As of 7 October 2026, Apple has announced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, but not the standard iPhone 18. Reports point to a possible spring 2027 launch in India and a price above ₹1 lakh; neither is confirmed. The standard model’s reported display, chip, cameras and battery should also be treated as rumors, not final specifications.
Is the standard iPhone 18 officially announced?
No. Apple’s 9 September 2026 announcement covers the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, not the standard iPhone 18. Apple’s India newsroom archive likewise does not establish an announcement for the standard model in the sources reviewed. Until Apple announces it, the standard phone’s launch date, India price and hardware remain unconfirmed.

Apple says the Pro models have a smaller Dynamic Island, A20 Pro chip and next-generation vapour chamber. Those are confirmed Pro-line details, not specifications for the standard iPhone 18. Apple’s announcement describes those two models as having features that “together deliver the highest sustained performance in iPhone history.” Apple’s announcement also says Pro preorders in India and other regions begin 12 September, with availability from 18 September.

Digit’s 7 October report says the standard iPhone 18 could launch globally, including in India, in spring 2027—possibly in March or April. A 23 September Digit roundup also gives March or April 2027 as a possible window, alongside the iPhone Air 2 and iPhone 18e. These reports describe an expectation, not an Apple-confirmed schedule; the second report is corroborating coverage, not official confirmation.

What might the iPhone 18 cost in India?
The only specific price suggestion in these reports is that the standard iPhone 18 could cost more than ₹1 lakh in India. Digit compares that possibility with its stated ₹99,900 India price for the iPhone 17. Apple has not announced an iPhone 18 price, and the reporting does not provide a more reliable exact estimate. Treat “above ₹1 lakh” as a leak-based projection, not a confirmed starting price.
What specs are rumored for the standard iPhone 18?
Digit’s 7 October report gives the following possible specifications. None has been confirmed by Apple for the standard model.

How to read the leaks before deciding whether to wait
- Timing: Spring 2027, possibly March or April, is a reported window. There is no confirmed standard-model launch date.
- Price: More than ₹1 lakh is the reported suggestion; Apple has not set or published the standard model’s India price.
- Hardware: The display, A20 chip, memory, battery and camera details above remain unconfirmed.
- Pro versus standard: Apple’s A20 Pro, smaller Dynamic Island, vapour chamber, variable-aperture 48MP Fusion Main camera and Pro availability dates apply to iPhone 18 Pro models. They should not be assumed for the standard iPhone 18.
If you need a phone on a known schedule, the standard iPhone 18 is not yet a dependable option to plan around: Apple has not announced its availability, price or final hardware. If you can wait, treat the reported spring 2027 window and leaked specifications as provisional until Apple publishes standard-model details.
