Apple has seeded the first release candidates (RCs) of macOS Sequoia 15.8.2 and macOS Tahoe 26.7.2 to developers, according to a report published October 6, 2026. The reported builds are 24H219 for Sequoia and 25G320 for Tahoe. These are pre-release developer builds—not confirmation that either update is available to the public.
What the two macOS RCs contain
Apple’s release-note wording, quoted by 9to5Mac’s October 6 report, says the updates “provide[s] important security fixes and [are] recommended for all users.” The report does not identify specific vulnerabilities, affected components, CVEs, or exploit status for either candidate. A separate Apple security advisory would be needed to establish those details.

The announcement is notable because Apple moved directly to RCs for these point updates without first releasing regular beta versions, the report says. An RC is a candidate build for testing before a public release; it should not be treated as a final update already offered to all Mac users.

How to check or install a developer RC
Apple’s macOS Release Notes page is its general source for developer-facing release notes. The announcement does not specify the exact enrollment or installation steps for these RCs, so avoid assuming a particular menu path or that the candidate will appear on every Mac.
- Confirm whether the test Mac is running Sequoia 15 or Tahoe 26, then match it to the corresponding candidate and build number above.
- Check Apple’s current developer documentation and the Mac’s available beta update channel for the applicable instructions. The report does not establish model eligibility or provide an installation procedure.
- After installation, verify the installed version in About This Mac. Apple says clicking the macOS version there displays the full version number.
When could the public updates arrive?
The 9to5Mac report notes that the preceding macOS 15.8.1 and 26.7.1 updates each had two RCs before public rollout. It forecasts that 15.8.2 and 26.7.2 may ship alongside macOS 27.2 in the following weeks, but Apple had not confirmed that timing in the cited report. The final public release date and the eventual security-advisory details are not established there.

The report also mentions a CoreGraphics issue discussed with the previous month’s updates, including a description involving maliciously crafted files and targeted exploitation on versions of iOS before iOS 27. That is context about earlier updates and iOS, not evidence of a newly disclosed flaw fixed by these macOS RCs.
