In the reviewed iPhone 16 and Pixel 10, Apple’s A18 leads Google’s Tensor G5 in the cited CPU and graphics benchmarks. That does not make the chips interchangeable with benchmark scores: results come from particular phones, tests, and software. Google, meanwhile, positions Tensor G5 around on-device AI and Pixel features as well as performance.
Which phones are being compared?
This comparison uses the Apple A18 in the iPhone 16 and Google Tensor G5 in the Pixel 10. It does not substitute the A18 Pro or results from another Pixel model. Because benchmarks run on complete phones, their scores reflect the tested handset and software—not a controlled test of two chips in otherwise identical devices.

How do the benchmark results compare?
Tom’s Guide reported these results for its reviewed iPhone 16 and Pixel 10:
| Test | iPhone 16 (A18) | Pixel 10 (Tensor G5) |
|---|---|---|
| Geekbench 6 single-core | 3,301 | 2,345 |
| Geekbench 6 multi-core | 8,033 | 6,581 |
| 3DMark Wild Life Unlimited average | 98.23 fps | 80.58 fps |
On these reported tests, the iPhone 16 scores higher in both Geekbench 6 CPU results and the 3DMark graphics test. The 3DMark figures are test averages, not a promise of a fixed frame rate in a particular game. Results can vary across reviews, phones, and software versions. Tom’s Guide’s iPhone 16 review provides the cited review results.

Why other published scores differ
Beebom reports a different set of figures: Geekbench 6 scores of 3,254 single-core and 8,070 multi-core for the iPhone 16, and 2,285 and 6,191 for the Pixel 10 Pro. It also reports AnTuTu totals of 1,790,331 for the iPhone 16 and 1,291,252 for the Pixel 10 Pro. These are Beebom’s figures for those stated devices, not results for the Pixel 10 in Tom’s Guide’s comparison; the difference illustrates why the tested handset and source matter. Beebom’s benchmark comparison gives its test context.
What does Google say Tensor G5 improves?
Google describes Tensor G5 as built on a TSMC 3 nm process and highlights its TPU, CPU, and Gemini Nano performance. Its figures compare Tensor G5 with Tensor G4, not with Apple A18:

- Google says the TPU is up to 60% more powerful than Tensor G4.
- Google reports a 34% faster average CPU versus Tensor G4 across the Pixel 10 series. The company says this comparison is based on internal testing with pre-production devices.
- For cited Pixel Screenshots and Recorder use cases, Google says its newest Gemini Nano runs 2.6 times faster and 2 times more efficiently than on Tensor G4, based on its internal pre-production testing.
These are Google’s own claims, not independent head-to-head measurements against A18. Google’s product framing puts AI capabilities alongside performance. In the August 20, 2025 announcement, Google Group Product Manager Jesse Seed wrote, “Our fifth-generation Google Tensor chip brings the latest in AI to the Pixel 10 series.” Google’s Tensor G5 announcement contains the company’s claims and feature context; it also notes that some features depend on country, language, or eligibility.

If your main comparison is the cited CPU and graphics tests, the A18-powered iPhone 16 comes out ahead of the Tensor G5-powered Pixel 10. The scores do not establish which chip is faster in every app, how performance holds up under sustained workloads, which uses less power, or which performs better on every AI task. The available results are not a comprehensive same-method battery or sustained-load comparison.

For a buying decision, consider the whole phone and the features you will actually use, not just a benchmark ranking. Google emphasizes on-device AI and Pixel-specific capabilities, but its Tensor G4 comparisons do not show how those features compare directly with A18. Benchmark leadership alone cannot settle the choice between the iPhone 16 and Pixel 10.
