The Boba Teashop: Refill is a first-person psychological-horror game from Serafini Productions and Mike Ten, creator of the original The Boba Teashop. It was revealed as a world premiere during Insider Gaming’s 28 Games Later: A Horror Showcase on October 1, 2026, an event featuring 28 games and five world premieres.
What is The Boba Teashop: Refill?
Refill follows Maya, a young woman under financial pressure who accepts a job at a newly opened branch of Risa’s boba teashop. The premise begins as a service job: take orders, prepare tea, milk, boba and other ingredients, seal the drinks, serve customers and clean the shop.

That routine becomes increasingly oppressive. Customer reviews, managerial scrutiny from Vanessa, uncomfortable conversations, unexplained noises and strange encounters gradually undermine Maya’s sense of safety. The announced setting includes the customer area, preparation counter, office, storage room, corridors, bathroom, rear exit and parking area. Changes in lighting and sound, along with Maya’s worsening perception, turn familiar workplace spaces into sources of psychological horror.

The developers’ short pitch captures the intended loop: “Your shift starts like any other.” It continues: “Take the order. Make the drink. Keep the customer happy. Try not to make mistakes.” Those are developer statements about the design, not findings from an independent hands-on test.

How it connects to the original game
The developers describe Refill as a standalone story set in the world established by the first game. It has a new protagonist, a new location and its own narrative, while the new branch remains connected to Risa’s teashop. In an interview with Insider Gaming, the developers said newcomers do not need to know the original game to enjoy this one.
| Aspect | The Boba Teashop: Refill | Relationship to the original |
|---|---|---|
| Protagonist | Maya | New protagonist |
| Location | A newly opened Risa branch | New workplace within the established world |
| Story | A standalone narrative about Maya’s week of shifts | Designed to work without prior knowledge |
| Presentation described by developers | Full voice acting, facial animation and more elaborate cinematics | Production expansion identified in the interview |
What the announced structure looks like
The interview says the story takes place across one week. Players are meant to learn the shop’s procedures before those procedures become unreliable. The developers identify the balance between work simulation and horror as a central design challenge: the job must feel understandable enough to establish a routine, but unstable enough that players stop trusting the environment.

Several creators associated with the original game are expected to appear as customers. The announcement and interview name Yotobi, Knite, Suzi Hunter—known as The Sphere Hunter—and Kodomo. The interview says some creators provide voices for their in-game counterparts.
Why this announcement matters
Refill uses an ordinary service job as the horror system rather than treating the shop as a simple backdrop. Accuracy, customer satisfaction and managerial oversight are part of the pressure, while the physical workplace expands beyond the counter into offices, corridors, storage areas and exterior spaces. That combination gives the announced game a clear identity: a work-simulation routine that gradually becomes psychologically untrustworthy.

Bottom line for newcomers
The Boba Teashop: Refill is intended to be an accessible entry point rather than a sequel that requires homework. Its announced hook is the contrast between precise drink-making and a workplace that becomes threatening over successive shifts. Until release information and hands-on evaluations arrive, the safest description is a promising psychological-horror announcement—not a finished assessment of how well that formula plays.
