Instead of mkpsxiso
mkpsxiso alternatives
mkpsxiso is built for PlayStation CD image creation: an XML document defines the contents, and file order controls LBA placement. It supports mixed-mode CD-XA streams, including XA audio and STR video, and can source CDDA tracks from WAV, FLAC, PCM, or MP3 files. The output is .bin/.cue or .iso images for use in an emulator or for burning. Its companion dumpsxiso extracts disc images and can generate XML for rebuilding, while the free project runs on Linux, macOS, and Windows.

Look elsewhere if you need a general-purpose disc workflow, physical burning, or tools for media other than PlayStation images. mkpsxiso itself does not burn discs, and its license-data injection requires you to supply your own copy. Its documented limitations include a date constraint that can prevent some 1:1 rebuilds on ext4 and xfs, plus a Windows directory-browsing issue with certain nested structures. Compare alternatives by their image and filesystem formats, platform support, and whether they create, extract, verify, or burn discs; these distinctions matter more than a broad feature count when choosing a replacement.
