Instead of FishNet
FishNet alternatives
FishNet is a free Unity networking solution with a server-authoritative model, dedicated-server support, and the option for players to host. Its high-level API synchronizes state, logic, and objects, while built-in client-side prediction and Addressables support cover common game networking needs. Developers can choose a host and FishNet says it has no CCU caps or paywalls; FishNet Pro adds lag compensation and automatic code stripping for $50 once.

Mirror Networking
Free plan AndroidiPhoneLinux+3Unity projects needing built-in transport choices — Mirror offers multiple built-in transports, including encryption and Edgegap Relay, while FishNet emphasizes flexible hosting and built-in prediction.
- 2
Netick
Free plan AndroidiPhoneLinux+3Unity games needing replay and rollback prediction — Netick adds a built-in full-game replay system and prediction with reconciliation, while FishNet offers Addressables support and broad hosting choice.
- 3
Normcore
Free plan AndroidiPhoneLinux+4Unity projects centered on voice, XR, and persistent spaces — Normcore bundles networked physics, voice, persistent spaces, and managed global servers, unlike FishNet’s host-choice approach.
- 4
Photon Fusion
Free plan AndroidiPhoneLinux+4Games needing multiple engines and network topologies — Photon Fusion supports Unity, Unreal, and Godot plus shared authority, while FishNet focuses on Unity and server-authoritative networking.
- 5
Photon Quantum
Free plan AndroidiPhoneLinux+3Unity games built around deterministic simulation and rollback — Photon Quantum uses deterministic ECS simulation, input exchange, and rollback, rather than FishNet’s general-purpose networking API.
- 6
Photon Realtime
Free plan AndroidAPIiPhone+5Cross-platform games needing cloud matchmaking and rooms — Photon Realtime is cloud-hosted and provides matchmaking, room rejoin, and persistence options, while FishNet lets users choose hosts.

The right alternative depends on which trade-offs matter more than that hosting flexibility. FishNet’s prediction collider components currently support only primitive shapes, and communication is unencrypted by default unless DTLS or TLS is enabled. Its published platform support spans Unity targets including consoles, while several alternatives also name other engines or provide hosted infrastructure, matchmaking, voice, or replay tools. Compare those capabilities with deployment choices, pricing, and the networking model you need: a cloud-hosted service, a different simulation approach, or a Unity-focused SDK may suit your project better.
