Apple Music’s synced cloud library can hold up to 100,000 songs. Songs and music videos purchased from the iTunes Store are excluded from that count, and each file must be no larger than 200 MB. This is a limit on your personal synced library—not on Apple Music’s streaming catalog or on music stored only on one device.
What does Apple’s 100,000-song limit cover?
Apple Support describes the allowance as the capacity of the cloud music library that Sync Library makes available across your devices. Its guide states: “Up to 100,000 songs, not including songs (or music videos) purchased from the iTunes Store; files can be no larger than 200 MB.” Apple Support: Access your music library on all your devices

The number is not a cap on how many tracks Apple offers to stream. It applies to the personal library you sync through Apple Music. A library kept only on a device is a separate case; the support page does not define a corresponding local-device song limit.

Which items count toward the limit?
- iTunes Store purchases: Songs and music videos purchased from the iTunes Store are excluded from the stated 100,000-song count.
- Other files: Apple sets a maximum file size of 200 MB.
- Matched and uploaded tracks: Apple says matched songs are made available at iTunes Plus quality—256 kbps DRM-free AAC—while other songs are kept at their original quality.
- Other library content: Apple lists purchased music videos, playlists, and Smart Playlist rules among cloud-library content, but its guide does not specify precisely how non-song items relate to the 100,000-song count.
How do you use the library across devices?
Apple’s Windows guide says Sync Library requires an Apple Music subscription. Sign in to the same Apple Account on each device and turn on Sync Library. Once synced, you can also download music for offline listening. Apple Music availability varies by country or region.

Does the limit apply to music downloaded for offline listening?
The 100,000 figure is for the synced cloud library, not a stated cap on the number of tracks stored locally on a device. Apple’s guide says music can be downloaded for offline listening, but does not give a separate local-download song limit.
