Apple also lists bug fixes and performance improvements.
What is new in Apple Invites 1.12.1
The update addresses two common event-planning problems: keeping the guest list accurate when people respond outside the app, and displaying a more prominent event countdown on an iPhone Home Screen.

Manual guest and RSVP editing
Why the control matters
Previously, an invitation list could become incomplete when someone confirmed through a channel other than the invitation. Version 1.12.1 lets the host keep the in-app list aligned with those offline or external confirmations. A host can add the person to the event and record whether that guest has responded, rather than leaving the invitation marked as unanswered.
This is an administrative edit for the host; it does not change the fact that the invitation was created in Apple Invites or that the guest responded through another channel. The practical result is a more reliable headcount for planning food, seating and logistics.

- This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
- Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.
- The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charging cable.
- Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.
What hosts can record
- Add a guest who was not captured through the original invitation flow.
- Mark the guest’s RSVP status so the event list reflects a known response.
- Maintain a single, current guest list even when confirmations arrive outside the app.
Apple has not published a detailed, version-specific tap sequence for these controls in the material accompanying the release. Look for the guest-list editing controls inside the event you host after updating to version 1.12.1; the exact labels or placement can vary with the app’s interface and language.
The new extra-large Home Screen widget
Apple Invites now supports the extra-large widget size on the iPhone Home Screen. The larger footprint gives the event countdown more display area than the previously available sizes, making the event easier to see without opening the app.

App version and operating system
Version 1.12.1 is available through the App Store. The current App Store listing says Apple Invites requires iOS 26.0 or later. That is the app’s present compatibility requirement, not the requirement at launch.

- Up to 26 hours video playback. USB C, Supports USB 2. Face ID
When Apple introduced Invites in February 2025, its launch announcement described support for iPhone models running iOS 18 or later. The change from iOS 18 at launch to iOS 26.0 in the current listing reflects the app’s newer compatibility baseline. An iPhone on an older iOS release may therefore be unable to install the current version even if it met the original requirement.
Who needs iCloud+
Apple Invites is a free iPhone app, but creating invitations requires an iCloud+ subscription. Apple’s launch terms said that iCloud+ plans started at $0.99 in 2025; subscription pricing can change, so check Apple’s current regional pricing before subscribing.

Guests do not need an iCloud+ subscription to respond. Apple states that anyone can RSVP, even without an Apple Account or an Apple device. That makes web-based participation possible for invitees using Android phones, Windows PCs or other devices, while the host still uses the iPhone app to create and manage the event.
What Apple Invites already includes
The two additions sit within a broader invitation and event-planning feature set. Depending on the event, hosts can use custom backgrounds or personal photos, Maps and Weather details, Shared Albums, collaborative Apple Music playlists, cohosts, Calendar synchronization, event messages, links, web RSVP and countdown widgets.

Apple describes the app as combining capabilities from iPhone, iCloud and Apple Music. Brent Chiu-Watson, Apple’s senior director of Worldwide Product Marketing for Apps and iCloud, said: “With Apple Invites, an event comes to life from the moment the invitation is created, and users can share lasting memories even after they get together.” He also said the service “brings together capabilities our users already know and love across iPhone, iCloud, and Apple Music, making it easy to plan special events.”
What to check after updating
- Open the App Store and confirm Apple Invites shows version 1.12.1.
- Open an event that you host and review the guest-list controls for manual additions and RSVP-status editing.
- Add any guests who confirmed outside the app and set their recorded response.
- Edit the iPhone Home Screen and add or resize the Invites widget to the extra-large size.
- If the update is unavailable, verify that the iPhone is running iOS 26.0 or later, as required by the current App Store listing.
Bottom line for hosts and guests
Apple Invites 1.12.1 is a focused usability update rather than a redesign. Hosts gain the ability to reconcile real-world confirmations with the in-app guest list, while the extra-large widget makes countdown information more visible. Creating invitations still requires iCloud+, but invitees can RSVP without an Apple Account or Apple device.
