Jack The Butler

Purpose: Jack is an open-source AI concierge that handles hotel and hospitality guest communication across messaging channels.
Inbox: Its unified inbox supports WhatsApp, SMS, email, and web chat.
AI providers: Jack supports Anthropic Claude, OpenAI GPT, Ollama, and built-in local AI models.
Guest handling: Jack can answer routine requests automatically and route complex issues to staff with context.
Knowledge base: The knowledge base can be trained on property information for guest responses.
Integrations: WhatsApp connects through WhatsApp Business API, SMS through Twilio, and property email through SMTP/IMAP.
Data control: Jack is self-hosted, and its documentation says guest data stays on the property's server.
Offline AI: Local AI runs on the server without API costs and can work offline, though its responses are simpler and it requires about 2 GB of RAM for models.
Costs: The maker estimates hosting at about $5–10 per month for production and AI API use at about $5–20 per month, while local AI has no API cost.
Deployment: The maker documents one-click cloud deployment and Docker installation, and the repository lists Mac, Windows, and Linux Docker options.
API: Jack provides a REST API for conversations, guests, tasks, knowledge-base entries, staff, and settings.
API limit: The documented API rate limits are 100 standard requests per minute and 10 bulk-operation requests per minute.
Audience: The product documentation names hotels, vacation rentals, hostels, and property managers as intended users.
