Apple has not confirmed an October 13 event. Bloomberg reporting summarized by 9to5Mac says the company plans to introduce a long-rumored smart-home hub on that date, but it does not establish whether Apple will hold a formal event, publish a video, or announce products on its website. The rumored hub is the likely centerpiece, with a refreshed HomePod mini and Apple TV 4K also reported.

Will Apple hold an October 13 event?

That remains unconfirmed. A September 30, 2026 report by 9to5Mac, summarizing Bloomberg’s reporting, attributes an October 13 product introduction plan to Apple. A follow-up 9to5Mac report on October 2 notes that the reporting does not say whether this will be a public keynote or another announcement format. Until Apple confirms it, October 13 is a reported product date—not a scheduled Apple event readers can treat as official.

What products are reportedly coming?

A display-equipped Apple smart-home hub

The central rumor is a screen-equipped device for controlling the home and handling media or communication. The reports describe a speaker and a software experience centered on Siri, blending elements associated with Apple’s operating systems. These are reported features, not Apple specifications.

Even the screen size is unsettled: 9to5Mac’s account says 6 inches, while MacRumors’ September 30 roundup describes a 7-inch display. MacRumors characterizes the design as all-display and iPad-like; 9to5Mac says it draws inspiration from the iMac G4. Both accounts describe possible tabletop and wall-mounted versions, though design details remain unverified. The responsible expectation is a rumored Apple home display, not a settled set of dimensions or configurations.

Refreshed HomePod mini and Apple TV 4K

MacRumors also reports a possible updated HomePod mini and new Apple TV 4K, with networking and processor changes among the rumored updates. Apple has not verified those specifications in the reviewed official sources. Pricing, release availability, and regional timing have not been established by the cited reports.

What Apple Home can do today

A new display is not required to set up an Apple smart home. Apple’s Home app overview says a HomePod, HomePod mini, or Apple TV can act as a home hub, enabling remote access to accessories and automations. The Home app covers categories such as lighting, security, climate, and entry. Apple also identifies Matter as a way to connect more compatible accessories across platforms; that does not mean every Matter product or feature works identically, so check the specific accessory model.

Apple’s HomePod mini product page describes a compact speaker with Siri, 360-degree audio, and Apple-device integration. It is a current option for people who want a speaker and Apple home control, but it is not equivalent to the rumored display hub.

There is also a specific software-and-accessory example in Apple’s September 2025 iOS 26 feature documentation: a thermostat feature requires a home hub such as Apple TV or HomePod and a compatible Matter thermostat. That example has those stated prerequisites; it should not be read as blanket certification for all Matter accessories or features.

Should you wait for the rumored hub?

The useful distinction is between an established option and an unannounced product. Apple documents the HomePod mini and Apple TV as home hubs now. The rumored display could add a more visual, room-based way to interact with Siri and control accessories, but its full capabilities are not confirmed.

  • Consider an existing HomePod mini if you want a compact Siri speaker and Apple home control without waiting for an unannounced device.
  • Consider Apple TV as a hub if it already fits your home setup; Apple lists it among the devices that can serve that role.
  • Wait for official details if a built-in display or a particular mounting style is central to your decision. Neither screen size nor final design has been confirmed.
