The latest September 2026 coverage reports 22 fish species in Anime Expeditions: the original 18-fish Summer Siege index plus four fish added to Crimson Shore. Older guides list 18 because they predate Crimson Shore and because four species appear on both the Lobby and Coral Kingdom location lists. The game has no developer-authored October 20, 2026 index changelog, so treat 22 as the latest reported total and verify your live Fish Index in-game.
Why some guides say 18 fish and others say 22
The apparent disagreement is caused by two different update snapshots and by duplicate location entries. The original Summer Siege index contains 18 unique catches, while its map tables contain 22 location entries because Prize Fish, Fusion Fish, Shellphone Snail and Coopfin can spawn in both the Lobby and Coral Kingdom. September 2026 coverage then reported four Crimson Shore additions, producing a latest reported total of 22 unique species.

Use Shellphone Snail as the canonical name. One guide calls the same fish “Shellphone Fish,” but the catch is treated as one species. Because no official developer fish-index changelog was found for the live October 20 state, your in-game index is the final authority if it differs from this list.

| Fish | Rarity | Spawn location | How to interpret the location |
|---|---|---|---|
| Blue Tang | 1-star | Lobby only | Exclusive Lobby target |
| Derp Fish | 2-star | Lobby only | Exclusive Lobby target |
| Owl Fish | 3-star | Lobby only | Exclusive Lobby target |
| Prize Fish | 2-star | Lobby and Coral Kingdom | Shared pool |
| Fusion Fish | 3-star | Lobby and Coral Kingdom | Shared pool |
| Shellphone Snail | 4-star | Lobby and Coral Kingdom | Shared pool; sometimes labeled “Shellphone Fish” |
| Coopfin | 5-star | Lobby and Coral Kingdom | Shared pool and the highest-star fish in the original table |
| Mirror Fish | 3-star | Coral Kingdom | Coral Kingdom exclusive |
| Booster Fish | 3-star | Coral Kingdom | Coral Kingdom exclusive |
| Rock Fish | 1-star | School Grounds | School Grounds exclusive |
| Red Jewel Fish | 2-star | School Grounds | School Grounds exclusive |
| Tropical Fish | 3-star | School Grounds | School Grounds exclusive |
| Butterfly Fish | 1-star | Flower Forest | Flower Forest exclusive |
| Green Tiger Barb | 2-star | Flower Forest | Flower Forest exclusive |
| Rainbow Fish | 4-star | Flower Forest | Flower Forest exclusive |
| Clown Fish | 1-star | East Town | East Town exclusive |
| Puffer Fish | 3-star | East Town | East Town exclusive |
| Sword Fish | 4-star | East Town | East Town exclusive |
Rarest original catch: Coopfin is the only 5-star fish in the original checklist. That makes it the highest-rarity target documented for the Summer Siege set, although a star rating does not establish a precise probability.
Four Crimson Shore additions
September 2026 updates reported a separate Crimson Shore pool. These four species are the reason the current reported count rises from 18 to 22.
| Fish | Rarity | Reported location |
|---|---|---|
| Soul Fish | 1-star | Crimson Shore |
| Koi | 2-star | Crimson Shore |
| Golden Koi | 3-star | Crimson Shore |
| Skull Fish | 4-star | Crimson Shore |
Coverage of September Update 2.5 also describes Crimson Shore as adding four fish types. No later official list was available in the material reviewed, so do not assume that 22 is permanently frozen if a subsequent event patch changes the index.

1. Lobby
Open the Fish icon, equip a rod and fish only in large, still pools. Reliable water is reported near the Story hub, Carrot Summer NPC, AFK Chamber, Guilds and Tower, Summon, Upgrades, Leaderboards and Tournaments hubs. Fast-flowing Lobby water may not trigger a bite.
Record the three Lobby-exclusive catches—Blue Tang, Derp Fish and Owl Fish—before leaving. Prize Fish, Fusion Fish, Shellphone Snail and Coopfin can also appear here, so the Lobby can serve as a shared-pool farm when you do not want to enter the event map.
2. Coral Kingdom (Tidal Siege)
Enter through the Tidal Siege event tab. Any water on this map is reported as fishable. Coral Kingdom supplies Mirror Fish and Booster Fish, plus the shared Prize Fish, Fusion Fish, Shellphone Snail and Coopfin pool. If you are missing one of the four shared fish, check both maps rather than assuming it is exclusive to one location.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3. School Grounds
Choose Infinite mode, follow the path to the large building and enter its grounds. Turn left and fish the pool. The documented School Grounds set is Rock Fish, Red Jewel Fish and Tropical Fish.

4. Flower Forest
Use Infinite mode and go behind the enemy spawn portal to the water there. Fish for Butterfly Fish, Green Tiger Barb and Rainbow Fish. Rainbow Fish is the 4-star target and may take longer than the lower-star catches in this pool.
5. East Town
Follow the path beyond the end of East Town to the open sea. The Bioinsect NPC is a useful landmark on the left. This water contains Clown Fish, Puffer Fish and Sword Fish.
6. Crimson Shore
Fish any red pool reported on Crimson Shore. The documented pool contains Soul Fish, Koi, Golden Koi and Skull Fish. If your live map uses a different event name or pool layout, open the Fish Index and confirm the location label before spending time there.
How the fishing minigame works
- Open the Fish icon. This is where you select the fishing interface and inspect your index.
- Equip a rod. Start with the Normal Rod or choose a rod you have unlocked.
- Stand at valid water. Use still pools in the Lobby; story maps may require a specific start action.
- Cast. If you are in a story map, press Start before casting when the map does not respond to the first attempt.
- Control the blue block. Hold the input to move the blue control block to the right. Release it to let the block drift left.
- Track the fish icon. Keep the blue block beneath the moving fish icon until the progress bar fills. Losing alignment slows or breaks the catch, so short holds and releases are easier to control than one long press.
- Confirm the reward. A successful catch can award Sand Dollars, Fishing XP and milestone XP, then updates the index if it is a new species.
When a cast produces no bite, move to still water first, then retry the Start action on a story map. A non-triggering cast is a location or map-state problem, not evidence that the fish has been removed.

