If the game reports success but you cannot find the reward, check the intended account’s mail or inventory. Code rules differ between games, so use the publisher’s help page for the specific code.
Start with the error message
Read the full message before trying again. “Expired,” “invalid,” and “already used” can point to different problems, and the same code rules do not apply across every game. For HoYoverse games, the publisher’s October 8, 2025 troubleshooting article identifies region mismatch, expiry, entry errors, and prior redemption as checks for invalid or already-used code errors.

- Expired: The code’s redemption window may have ended.
- Invalid: Check the exact characters, issuing game, account, region, and redemption route.
- Already used: Check whether the code was redeemed previously, possibly on another account if the publisher allows that code type.
Check whether the code is still valid
Promotional codes can have limited redemption windows. HoYoverse says covered codes may be time-sensitive, and Roblox says promo codes may be available only briefly. Verify the end date in the original announcement or the game publisher’s official redemption information; an old list of codes is not proof that a code remains active. Avoid relying on unofficial “active code” pages unless the publisher confirms the code and its current validity.
Re-enter the code and verify eligibility
Check spelling and look-alike characters
Copy the code from its official source if possible, then check for extra spaces or missing characters. Preserve capitalization where required. HoYoverse specifically warns about case sensitivity and look-alikes such as zero and the letter O; Roblox likewise advises entering promo codes accurately. Do not add or remove punctuation unless the publisher’s instructions say to.

Confirm the game, account, and server or region
Make sure the code was issued for the game you are playing and that you are signed into the account you intend to receive the reward on. Some codes also depend on server or region. HoYoverse tells players to match a code to the relevant server region—Asia, Europe, Americas, or TW, HK, MO. Roblox’s promo-code guidance says to verify the signed-in account. A code’s eligibility in one game, account, or region does not establish that it will work in another.
Check whether it was already redeemed
Look for the reward or redemption history on the intended account before trying repeatedly. HoYoverse says each covered code can be used once. For Roblox retail codes, the publisher’s retail-code support page advises checking other accounts if a code appears to have been redeemed. Retail codes and in-game promo codes are different categories, so follow the instructions for the type you actually have.

Use the correct redemption route for your game and device
Do not assume every anime game has an in-game code button or the same redemption website. Check the game’s own current support instructions, including whether redemption is available on your device.
Genshin Impact
HoYoverse’s Genshin Impact gift-code instructions direct players to its official gift page. After redemption, rewards are sent to in-game mail. HoYoverse says this mail typically expires after 30 days; that is the mail’s expiry period, not the code’s validity period.

Honkai: Star Rail on iOS
In a support article dated November 18, 2025, HoYoverse says the in-game redemption feature is unavailable on iOS for Honkai: Star Rail. Its instructions direct players to redeem through the official website after linking a HoYoverse account. Check the current iOS redemption support instructions if you cannot find the button.
Roblox promo codes and retail codes
Roblox separates promo-code redemption from retail-code redemption. Follow the relevant official page for the code type: promo codes or retail codes. Roblox retail codes are redeemed in a browser, not through the same route as a promo code. The steps and eligibility for one type should not be assumed to apply to the other.

If redemption succeeds but the reward is missing
- Confirm the account currently signed in is the one used for redemption.
- Check the game’s mail, inventory, or the reward location specified by its publisher.
- Allow for any delivery delay stated in the game’s official instructions.
- For Genshin Impact, check in-game mail; HoYoverse says redeemed rewards arrive there and that the mail typically expires after 30 days.
- For Roblox promo items, check the account inventory as Roblox recommends.
When to contact official support
If the code appears current and eligible but still fails, contact the game or platform’s official support rather than a code-sharing site. Include the exact code, the game and platform, the account or server details requested by support, and a screenshot or video of the error. HoYoverse specifically requests the code and an error screenshot or video; Roblox and Riot also provide support routes for code problems. Never send your password or other login credentials to a third party.

Be especially cautious of sites or tools promising free Robux or valuable items in exchange for your login. Roblox warns that free Robux or valuable-item generators are scams; use official channels and do not disclose account credentials.
