No: Apple’s current accessory pages still list Intel Macs as compatible with its Magic Trackpad and Apple-brand mice and keyboards. That does not prove Apple never made a narrower, earlier change to its website; the pages reviewed do not establish such a history. But the claim that Intel Macs have been dropped from both lists is not supported by the current listings.
What Apple’s current compatibility pages show
Apple’s Trackpads catalog lists Magic Trackpad (USB-C) and includes Intel Mac models in its compatibility filter. Examples include Retina MacBook Air models from 2018–2020, Intel MacBook Pro generations from 2016–2020, iMac models from 2017–2020, iMac Pro (2017), Mac mini (2018) and Intel Mac Pro models.

Apple’s Apple-brand mice and keyboards page likewise lists Magic Mouse (USB-C) and Magic Trackpad (USB-C), with Intel Macs among the compatible models. Its filter includes, among others, iMac models from 2017–2020, Mac mini (2018), Mac Pro (2019) and Intel MacBook Pro models. These are the pages’ current listings, not evidence about every version of Apple’s website over time.
Which older Intel Macs Apple names for Magic Trackpad
Apple’s Magic Trackpad technical specifications identify additional Intel Mac generations. The page’s listed models include:
#1 Best Overall
- Magic Mouse is wireless and rechargeable, with an optimised foot design that lets it glide smoothly across your desk.
- The Multi-Touch surface allows you to perform simple gestures such as swiping between web pages and scrolling through documents.
- The rechargeable battery will power your Magic Mouse for about a month or more between charges.
- It’s ready to go straight out of the box and pairs automatically with your Mac, and it includes a woven USB-C Charge Cable that lets you pair and charge by connecting to a USB-C port on your Mac.
- MacBook Air models from 2015–2017
- Retina MacBook Pro generations from 2012–2015
- MacBook (Retina, 12-inch) models from 2015–2017
- iMac models from late 2014–2015
- Mac mini (Late 2014)
- Mac Pro (Late 2013)
The same specification page gives the system requirement as a Bluetooth-enabled Mac with OS X 10.11 or later. That is Apple’s stated requirement for Magic Trackpad; it does not establish that every listed feature or every newer accessory revision behaves identically on every supported setup.
Does a USB-C Magic Mouse or Trackpad require macOS Sequoia?
The evidence here does not support the claim that macOS Sequoia is required. Apple’s Magic Trackpad specifications state a Bluetooth-enabled Mac running OS X 10.11 or later. Apple’s setup guidance also describes Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad connecting wirelessly over Bluetooth once turned on and paired. Check the technical specifications for the specific accessory and your Mac rather than treating an anecdotal claim about Sequoia as a compatibility rule.

Pair a current Magic Mouse or Trackpad with a Mac
Apple’s setup instructions, published April 16, 2026, explain that these accessories work wirelessly over Bluetooth after they are turned on and paired. For supported current models, the cable can establish the initial connection:

- Connect the accessory to the Mac using a supported cable.
- Turn on the accessory and allow the USB connection to pair it with the Mac.
- Unplug the cable to use the accessory wirelessly.
Apple notes that earlier wireless input-device models without Lightning ports use different setup steps, so the cable procedure may not apply to every generation.

If the accessory will not connect
Apple’s connection guidance, published December 11, 2025, recommends checking Bluetooth, connecting the accessory by cable to pair and charge it, and considering wireless interference if the connection is unstable. If those steps do not resolve the problem, confirm that the instructions match the accessory’s port and generation; older models may have a different setup process.

Apple’s current catalog filters and technical specifications are useful evidence of the models Apple presently names, but a compatibility page is not a complete historical record. The pages reviewed do not show whether Apple made a narrower past edit or when. Establishing that would require a dated archived version or an official change record. For a purchasing or setup decision, use the current specifications for the exact accessory and Mac rather than assuming Intel Macs have been removed across the board.
