What Scalr is

Scalr is an infrastructure-as-code platform for platform teams that want a standardized way to let developers manage infrastructure through self-service. It supports Terraform and OpenTofu workspaces and runs, with execution on Scalr-managed or self-hosted agents. Teams can use GitOps workflows that apply changes before merge, accept pull request slash commands, post run summaries to pull requests, and protect state based on branches. Scalr detects drift in Terraform and OpenTofu workspaces and provides drift dashboards. For governance, it supports policy-as-code checks using Open Policy Agent and Checkov, as well as role-based access controls. Its integration catalog includes tools and services such as Backstage, Datadog, Infracost, Microsoft Teams, Slack, Okta, Terragrunt, VS Code, version control providers, and webhooks. Scalr says it is SOC 2 Type II attested, encrypts data at rest and in transit, and performs third-party penetration testing at least annually. The Business plan is free for up to 50 runs per month; additional business usage costs $0.99 per run, with volume discounts. Enterprise is quote-based and starts at 20,000 runs per year. It adds a Technical Account Manager, shared Slack channel support, and higher dedicated CPU and memory resources. Scalr was founded in 2011.
