Gemini Enterprise may fit organizations looking for a managed business agent platform with Google’s connector and administration environment. Claude may fit teams choosing Anthropic’s models and business products, including teams that want to run Claude through Google Cloud’s Vertex AI. Start by defining whether you need an employee assistant, API access, or an enterprise agent platform—then compare the options against your workflows, governance needs, and a pilot using your own tasks.
First, define what you are comparing
“Claude vs. Gemini for business” can refer to different products and buying decisions. Gemini Enterprise is a business platform for employee search and analysis, connectors, workflow building, agent administration, and governance. Anthropic sells Claude for Work plans and API access; Claude models are also available through cloud platforms such as Google Vertex AI. Those surfaces do not have identical capabilities or billing, so a comparison is meaningful only when the edition, model, deployment route, geography, and date are clear.

How the platforms differ for business buyers
Workflow and integrations
Google lists connectors for Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, HubSpot, Jira, and other tools as part of its Gemini Enterprise materials. Anthropic announced Claude access to Google Docs, Gmail, and Calendar, and its Enterprise information describes a GitHub integration. These announcements do not establish that every connector is available in every edition or region, or that each one supports your exact workflow. Verify the edition, permission behavior, and data access path before rollout. Governance and administration
Anthropic documents SSO, domain capture, just-in-time provisioning, role-based permissions, audit logs, SCIM, and custom data retention for Enterprise. Google describes centralized agent governance and access controls, with additional security, audit, and data-boundary features in its enterprise materials. Feature descriptions are not a substitute for checking contract terms: confirm which controls are included in the plan and available in your region. Model choice and cloud deployment
Choosing a model and choosing a cloud provider are not necessarily the same decision. Google describes its wider platform as supporting Google models, Claude, and open models. Google Cloud also documents Claude inference through Vertex AI, with managed infrastructure, IAM, VPC controls, and observability. An organization can therefore consider Claude models on Google Cloud rather than assuming that selecting Claude requires selecting Anthropic’s infrastructure. See Google Cloud’s Claude on Vertex AI documentation and Google Cloud’s Gemini Enterprise information.

Price and billing unit
As listed on Google Cloud’s product page retrieved October 7, 2026, Gemini Enterprise Business starts at $21 USD per seat per month, while Standard and Plus start at $30 USD per seat per month. These are vendor-listed starting prices that can change and may be subject to commercial terms. The page also describes a pay-as-you-go edition for a limited rollout group. Check the current offer and contract for your region: Google Cloud Gemini Enterprise.
Anthropic’s API pricing is usage-based rather than a directly comparable per-seat subscription. Its May 27, 2026 price sheet gives token rates by model tier and endpoint scope; an applicable cost depends on the model, endpoint, and usage pattern. Compare expected seats and API volume, as well as infrastructure, support, and any contracted discounts—not just a headline subscription price. Source: Anthropic API pricing.

Which option may fit your organization?
| What matters most | Where to start | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| A managed agent environment and connectors across workplace tools | Evaluate Gemini Enterprise | Connector availability in your edition, permission handling, regional availability, and governance terms |
| Anthropic’s Claude business products and documented enterprise controls | Evaluate Claude for Work or Anthropic API products | Plan-specific features, identity and retention controls, model availability, and the right billing unit |
| Claude models with Google Cloud deployment controls | Evaluate Claude through Vertex AI | Model and endpoint availability, infrastructure requirements, IAM, VPC, observability, and total usage cost |
| Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, or other connected workflows | Compare the relevant connectors in both products | Whether each connector is included, respects source permissions, and supports the task employees need |
This is a shortlist, not a performance verdict. Google Cloud describes its platform with the marketing sentence, “Use the best model for the job, every time.” That is positioning, not independent evidence that one model will perform better for a particular company.

Quick Recap
Rank #4
- Choose representative tasks. Use real work patterns—such as finding information across connected sources, analyzing documents, or completing a workflow—rather than prompts chosen to favor one product.
- Hold the test constant. Give both options the same inputs, source data, user instructions, and access boundaries. Record the product, edition, model, and deployment route used for each run.
- Set scoring criteria before testing. Score accuracy, factual grounding, latency, failure handling, and the amount of human review required. Define what counts as an acceptable answer for each task.
- Include administration and integration checks. Confirm that the required connectors and controls work in the actual edition, including permissions, provisioning, audit needs, and retention requirements.
- Estimate the full cost of the tested setup. Include seats or API usage, cloud infrastructure, support, and any relevant contracted terms. Keep per-seat and token-based billing separate in the calculation.
- Review the results with the people who will use and govern the system. A model that does well on a narrow answer-quality test may still be a poor fit if its integration, controls, or operational burden do not match the business.
What to confirm before committing
- The exact product surface: assistant subscription, API, or agent platform.
- The model, deployment route, region, and edition you are evaluating.
- Connector availability and how permissions are applied to connected data.
- Identity, provisioning, role, audit, and retention controls included under your terms.
- Current regional pricing and any contractual conditions; the figures above reflect Google’s page as retrieved October 7, 2026, not a guaranteed quote.
- Performance on your organization’s tasks, measured through a controlled pilot rather than vendor positioning or an old model comparison.
