Where to download Apex Legends for Windows
Use a storefront linked by EA rather than a third-party download site. EA lists the EA app and Steam as PC download options, and its official game page also links to the Epic Games Store. Which options appear may depend on your location.

EA says the EA app is required to play EA games on PC, including when launching an EA title from Steam or Epic. Storefront choice does not establish a difference in game content or performance.

- An EA account and a persistent internet connection.
- Enough free storage and hardware that meet EA’s listed minimum requirements.

Apex Legends minimum PC requirements
EA’s English-language PC requirements page lists these minimum specifications. The figures below are EA’s published requirements on that page, accessed October 7, 2026; hardware below the minimum may not meet the stated compatibility threshold.

EA describes its separate recommended tier as intended for smooth 60 fps gameplay. How to install the game
- Open the official EA, Steam, or Epic Games Store destination linked from EA’s Apex Legends page.
- Sign in to the chosen storefront or create an account if needed. For Steam, link your Steam account to an EA account when prompted.
- Use the storefront’s install option and follow its prompts. Exact screen labels and download duration can vary, so allow the store to show the current process and required space.
If you already play through both Steam and the EA app, do not launch Apex Legends simultaneously through both with the same linked account; EA warns this can cause progression issues. EA says progression and unlocks carry over between the EA app and Steam for returning players.

EA describes Apex Legends as free to download and play. The game includes optional in-game purchases, including virtual currency that can be used for virtual items and random selections. Those purchases do not change the free download price.

Do you need a controller?
No controller is required to download or play on PC. EA lists mouse options, fully remappable keyboard bindings, gamepad support, and voice and text chat accessibility options. Xbox and PlayStation controllers are officially supported on PC, but EA does not require a particular model. EA says speech/text conversion options are currently available only in English.
