In the cited phone tests, Apple’s A19 in the iPhone 17 leads Google’s Tensor G5 in CPU benchmarks, and the iPhone also posts the higher result in one 3DMark graphics test. Tensor G5’s case is better understood through the Pixel features and on-device AI Google targets than through benchmark leadership. These are phone-level results—not a controlled, comprehensive chip-to-chip lab comparison—so device configuration, software, benchmark version, and workload matter.
At a glance: what the comparison establishes
| Measure | iPhone 17 with A19 | Pixel 10 with Tensor G5 | How to read it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Geekbench Browser CPU result | 3,044 single-core; 9,344 multi-core (Geekbench 6.7.0) | 2,251 single-core; 5,495 multi-core (Geekbench 6.7.1) | Device results recorded on a comparison page; patch versions differ. [Geekbench Browser] |
| Tom’s Guide CPU result | 3,701 single-core; 9,460 multi-core (Geekbench 6) | 2,345 single-core; 6,581 multi-core (Geekbench 6) | A separate review’s test table, not the same run as the Geekbench Browser results. [Tom’s Guide] |
| 3DMark graphics result | 130.97 fps in Wild Life Unlimited | 80.58 fps in Wild Life Unlimited | One test result; it does not establish performance in every game or during long sessions. [Tom’s Guide] |
| Premiere Rush video-transcoding example | 22 seconds | 2 minutes 22 seconds | Tom’s Guide reports these elapsed times, but the captured test description does not specify app version, settings, or exact procedure. [Tom’s Guide] |
The table compares the A19 and Tensor G5 as they appear in two phones. It should not be read as a fixed rating of either chip: cooling, memory, firmware, operating system, and test conditions can all influence a handset’s result.

How do the CPU benchmark results compare?
Geekbench Browser entries
The Geekbench comparison page records 3,044 single-core and 9,344 multi-core for the iPhone 17, versus 2,251 and 5,495 for the Pixel 10. The page identifies Geekbench 6.7.0 for the iPhone and 6.7.1 for the Pixel, so even this direct listing is not a perfectly identical software-version comparison. It also identifies iOS 26.6.2 and Android 17, with 7.49 GB and 11.29 GB of memory available to the benchmark respectively. These are recorded device results, not official, immutable processor specifications. [Geekbench Browser]

Tom’s Guide reports 3,701 single-core and 9,460 multi-core for iPhone 17, and 2,345 and 6,581 for Pixel 10. Those numbers differ from the Geekbench Browser entries. Keep the two sources’ runs separate rather than averaging them or suggesting they came from one test session. The direction is consistent in both sources: the iPhone 17 leads in the reported single-core and multi-core CPU scores. [Tom’s Guide]
#1 Best Overall
- This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
- Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.
- When you receive the phone, insert a SIM card from a compatible carrier. Then, turn it on, connect to Wi-Fi, and follow the on screen prompts to activate service.
- The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charger and charging cable.
- Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.
Single-core scores are relevant to workloads that lean on one or a few CPU cores; multi-core scores indicate performance when work can be distributed across cores. Neither score alone predicts how quickly every app will open, how smoothly a particular game will run, or whether a phone will sustain peak performance under prolonged load.
What do the graphics and app results show?
3DMark Wild Life Unlimited
In Tom’s Guide’s Wild Life Unlimited results, iPhone 17 records 130.97 fps and Pixel 10 records 80.58 fps. This is a result for that named benchmark on those phones—not a guarantee that the iPhone will be faster in every game. Game engines, graphics settings, software optimization, heat, and sustained load can change the experience. [Tom’s Guide]

Android Central reports a different test, 3DMark Wild Life Extreme: Pixel 10 scored 3,122 (18.70 fps), while Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL scored 3,254 (19.49 fps). Those figures should not be compared numerically with Wild Life Unlimited; they come from a different benchmark. Android Central notes that the Pixel 10 lacks the vapor chamber found in the Pro models, a reminder that cooling and phone configuration can affect results even when devices share Tensor G5. [Android Central]
Premiere Rush is a workload example, not a universal speed rating
Tom’s Guide lists an Adobe Premiere Rush task at 22 seconds on iPhone 17 and 2 minutes 22 seconds on Pixel 10. That is a substantial difference in this reported example, but the available test description does not detail the app version, settings, or precise procedure. Treat it as evidence about that particular test, not a prediction for every video-editing task. [Tom’s Guide]

What is known about Tensor G5’s hardware?
Android Central reports this Tensor G5 CPU and GPU configuration:
- One Cortex-X4 core at 3.78 GHz
- Five Cortex-A725 cores at 3.05 GHz
- Two Cortex-A520 cores at 2.25 GHz
- PowerVR DXT-48-1536 GPU
- Fourth-generation TPU and LPDDR5X memory
Android Central reports TSMC 3 nm manufacturing and relays Google’s claims of a 34% average CPU uplift over Tensor G4 and up to 60% more TPU power. These are reported generational claims against Tensor G4, not measurements comparing Tensor G5 with A19. [Android Central]

The sources used for this comparison do not establish a matching detailed A19 architecture, cache, memory-bandwidth figure, or standardized AI-throughput result. It would therefore be misleading to infer a complete architectural winner from the available specifications.
Does Tensor G5’s AI capability make it faster?
“Faster” depends on the task. CPU and graphics scores measure particular benchmark workloads; they do not directly measure the quality or speed of Pixel AI features. Google positions Tensor around Pixel capabilities and on-device AI, while the reported TPU uplift is a manufacturer claim relative to the previous Tensor generation. The available evidence does not provide a common, independently comparable A19-versus-Tensor G5 AI benchmark, so there is no substantiated overall AI winner here.

For a buying decision, assess the specific features and apps you use, alongside benchmark results. A chip’s role in a phone is broader than its place on a synthetic score chart, and platform software and device implementation affect everyday behavior.
Quick Recap
Which phone should you choose based on this comparison?
- Prioritize the measured CPU results: the cited Geekbench listings favor iPhone 17, with the caveat that sources and test runs produce different absolute scores.
- Prioritize the cited graphics result: iPhone 17 also leads Pixel 10 in Tom’s Guide’s Wild Life Unlimited test, but that is one benchmark rather than a sustained-gaming evaluation.
- Prioritize Pixel AI and Google’s software experience: Tensor G5 is relevant as the processor powering those Pixel capabilities, but the provided figures do not establish an A19-versus-G5 AI performance ranking.
- Compare the actual devices, not only their processors: cooling, memory configuration, operating system, apps, and the workload you care about shape the experience.
What this comparison cannot tell you
- It is not a controlled lab test of two chips in identical hardware.
- It does not establish sustained gaming performance across long sessions or all titles.
- It does not provide a common AI throughput test for A19 and Tensor G5.
- It does not verify like-for-like A19 and Tensor G5 die architecture, cache, process node, or memory bandwidth from primary specifications.
