What has been delayed?
The schedule change concerns the standard, or base, iPhone 18. It is being reported separately from Apple’s Pro lineup, which followed its own launch timetable.

Apple announced iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max on September 9, 2026. Preorders opened on September 12, with retail availability beginning September 18. Those confirmed Pro dates do not establish when the standard iPhone 18 will arrive.

Why the first-quarter 2027 report emerged
MacRumors reported on June 15, 2026 that Largan Precision chairman Lin En-ping said a major U.S. customer had postponed a new model to the first quarter of 2027. The chairman did not identify the customer or the phone. That statement is therefore indirect corroboration of the iPhone 18 report, not confirmation from Apple or Largan that the device is an iPhone.
