accuracy, aim behavior, movement, reload time, firing mode, magazine size, and ammunition effects.
- Match the role to your squad. A larger magazine may complement teammates who create openings, while an optic may be more useful when your group lacks ranged coverage.
- Price the opportunity cost. Compare the branch’s materials with the value of upgrading another weapon or station.
- Confirm permanence. If the prompt warns that the selection cannot be reversed, make the decision only after checking every tooltip line.
This approach also prevents a common mistake: assuming that amplification is automatically best for the weapon you already use most. A familiar gun may become less comfortable after an automatic conversion, a scope, or an ammunition change.
Common problems and fixes
The amplification option is not visible
Verify that the Outpost Research Workstation is fully upgraded and that the Frozen Trail update is installed. If the station is not at its maximum level, the fifth-tier option may not appear. Restarting the game can refresh a newly completed station upgrade, but do not spend materials until the workstation displays the eligible weapon and branch.
Your weapon is not listed
The launch feature covers 15 weapons, not the entire arsenal. The official preview does not name all 15, and additional weapons are planned. An unlisted gun is not proof that your account is missing content; it may simply be outside the current compatibility set.
A guide’s cost or effect differs from your screen
Use your client’s tooltip. Community guides can be incomplete, and the October 11 cost guide explicitly notes that some numbers were still being filled in. Balance updates can also change branch behavior after a guide is published.

You expected a damage buff but received a handling change
Amplification is designed around branching abilities and personalization. Re-read the branch description and evaluate the new role, ammunition, firing mode, and handling rather than looking for a single increased damage statistic.
Frozen Trail timing and future changes
Amplified Weapons and the Outpost Research Bench arrived with the Frozen Trail update on October 8, 2026. The launch scope is 15 weapons, and Embark says more are planned. Because the system is new, costs, branch availability, and balance details can change. The date matters when comparing screenshots or guides: a cost or tooltip published soon after launch may not match a later client.
For the most current decision, trust the combination of the latest patch notes and the confirmation screen in your fully upgraded Research Workstation. Official material currently establishes the system’s fifth-tier structure, station access, 15-weapon launch scope, and the Burletta, Renegade, and Rattler examples; it does not establish a complete compatibility matrix or universal cost list.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesPractical checklist before you commit
- Is the Outpost Research Workstation fully upgraded?
- Is the weapon shown as eligible in the current client?
- What exact firing mode, ammunition, magazine, optic, reload, and movement changes does the branch make?
- Does the new role fit your Raider, ARC, PvP, or PvE use?
- Are the displayed materials available after accounting for other planned upgrades?
- Does the confirmation screen say the choice is permanent?
- Are you relying on an official tooltip or on an unverified community report?
Answering those questions gives you a defensible choice even while the launch roster and economy continue to evolve.
