If Apex Legends won’t launch on PC after its anti-cheat change, first note the exact error, restart the game and PC, check EA’s status updates, and repair the game files in your storefront. Then use the fix for the error you actually see. Timing alone does not prove anti-cheat caused the failure: EA also lists corrupted game files, background software, and Windows or driver conditions as possible causes.
EA’s move from Easy Anti-Cheat to EA Javelin took effect on September 29, 2026. The migration happens automatically when you launch the updated game. EA says Secure Boot is not required for Apex’s migration; do not change BIOS settings as a routine first step. These instructions are for PC, not console.

Start with the error and a few basic checks
- Record what happens. Write down the full error message or code. Note whether the launcher opens, the game stays on “preparing,” closes immediately, or displays an anti-cheat warning.
- Check for a reported service or game issue. Look at EA server status and official Apex communications. These checks can help identify a reported problem; they do not establish that an outage is happening.
- Restart Apex and your PC. If you play through Steam and see a download progress bar on Apex’s launch screen, EA says Steam is updating in the background. Wait for it to finish before trying again.
- Repair the game files. Use the EA app or Steam instructions below, then relaunch once the repair or verification completes.
Repair Apex through your storefront
EA app
- Open the EA app and select Library.
- Find Apex Legends, then select Manage or the three-dot menu.
- Select Repair and let the process finish before launching the game again.
EA recommends repairing files for general loading failures and for the anti-cheat runtime integrity error. Its loading guidance is available at EA app download, install, and loading troubleshooting.

Steam
Use Steam’s game-file repair or verification option for Apex Legends, then try launching again. EA’s Apex error guidance links Steam players to its file-checking process for Error 30005: verify game files.

“The client failed Anti-Cheat runtime integrity check”
EA says this can result from a corrupted file and recommends repairing Apex through the EA app: Library > Apex Legends > Manage > Repair. If repair does not resolve it, EA says a fix may be needed; check current EA support rather than trying unrelated system changes. See EA’s Apex Legends error-code guidance.
Error 30005
Start by repairing the game files in the EA app or Steam. EA’s error page also lists deleting a .sys file from C:Program Files (x86)EasyAntiCheat and restarting. However, EA’s later migration announcement says Apex moved from Easy Anti-Cheat to Javelin effective September 29, 2026, and does not clarify whether that older EasyAntiCheat-folder instruction still applies to a post-migration installation. Do not treat deleting that file as a confirmed Javelin fix; if repair fails, consult current EA support guidance.
Javelin Error #41 on Windows 11 Insider Preview
EA says this error can occur when the Insider Preview build lacks a renewed Windows Insider certificate. Install the latest available Insider Preview update, restart Windows, and try Apex again. This is a specific Windows Insider case, not a general launch-failure fix. See EA Javelin anti-cheat troubleshooting.

Expired or unsigned driver, or an unrecoverable error
EA recommends restarting the PC and relaunching first. If the error remains, its Javelin guide points to Microsoft’s steps for enabling Secure Boot: Microsoft’s Secure Boot guidance. This is distinct from the Apex migration itself: EA says Secure Boot is not required simply to move Apex to Javelin.
An error names incompatible software
Follow the message and EA’s current Javelin guidance. EA says the named software may need an update or may not be allowed to run while a Javelin-protected game is active. Do not disable unrelated security software or other programs just because Apex fails to launch.

- Check for Windows updates and current graphics-card drivers.
- Try a clean boot if the issue persists, to help identify a background conflict.
- Temporarily turn off the EA app in-game overlay as a diagnostic check. Turn it back on after the issue is fixed.
These are launcher troubleshooting steps, not universal Javelin error fixes. Follow EA’s EA app loading guidance for details.
When to contact EA
If the error is not covered here or repair and the relevant error-specific steps fail, check Apex’s current status and official communications, then seek help through the EA Forums or EA support. Include details that help distinguish a game-file issue from a launcher, Windows, or anti-cheat problem:
Quick Recap

- Your Windows version and build, including whether it is an Insider Preview.
- The exact error text or code and what happens when you launch.
