If an Among Us lobby code is not working, first ask the host to resend the code from the live lobby, then check the host and room details shown before you join. Innersloth’s documented join flow also lets you check the region and chat type. If those details match but the problem persists, update the game and send Innersloth a report with the error and steps to reproduce it.
1. Re-enter the code and check the lobby details
Ask the host to read or resend the code from the lobby they currently have open, then enter it again through Play > Online > Enter Code. In the documented flow, the game shows the host, lobby capacity, region, and chat type before you choose Join Game. Check that the host and room details match the session you meant to join.

If the displayed details point to a different lobby, stop before joining and ask the host to confirm they sent the current code. Innersloth’s update describing this interface does not specify a current code length or character rule, so avoid relying on guesses about what a valid code should look like. Innersloth’s update 16.0.0, published March 25, 2025, documents the confirmation details in the code-entry flow.
2. Confirm the host still has the intended lobby open
A lobby code is an invitation to a particular room. Ask the host to check that the intended room is still available and, if needed, send its code again. This is a practical check, not a guarantee that an unavailable room is the reason for the error.

3. Check the region and chat type
Use the confirmation screen to compare the region and chat type with the host’s settings. Innersloth says the game can update a region or chat-type mismatch in the join flow, but the chat adjustment depends on the player having permission to use Free Chat.
If the settings do not update or the option is unavailable, check the account’s chat permissions and ask the host to confirm the lobby settings. A difference that the game cannot reconcile may keep the join attempt from matching the intended session.

4. Update the game and report a repeatable failure
Check that Among Us is updated on your platform. Innersloth’s 2025 update recommends keeping the game current and says its version system helps support narrow down problems; it does not promise that updating will fix a lobby-code error.

Innersloth asks players reporting bugs or trouble finding games with friends to send specific details and, where possible, repeatable video. Epic’s Among Us support page also routes support issues to Innersloth.

That post says access to linking and interaction buttons requires a non-minor signed into a full account. An invite may make sharing easier, but it is not a fix for a code that fails to join a lobby.
