Members of a Taiwan union representing Micron Technology workers have authorized strike action over the company’s bonus scheme, according to a Reuters report dated October 7, 2026. The union said the timing and other details were still under discussion; the report does not say that workers have walked out or that a strike date has been set.
What the union’s authorization means
The announcement is authorization for possible strike action, not confirmation that a strike has begun. Reuters reported that the union was still discussing when and how action might take place, and did not provide a strike date, vote tally, or list of participating facilities. Reuters, October 7, 2026

What the bonus dispute is about
In September, Micron announced a one-time reward package for employees in Taiwan. The union rejected the package and called instead for an ongoing profit-sharing arrangement under which employees would receive 15% of the company’s operating profits. That figure is the union’s proposed share, not an agreed compensation formula. Focus Taiwan/CNA, 2026
Union head Lin Che-jui said discussions over the bonus dispute continued, but the reward package had been proposed unilaterally without union agreement. Micron characterized the year as an “extraordinary year,” as relayed by Reuters; that is the company’s description, not an independent assessment. Reuters, October 7, 2026

What happened before the authorization
Before the October 7 announcement, Taiwan News reported that mediation had ended without agreement and that the Taoyuan union planned a strike vote in early October. The later Reuters report says members authorized strike action, but does not give the tally or say when any action would occur. Taiwan News
