How the three-layer filter works
Pre-filter mesh
The first layer catches larger material such as visible dust, hair and lint before it reaches the finer filter. It is the layer the manual directs owners to vacuum. Keeping it clear protects airflow and reduces the load on the HEPA layer.
H13 HEPA layer
The Kmart/Anko manual states: “The HEPA filter (Grade H13) removes 99.9% of particles as small as 0.3 microns and greater from the air.” That sentence is a manufacturer statement. It should not be read as an independently verified whole-machine removal rate in a furnished room, nor as proof that every pass through the purifier produces that result.
Activated-carbon mesh
Activated carbon is intended to adsorb some gases and odour compounds. What room size does it cover?
The only published room-size figure for this model is up to 27 m², paired with the claimed 323 m³/h CADR. Use that as an upper boundary rather than a promise. A 27 m² open room with a standard ceiling and the purifier running at high speed is a different workload from a 27 m² space divided by furniture, with doors open to adjoining rooms, or operated mainly on low speed.
For a smaller bedroom or office, the purifier has more opportunity to recirculate the room’s air. For an open-plan area or a room above 27 m², one PF00-22381 is outside its stated coverage and should not be selected on the assumption that the CADR figure alone makes up the difference. If your priority is smoke or a strong, persistent source, allow additional margin rather than designing right at the published maximum.
Setup and daily operation
- Choose the location. Place the purifier on a stable, level surface with at least 30 cm between it and walls or other appliances. Keep it away from bathrooms, outdoor use, greasy kitchens, aerosol use and locations where oxygen is being administered.
- Install the filter set. Follow the access-panel and filter orientation instructions in the manual. Do not operate the unit with packaging left around the filter.
- Connect power. Plug the 220–240 V unit into a suitable outlet. The purifier starts with the fan at speed 2 unless you change it.
- Set airflow. Select low for quieter, lighter circulation, medium for normal use, or high when you need maximum stated airflow and can accept more sound and power draw.
- Use the timer when appropriate. Select 2, 4 or 8 hours for a defined run period, such as a sleep or cooking clean-up cycle.
- Prepare the remote. Insert two AAA batteries, which are not supplied. Point the infrared remote toward the purifier’s receiver when changing settings.
- Understand the ionizer cycle. The ionizer starts on by default, runs for 30 minutes and then switches off automatically. The manual says holding the fan-speed button restarts it. If you specifically want a non-ionizing appliance, verify the available control behavior before purchase; the documented instructions describe the timed cycle rather than a separate permanent-off mode.
Filter maintenance and replacement
Routine cleaning
Unplug the purifier before maintenance. The manual recommends vacuuming the pre-filter with a brush attachment on low power and cleaning the filters every 100–500 operating hours, depending on air quality. A dusty home, pets, renovation work or frequent cooking moves you toward the shorter end of that range. Cleaning the pre-filter is not a substitute for replacing the complete filter set.
When to replace the filter
Replace the complete set every 8–12 months, or sooner when the red filter indicator illuminates. The interval is usage- and air-quality-dependent, so a heavily polluted environment can require earlier replacement. The product’s maintenance schedule is recurring even if the purifier still appears to run normally.
Replacement procedure and reset
- Switch the purifier off and unplug it.
- Open the filter compartment as shown in the manual and remove the complete used filter set.

Filter price, availability and total ownership cost
CHOICE lists the purifier at A$149 and a replacement filter at A$29, with an annual replacement-filter cost of A$29. Those are listed prices accessed in 2026 and can change with retailer pricing, promotions and stock. The annual figure effectively assumes one A$29 replacement per year; it does not include electricity, shipping or an earlier replacement caused by heavy use.

Other owners report satisfactory operation, so the evidence is mixed rather than proof that every unit has been discontinued. Because the manual specifies an 8–12-month replacement cycle, filter availability should be checked before buying the purifier, not after the first red indicator appears.
Is the Anko purifier noisy?

The 12-month warranty in the manual covers eligible defects and says Kmart will offer a refund, repair or exchange. Keep proof of purchase and the model number. Warranty remedies do not remove the need to replace a normally consumed filter, and a filter shortage can remain a practical ownership problem even when the purifier itself has not failed.
Observe the placement restrictions: maintain at least 30 cm clearance, keep the unit out of bathrooms and outdoors, avoid greasy kitchen environments and do not use it where aerosols or oxygen are being administered. Unplug before opening or cleaning the filter compartment.

The purifier shows a filter warning soon after installation
Confirm that the filter is seated correctly and that the compartment is fully closed. After replacing the set, hold the filter button for three seconds to reset the indicator. If the light returns unusually quickly, inspect the pre-filter for heavy loading and follow the manual’s cleaning interval.
Airflow feels weak
Unplug the unit, vacuum the pre-filter with the brush attachment on low power, check that all sides have at least 30 cm clearance and verify that the filter is installed in the correct orientation. Do not block the intake or outlet with curtains, furniture or another appliance.
The unit seems too loud