Rod progression and which rod to use
| Rod | How it is reported to unlock | What it does | Best use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Normal Rod | Default starting rod | Standard manual fishing | Early catches and learning the minigame |
| Advanced Rod | 750 Sand Dollars in the Summer Shop | Reported as the fastest manual lure | Manual farming when you want quicker bites |
| Lucky Rod | About a 1% drop after a catch | Reported passive guarantees a Mythic every eighth catch | Long sessions and difficult manual targets |
| Recycling Rod | Commonly reported at 100 fish caught; acquisition reports conflict | Unlock condition and exact behavior should be checked against the live milestone | Players pursuing the catch-count milestone |
| Auto Rod | Reach Wave 150 in Tidal Siege Infinite mode | Skips the fishing minigame | AFK farming; it does not select a specific missing species |
For difficult manual catches, the detailed fishing guidance favors the Lucky Rod or Advanced Rod for Shellphone Snail, Coopfin, Butterfly Fish and Puffer Fish. The reported 1% Lucky Rod figure is an approximate drop chance, not a guarantee on a particular attempt. The 750-Sand-Dollar Advanced Rod price is tied to the Summer Shop, so its availability may change with the event.
Manual control versus automation
- Choose the Advanced Rod when you are actively playing and want the quickest reported lure without waiting for a rare drop.
- Choose the Lucky Rod when you can tolerate a low acquisition chance and plan many catches; its reported eighth-catch Mythic passive is a progression benefit, not a way to target one named fish.
- Choose the Auto Rod only after reaching Wave 150 in Tidal Siege Infinite. It removes the minigame but does not improve species targeting, so you still need the correct map pool.
- Use the Normal Rod while learning movement timing or collecting common 1-star and 2-star fish.
Route decisions: exclusives, rarity and requirements
| Map | Exclusive species | Shared species | Requirement or constraint |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lobby | Blue Tang, Derp Fish, Owl Fish | Prize Fish, Fusion Fish, Shellphone Snail, Coopfin | Use large, still pools; fast-flowing water may fail |
| Coral Kingdom | Mirror Fish, Booster Fish | Prize Fish, Fusion Fish, Shellphone Snail, Coopfin | Enter through Tidal Siege event tab |
| School Grounds | Rock Fish, Red Jewel Fish, Tropical Fish | None reported | Infinite mode; fish the pool left of the large building |
| Flower Forest | Butterfly Fish, Green Tiger Barb, Rainbow Fish | None reported | Infinite mode; water behind enemy spawn portal |
| East Town | Clown Fish, Puffer Fish, Sword Fish | None reported | Follow the path to the open sea; Bioinsect NPC on the left |
| Crimson Shore | Soul Fish, Koi, Golden Koi, Skull Fish | None reported | Fish the reported red pools |
A practical completion order is Lobby exclusives, Coral Kingdom exclusives, the three Infinite-mode maps, then Crimson Shore. Return to the Lobby or Coral Kingdom for shared fish only if the index still shows one of those four as missing.

Every successful catch can provide Sand Dollars, Fishing XP and experience toward the event milestone system. Fishing contributes to a 25-level event milestone ladder, so catching common fish still advances progression even after the index entry is already filled.

A fan guide also reports a rare Sharktooth Conch catch in Tidal Siege pools. It is described as a rare pool catch rather than one of the named fish in the 22-species count, so do not add it to your fish total unless your own in-game index lists it as a fish entry.

Troubleshooting missing entries
The index says 18, not 22
Check whether you are looking at an older Summer Siege list or a view that has not incorporated Crimson Shore. Search the Crimson Shore pools for Soul Fish, Koi, Golden Koi and Skull Fish, then compare the live index after each catch.
A location has water but no bite
In the Lobby, move to a large, still pool; fast-flowing water may not register. On a story map, press Start before casting, then recast from the center of the documented pool.
You cannot find an exclusive fish
Confirm the map and mode first. School Grounds and Flower Forest require Infinite mode, Coral Kingdom is entered through Tidal Siege, and East Town’s targets are beyond the path in the open sea rather than in a small town puddle.
The minigame keeps losing progress
Use shorter holds on the input, release to let the blue block drift left, and make small corrections so it stays under the moving fish icon. Higher rarity does not change the control rule; it generally means you should expect a longer or less forgiving attempt.
The Recycling Rod milestone is not available
Reports commonly place it at 100 fish caught but conflict on the exact acquisition process. Check the current in-game milestone or rod menu instead of relying on an older unlock description.
Quick Recap
How to verify completion on October 20, 2026
- Open the Fish Index and count distinct species names, treating Shellphone Snail and Shellphone Fish as one entry if both labels appear in different guides.
- Mark the 18 original Summer Siege species separately from the four Crimson Shore names.
- Check that every exclusive map has been visited under its required mode.
- Use a shared Lobby or Coral Kingdom pool for any remaining Prize Fish, Fusion Fish, Shellphone Snail or Coopfin entry.
- Record the live total after the final catch, because an official developer changelog confirming the October total was not available.
